The park was open with no admission fee during the week we were there, so we visited multiple times for birding. The view from the point is beautiful. Unfortunately, we were there during winter storm Thor, so we were unable to do any hiking. We plan to come back next year during the spring bird migration.

My aunt lives in the area, so often when I visit her we will either go for a walk or a bike ride through Cape Henlopen. They have a new boardwalk/path through out the entire park and it's beautiful! I've gone here in the winter, spring, summer and fall and there are always things to see!

I have been going to Cape Henlopen State Park since I was 5 and this is the only place I go to go to the beach in Delaware. They have clean showers and a great food bar. It is super clean and tons of space. Get there early because they fill up quick!

As a Midwesterner, pretty much all I know of the beach has been learned in the annual vacations I've taken in DelMarVa with my married into family in the last twelve years. I'm a bit of an outsider at the beach. We visited Cape Henlopen State Park on a rainy afternoon of a week's visit to Rehoboth Beach. I'm SOOOO glad we did. It remains a standout memory for me.Here, you experience the beach in it's true, wild, natural form. There's a little visitors center where you get the science behind what makes the beach and who lives at the beach. You can even pet a horseshoe crab. There's a "hike" to the beach avaialble, starting and ending at the visitors center. DO THIS. We hadn't planned on it, so we were in filp flops, but it was just fine. It's a very short, soft walk through the natural beach environment. It goes out to the bay beach where you'll get to experience the beach in it's natural (but sadly, not pristine) state. You'll likely see a horseshoe crab in the wild. Or a little ghost crab skittering away from you. You'll see lot's of things you'd never see walking the beach in Rehoboth Beach or Ocean City for years and years. This is truly a one of a kind experience that will change your perspective the next time you drive up and down Route 1. I would think that every parent would want their kids to see this, so they can more fully understand their world. Let me just say that even as someone who is very attached to nature and always picks up trash and takes it out of parks like this, it was hard to not pick up some of nature's souvenirs from the beach here. There are horseshoe crab tails and shells everywhere. Again, lots of things are here that you'll never find where you play on the beach for the rest of the week. Let me just plead with you to leave those things untouched where you find them. If we all pick them up and take them with us, the people who visit later will have a lesser experience. Please leave the wonder there for all to enjoy. This is the ONE attraction I would suggest be at the top of everyone's itinerary! You've just got to know what the beach is really like!

I visit this park often, usually with the grandchildren for fun on the beach. I also visit with adult friends to drive on the beach for surfcasting. The park also features hiking, biking trails and campsites that I have not used, as well as a nature center. There is plenty of parking!

The current Big project that is in need of some serious attention is the fishing pier that was built for the Army Base known as Fort Miles round 1940 and went out 2000 feet in Delaware Bay. The Pier caught fire near its end in the early 70's which left parts of it unusable, and its current problem is that many of the pilings holding it up are damaged, and since the bay is frozen now, more damage is likely this winter. It was a very popular fishing spot that is now closed to the public. My hope is that it can be restored as much as possible to it's original condition. The beaches along the ocean are nice and stretch from the tip of Cape Henlopen south towards Rehoboth's two fire control towers. At Midpoint, there is Herring point which is a popular overlook and surfing area, as well as the start of the Gordons pond nature trail that was recently completed, and goes clear to Rehoboth Beach. There are plenty of walking, jogging and bicycle trails, and a shallow beach area from the fishing pier eastward towards the cape where you can launch kayaks at high tide, or walk among the sandbars at low tide if you wish. There is one observation tower that you can usually climb to the top of, and on a clear day you can see across the bay to New Jersey and watch the ferry make the crossing. There are also campsites available, and moderately dark skies for watching the stars and an occasional meteor shower, although light pollution from Rehoboth and Lewes negates some of that. For history buffs, there is a growing collection of military armaments that have been lovingly restored near the Fort Miles Education Center. Many of the Roads are still original and a little rough in spots, but are being improved slowly over time. It is a park well worth visiting.

This State Park is beautifully. The beach is clean, the water has waves. The restrooms are available and clean. There are biking and walking trails. There also is a beach for fishing.

Fabulous scenery and hiking trails. New Boardwalk though the marshlands from the Park to the northern tip of Rehoboth. Dog and bike friendly.

This beach is the best in Delmarva. I have a 4 WD truck and I load it up with a grill, fishing equipment and a cooler of beer to spend from dawn to dusk with my family and meet up with my best friends. The beers must be in a can and not a glass bottle. You can bring your volleyball net, horseshoes, bean bag game kayak or what ever you want. Truly a great place to spend the day. If you don't want to beach it, there a great campground, tour fort Miles from WW2, or climb the look out tower for a great view.

We enjoy the bike paths, beaches and trails! We are here frequently in the summer and live to park our bikes and walk to beach.

I can't wait to visit this park again. I was totally in awe of the scenery and the beach. We arrived near sunset and walked on the trail to the ocean. There are so many things to do and see. A great place for nature photography year round.

I love that this is a natural beach, however on a holiday, you need to arrive early or you won't get a spot on the beach due to overcrowding.

There's not a lot to do in the winter near Lewes but being outside is the best when you come from the frozen north. This park is not huge but it has a wide range of landscapes to enjoy. Some of them are not available in the hunting season except on Sundays. You can walk the beach, round the point is about 2 miles and a great walk except when there's a really cold Nor-Easter. For those times The Pinelands nature trail is sheltered and in the woods. If you're lucky there's a deer or two to delight. The new Gordon's Pond trail is 3 1/2 miles including a great new boardwalk. You can also bike this trail on gravel and incorporate it into an 18 mile circuit via Reoboth and the Junction and Breakwater trail back through Lewes. The Fort Miles display of the guns that used to be sited here is very interesting. A word of thanks to the volunteers for the excellent Nature Center, a great place on a colder day and as you step outside birds and a host of deer are there to greet you.
