beautiful clean property. Spectacular scenery. Warm & friendly hosts. Even the other guests were great! We will be back to enjoy the hot pool & hospitality again!
Just got back home after enjoying this wonderful hot springs near Challis Idaho. My wife and I stayed a night in the wonderfully restored 1890 house, and had a great breakfast in the large, separate dining / lounge building that is available any hour during your stay. The hot pools were just the right temperatures, with the larger one warm, but not too warm to swim in. The smaller pool was good and toasty, and was for meant for soaking away those aches and pains and relaxing. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The folks care-taking the place were very friendly and fun to chat with. The setting is beautiful, and the price is very reasonable. We will be back.
Just spent the weekend there with my husband. You couldn't find more accommodating B&B hosts! Mike and Shannan are awesome. The pools were wonderful and relaxing. Lots of bird viewing and wildlife viewing in the area and trails for hiking. We'll be heading back that way soon!
It's a short ride from Hailey/Sun Valley but Challis is beautiful. I especially enjoyed the barge, not how it destroyed the environment but more that it was so well preserved (Yankee Fork).
We love to explore various hot springs as we wander the backroads of the West. This one has a gravel bottom with REALLY hot water at your feet. Wonderful pool, very rural, great stop for the weary on a cool night. We first came here years ago when just the hot springs were open to the public. Challis is a great gateway to some wonderful country.
A friend and I stayed for over a week at Challis Hot Springs Campground in October, 2014. The campground is great with water and electric hookups. In October, during the week, the campground and pools are relatively empty which is nice for the people there. The staff is great! They are very busy working to make the place even nicer, but always take time to address any problems, such as the water being too cool or too hot in the large pool, or any other issues, and are always friendly. It really is a very nice place to stay. The town of Challis is close by with restaurants, shops, museums, grocery stores, an ACE hardware, and gas stations.Try the Tea Cup Cafe and Bakery for your morning coffee and baked goods.
We stayed here on our way to Stanley and delighted that we did! The B&B is charming and the new owners and their boys are marvelous - how I envy them in that they are on this new adventure! The rooms are clean, nicely decorated and oh, so comfortable, with a nice little deck for star gazing. The campground is beautifully kept, with the Salmon River floating by. The mineral pool is wonderfully relaxing & a great place to meet fellow guests and exchange stories. Breakfast in the morning was scrumptious and located in a very quaint building next to the main house. Interesting history of the place - ask them when you stay!
Our family couldn't visit as the hot springs are not public. Was planning a trip to Challis for the sole purpose of visiting the hot springs. We will not go there now.
This spot is a gem! After a long day traveling or motorcycling this is a must stop. A soak in the perfect temperature hot spring will have you relaxed and feeling good. It is simply delicious. The campground is nice too. Reasonably priced. If I'm in the area I will stop here - it's worth it.
We get by Challis every now and then with our motorcycles. On the way from Craters of the Moon to Stanley or on the way to Sun Valley or just touring about. The hot springs have real decent camping. We love to try different hot springs and these have a gravel bottom through which percolates some REALLY warm water. You can only take it for a bit before you have to get out and cool down. But it is so relaxing.Great spot.
Every June for the last 3 years we have joined our Marine Corps family in Challis Hot springs for several days of fun, camping and rafting. Challis hot springs has been accommodating this yearly trek for Marines on Recruiting Duty in the surrounding states for several years. It's always a good time, the campsites are all clean, have running water. Showers are available, hot springs and a pool are great fun. Even though we will be moving to California this spring and won't be able to join the Marines here for the summer fun, we will likely stop by and camp when we pass through to visit family and friends in the area.
Our family of four stayed at Challis Hot Springs on our way to Craters of the Moon National Park. We had a lovely tent site, under the trees in a green, grassy spot. The hot spring pool was very relaxing and the grounds were clean and nicely kept up. The staff was very friendly. We are looking forward to coming back someday with more time to stay and see the sights around Challis.
We just spent six nights camped in our pop-up camper at Challis Hot Springs. I've been going to Challis Hot Springs since about 1967, and this was my first visit in about ten years. The camp sites were extremely spacious with nice shade trees and a big, green lawn. The RV sites had water and electric connections. It was a little far to the restrooms, but for those who didn't want to make that hike, there were well-maintained port-a-potties with a hand washing station much closer to the camp sites. We were camped close to the Salmon River, and even managed to catch a few small trout.Of course the highlight is the Hot Springs itself. The hot spring is enclosed with concrete sides and a gravel bottom, and is emptied out every night. Well water is pumped into the main pool to keep the temperatures a bit cooler. The smaller "Hot" pool is enclosed in a building, and while it is a little hot for my taste, I know that a lot of people really enjoy it. These two pools are not hotel swimming pools with nicely finished concrete surfaces and a bunch of chemicals in the water. It is a Hot Spring, and is a wonderful place for a soak, and still accommodates the kids who want to play. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and they remembered our names from the moment we checked in. The drive from the main highway to the Hot Springs takes you through some of the local farming areas, and in the mornings and evenings you just might see some deer along the way. This is THE MUST-SEE AND DO ATTRACTION in Challis. For me, no trip to Challis is ever complete without a visit to the Challis Hot Springs.
A few years ago, I found this place while needing somewhere to stay while in Challis for work. It is a keeper. Not only do they have a large hot springs pool with a gravel bottom, and a separate and hotter covered hot tub, but they have a circa 1890 bed and breakfast. The staff has almost no turnover, so I have gotten to know them by name. The owners live in a mobile home on the property as well. They stop in at breakfast occasionally to say hi. There is also a large area for camping on the edge of the Salmon river. I hesitate to tell people about this spot because I love the tranquility. However, they deserve to get their name out. Enjoy.
This is a great place to stop for a night or a week. The campground has electrical and water to each camp site. There are two hot water pools, showers and clean restrooms. The property is on the Salmon River. Depending on the time of year, fishing for steelhead can be excellent in the river from Shoup to Stanley. If you are traveling thru the Challis area and looking for a camping spot, this is the place to stay.
