I like to envision what this old town once looked like and dream of what it might become. For the time being it is in limbo and in desperate need of an injection of creativity and customers! If people who live here want to see it grow they need to make the extra effort to get the things they can from this beautiful historic core. Support the natural foods coop! They are awesome. Start a mini revolution and reject costco and Fred Meyers. Slow down and support your neighbor! This could be a really great spot.
It is a run down shady area. You feel like you need to watch your back in this part of town. Stick to the east side or Chubbuck.
Their Old Town area is right on the brink if being revitalized. Worth a walk, really nice merchants, and great potential.
just the look and feel of old town is awesome love pegusus book store , and greek gyro , also buddys on the other side of town is a great place
There has been some attempt to revive the old centre and it is intersting to see old buildings and adverts painted on the walls but we visited it at 10.30 in the morning and nothing was open although the shops looked interesting and off beat.
Pocatello's artistic scene is bringing Old Town alive. Friday night art walks feature local artists, and there are many of them. There are is also the annual Rocky Mountain Writers' Festival, which takes place in April, and will celebrate its 25th year in 2015. It goes on for almost a week and includes local talent as well as authors from throughout the region. Music is also abundant with numerous local bands, many stemming from music students at Idaho State University.
Well, I'm living here almost 4 years. This is a college town, a small and dying city, what to expect? I have been in many old town but, this one gets my petty because of it's poor condition. Except Christmas time(as streets and shops are decorated with pretty lights and decorations) I don't like this place at all. Super slow, super calm. I guess best for peoples over 65 years old.People are not diverse at all. Not recommended at all.
Now Old Town Pocatello is old hence the name being called Old Town Pocatello. I like this location because it does hold a treasure trove of history about the community. Also, my family helped establish it for that reason I like it. Now to me the best time to be there is during the winter. The reason being is that they decorate all the trees on the main street with white Christmas lights and it makes it so beautiful. I am glade that we were able to drive and walk through that location just because of the beauty it has at night.
If you're visiting Pocatello and have some spare time this is worth a stroll but it is not a "destination". I likely wouldn't even get off the highway for it if I was passing through but it is nice to see some effort being made to combat the ever growing mall shopping experience. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.
This area was the least favorite of our visit to Pocatello and I admit there isn't much they can do about it. Like so many small towns that try to attract businesses that don't fit a mall type atmosphere, Old Town comes out average (not good, not bad); nothing to bring you back or say "I'm glad I took the time to go there". On the other hand, some people like the old architecture and others like expensive shops, but overall, this area will not hold most folks attention very long.
I love old buildings and am very nostalgic therefore I love Old Town. Many shop keepers are restoring or enhancing their buildings making it more charming all the time. There is magic in individual shops you can't get in a mall atmosphere. The restaurants are quaint too.
a few interesting shops and restaurants. Not a must stop destination but many interesting things while wandering around
There are several unique shops and it is fun to wander in and out of them. Some of them are quite expensive. Old town is looking much better with their beautiful plants and the Christmas lights. Farmers' Market is super
Like most cities that build malls...the downtown dies! This is no exception. There are stores there...thrift stores, antique stores, head shops and plenty of bars but nothing special! The mall is the saddest mall ever too!!
I've been to places I liked a lot better but since I live here I guess I'm not a good person to ask
