I liked the information the guide gave us. She spent lots of time with us and showed us many details about the house. Downstairs were lots of memorabilia.
It was easy to find. We got there before it opened and took pictures of the outside only as we were on a tight schedule. Be sure to check when it's open, which is fairly early, but we were there before 9:00
From the outside it looked like it was kept up nicely. Wish we could have gone inside. That was our falt. we arrived in the area late. We were busy seeing other things in the area.
A beautiful little house which was the birthplace of Mamie Doud Eisenhower. Lots of historic things to see.
$5 admission is well worth it. The Volunteer Guides are Boone, Iowa natives and know the life of Mamie E. completely. The also know the house and furnishings (each and every piece) and are willing to talk as little or as much as you like. You can see they really love what they are doing. They are truly interested in each visitor. Don't miss this quaint adventure.
We arrived at Mamie Doud Eisenhower Birthplace Museum just as the volunteer arrived. She was so interesting and had so many tidbits to tell about the house, furnishings and marriage to Ike. The garage housed two of their cars and all the license plates from the 1920's - from Colorado. We spent about and hour touring, savoring every minutes. A worthwhile stop.
This historic yellow house of one of our First Ladies' birthplace is a worthwhile visit when in Boone. The furniture is in scale to the smaller size of the average person back then and it is a revelation.how close to the floor some of the chairs were!. Everything is kept up beautifully with some items restored. The house actually had been across the street on a church's property and needed to be moved when the church wanted to use the land. There is a yard with a garden and other interesting historic artifacts to learn about, plus a gift shop in the basement. Plan to visit. It will put a smile on your face!
this is well kept museum. the docents are knowledgeable and tell great stories
Very small and old house to take you back a few years. There was also a fun little gift shop or two next door. Hope they are still there.
It is a little house in town with a preserved interior. The tour we got was worthwhile. We really enjoy history. But it is small and won't take long!
