This is a nice short walk across the high desert of Idaho to an overlook of the Snake River. There is a wall and no danger of falling off, but don't let kids walk along the wall as the basalt below will make for a hard landing. Watch for wind anytime of the year and catch sights of the many raptors and their prey that inhabit the area.
I think this is the most outstanding view of the Snake River from this particular area of the canyon. Dedication Point is stop #7 along the Western Heritage Historic Byway, and it is very easy to find, has a decent parking lot, and can be accessed on foot via a non-strenuous, quarter-mile trail. The overlook has platforms surrounded by stone walls, and there’s plenty of area for lots of people. I was there on a blustery day, and I thought the “viewscape” was even more dramatic with the slightly gloomy backdrop. Also, it was a bit cold, but I had the whole place to myself.
