It was winter and the facilities were under construction, so a lot of sidewalks were closed off. But the falls were pretty. It's a bit eerie though, the setting almost seemed like a zoo- you're walking along in a nice level park, then you come to a rail enclosing a waterfall and outflow.
I live in Minneapolis and this is one of my favorite places. The park has a lot to offer in all seasons.
Beautiful waterfalls we followed the path along the stream to a wonderful swimming hole. There were a good many steps to get down to the main path but there were benches along the way. Great outdoor activity. Nice pavillion with food served. Picnic benches for those that choose not to hike the path and stay up in the park. Charge for parking at the meters.
Even in February this park is a great place to visit. Seeing the falls frozen is pretty cool - they're all puffed up ice mounds. There are tons of geocaches to search for, if you're into that. The walking trails meander along the creek and are very accessible. Obviously, the popular time for this park is in the summer when things are green and warm, but visiting Minnehaha on odd months like November or February also are very enjoyable. Parking is $.75 per hour, as of 2/28/15.
in summer if you are in Minneapolis then do visit the Minnehaha Park for the walk and a look at the falls. Enjoy the walk with your family and friends.
If you live in this city, you have seen the "Falls" as we call it. Family's frequently have picnics in the pavilion. Access is so easy regardless of how you get there. If you drive there is a minimal fee for parking. Very peaceful atmosphere.
Relaxing. Place for weddings, hiking, biking, Surreys for rent. Miles of paths in the woods and along the parkway. A must when you come to Mpls. Right near the Hiawatha light rail system which goes downtown and airport and Mall of America.
Really family friendly, fun place to spend an afternoon. Falls are pretty impressive in the spring when the water level in Minnehaha Creek is high. Also kind of interesting to see a frozen waterfall in the winter.
Exhilerating water falls and serene nature in the middle of the south metro. Walking trails, picnic and play areas and a beautiful statue of Minnehaha and Hiawatha. A great place for a family afternoon.
A great place to bring a family or a date for couples. Lots of space for a picnic and a beautiful park with a stream and waterfall. Stairs down to a walk by the creek leading to the Mississippi River. More picnic areas below the falls as well. Restaurant with great food - sea food, chips, ice cream etc. Park features a wading pool for young children. Bikes are available to rent as well as small four wheelers for families. Welcoming atmosphere.. I highly recommend it. - especially for visitors to the cities.
This park is a great place to visit &/or have a picnic. But, the falls here are beautiful to see. And, there's trails to walk on to see them.
I've lived here all my life and yet, when the water level is up this water fall never ceases to leave me feeling exhilarated. The walk at the base of the Falls takes you along a rapidly moving creek right out to the Mississippi River. Hungary? Great food and fish at the cafe. A perfect half day interlude.
Great falls to visit all year around. Hiking behind the falls in winter is also a great experience..
This is the most beautiful park within Minneapolis, and it feels like you are nowhere near an urban area. The people are all very relaxed, lots of places to stop and sit, and a fantastic ice cream place as well. I hear that the restaurant is excellent too. A very relaxing time with plenty of walking area too and exquisite water falls.
This park is nice. It has a creek, a little waterfall (great for those photography buffs), a lot of space to do things in, some shelter. We love it.
