I've been to many farmer's markets and this is the best. It seems to me as though ALL of the items (produce, baked goods, dairy, meats) are locally grown and sourced, and although most items can be a bit pricier than what you can get at a grocery store, (to me) it is worth the extra money to support local enterprises. Really, where can you find someone who "captures" wild yeast to make his sourdough starter, and grows the wheat for his bread in a field next to his house??? TOO cool! I also enjoy talking with the vendors and the other customers, sharing menu ideas and preparation tips (I have to take a small notebook with me because I can't remember everything!). After every visit I return home with something new to try, and lots of inspiration. I am in love with this place... :)

To be completely honest I volunteer at this farmers market but I started because it is so well done and so worthwhile. All the products must be produced or grown locally. There is so much variety including meats, dairy products, baked goods and all manner of fruits and vegetables. You may very well be introduced to a radish, tomato or green lettuce that you've never encountered before. Don't worry! The farmers will help you figure out how to use it. In addition there are children's activities, educational presentations and cooking demos. The market began in May and runs until the Saturday before Thanksgiving. As an added bonus most summer markets are held on the Lewes Historical Society grounds in downtown Lewes.

The Farmers Market is a Saturday morning must do ... not only for the great items that are sold ... the lamb sausage, the yogurt and chocolate milk, the beef, the crab deviled eggs, the cheese, the mushrooms (the great sample recipes), the radishes, and the fresh produce ... but the weekly activity ,,, the demonstrations and the talks are fantastic ... meeting the chefs and farmers are a treat ... I look forward to Saturday AMs. Go and enjoy.

Along with a great group of programs such as bookreadings for children and historic tours, the farmers market carries a great variety of local-only produce and other foods. Many vendors sell fresh seafood - some already prepared for deep frying such as oysters and clams. Other vendors sell fresh local organic meats and then of course there are vegetable, bread, and craft vendors. Do the market along with a walkabout of downtown Lewes for a wonderful saturday AM experience.

This is one of my favorite places to go on a Saturday morning when in the Delaware Beaches area. Location is surrounded by historic buildings that you pass by when going from vendor to vendor. They have a great selection of stands. You can get anything from coffee, fresh fruits and veggies, pastries, breads, fresh flowers for your home and lavender soaps and lotions. it's also very kid friendly!

By far the best farmer's market we,ve visited. Great selection of fresh fruit, veggies, seafood, meats and plants. The prices were very reasonable and the vendors were friendly, knowledgableand helpful.

My wife and I visited the Lewes Farmers Market on Labor Day weekend. There were lots of nice produce and baked goods. The lavender farm booth was great and my wife found a lot to buy there. The location is interesting in among a half dozen historic buildings which have been moved into the park setting.

My husband and I had visited here a few years ago. Back then we saw just a few tables from some local farms. This year we were very impressed with the amount of vendors. There were lots of booths to visit. We saw TONS of local produce, fresh flowers and herbs. We also saw some honey, mushrooms, lavendar products, fresh organic chicken, fresh farm eggs, milk, baked goods and MORE. What a nice way to get some fresh LOCAL produce and support your local farmers! I would recommend.Note: The market is on a dirt and crushed clamshell type surface. There are some tree roots and walkway bricks to walk around. There is a small restroom on site in an outhouse type building--upgraded to modern day plumbing.

What a feast for the senses the Lewes Farmers Market is. From furniture to peanut butter cookies and with everything you could want in between. It is one of many reasons I'd like to move to Lewes.

We visited the Market for the first time this past saturday, the opening day of the season. It was already a beautiful morning and we got an early start (which is advisable as the fairly ample local parking options quickly fill up past 10 a.m.) All I can say is that my wife and I had an almost magical and very peaceful morning strolling casually from vendor to vendor. There is a nice variety, offering local fruits and vegetables, breads, baked sweets and a small sample of other prepared foods. But the most attractive aspect of our visit was that quiet, peaceful atmosphere. The organizers and vendors could not be more engaging and we found quality in all our purchases.

Went to the Lewes Farmer's Market on our way to the beach at the beginning of October -- in actuality, we planned our arrival to the beach to coincide with the Farmer's Market. We have been traveling to Dewey Beach the first week of October for 10 years, and had, in the past, stopped at the various and sundry farm stands on the way. This year we decided we would go out of our way to hit the Lewes market. It was NOT a mistake. There was a great variety of products and SUPER nice farmers and folks happy to sell us their goods. We even went back the second Saturday of our stay, even though we were leaving on Monday. I feel better knowing that I got quality, wholesome food for my vacation. Sorry restauranteurs... this year we only ate out one time!

The scoop: This ‘producer-only’ farmer’s market is open from May 29-October 9, every Saturday, 0800-1200. Their website gives a link to the fruit and vegetable availability by month. In an attempt to beat the weekend beach traffic, we always arrive very early in the morning for our week’s vacation. We are always looking for activities in the area to whittle away a little time prior to check-in. This year we checked out this perfect sized Saturday market. There was something for everyone: Fresh breads, pastries (and bagels), coffee, veggies, fruit, ice cream and more. I do wish there had been a few more varieties of prepared food. But we were able to make a nice breakfast out of the various vendors (there were lots of picnic tables around for seating) and we stocked up on in-season fruits and vegetables for our week’s stay. There is one bathroom on the premises.
