Love this location overlooking Eppley Airfield in Omaha and I-29.you are perched high on the bluffs overlooking all of downtown Omaha and the Missouri river. Nice hiking trails and historic information about the Lewis and Clark expedition.might be hard to find, but worth the effort!
My family visited her in the morning before the museums opened. It is a nice place to spend a little time looking over the river and downtown Omaha. There were walking trails however we didn't use them. Park service was there cleaning up garbage ect. Good photo ops.
The kids loved this place, no charge. Great way to get exercise on a nice day! Very educational. BEAUTIFUL view!
Great overlook of the city. A place to stop and think about history of the USA and this area. Peacefull place to reflect. Also, has a nice nature trail.
The views from this overlook are nice, but there is not much to the monument itself. It is well maintained and clean.
I have been coming here for years and still can not get enough of the beauty if the surroundings. The bluff overlooks downtown Omaha, airport and parts of Iowa. A couple short wooded trails for those who seek a little bit more adventure. Benches with great views to sit down a have a meal. Bring your camera. At times the views are breathtaking!
Witness a site the you have heard and read about all your life. The views are fantastic a great place to sit picnic or just ponder our history.
From here you get a beautiful view over a couple of small lakes in the valley and can see for at least 30 miles most days. The Monument itself is very nice, every thing looks new. There are three trails you can follow from there one of which takes you to two natural springs. Worth visiting and making a day of your visit. Take food and drinks there is no businesses anywhere near.
Very well done visitors center from the National Park Service. Our tax dollars are well spent detailing the history and natural assets our USA has. Natural assets that other world countries do not have. They attract those foreign travelers and their green dollars. Welcome. Oh, make sure you take 30 minutes to view the Lewis and Clark video.
This lovely overlook has a fantastic view of Council Bluffs and Omaha. Several weddings are held here each year because it's such a beautiful and peaceful area. It's a must see if you are in the area.
The view is spectacular and the historicity is fascinating! I never knew that Lewis and Clark had been here, let alone named the place!
this is a simple park with a wonderful view of Council Bluffs, and Omaha. As you gaze out on the mighty Missouri river you can imagine what it must have been like for the first white men to stand in the same place, to meet the Native Americans and stand in awe of God's wonderful creation.
If you want to drive to see an overlook of the Omaha skyline & the Missouri River, then it is worth the trip. Nice stop to go to on a summer day.
The view from Lewis and Clark Monument provides a sweeping vista of the river and Omaha. When I was growing up in the CB area, I was told the Monument marked the spot where Lewis and Clark met with a native tribe - hence the name "Council Bluffs." It turns out that was not true - they actually met in the Nebraska side near Ft. Calhoun. Still, it's nice spot. It's a bit difficult to find if you are not familiar with the area, but worth a search.
This is a very lovely spot in the Bluffs of Council Bluffs that provides an interesting view of Eppley Airfield in Omaha and the Omaha skyline
