Delaware State Police museum has some great old gear from years gone by. Its is organized in a logical fashion and well maintained. The old MDT dispatch terminal brings back memories. When is the last time you saw a dispatch table with the old style "patch through" buttons to connect callers with public works, streets, utilities, etc. The back room has emergency lights from the early 1900's and sirens of all varieties. Definitely a must see for those involved in Law enforcement.
Fascinating history presented in a professional manner about a storied organization. Liked the helicopter and the old squad car as well as the motorcycle patrol.
This place might be interesting with small children. A solo person will get bored somewhat easily. Some of the models and exhibits are very dates, like early 1990s. You probably won't spend more than half an hour here unless you have kids. On the plus side the museum is free if you want free activities.
A small museum that accepts donations. Sgt Dan car outside, which the kids found funny. The initial part is a wall of the fallen, honoring State Troopers who died in the line of duty. In the main room, there are exhibits on the wall with lots of artifacts showing the history of the Delaware State Police. In the center is some interactive games for the kids, and diorama of a 1940's murder they used for training. They have some police motorcycles and cars to view, and the kids were able to get into one of the cars, which made their day. My favorite part was they have a marble "check" a man sent in the mail in '81, who was angry about his $28 speeding ticket; it's the size of tombstone and an amusing novelty to behold.
Depicts the history of the Delaware State Police. Also, shows some of the old equipment, including police cars. You're allowed to take pictures in the driver's seat so come prepared.
Although small, it is very educational. A self guided tour, so take the time to read the plaques and do try to solve the mock crime scene. Don't forget to sign your name when you enter.
I enjoy looking at reminders of our past and past technology. I like seeing the old police motorcycle from the 1930s and the old police car that has an old radio in it. Takes about 30-45 minutes to go through it but is a fun walk through the past. My nephews were running around enjoying it immensely.
My wife and I enjoyed seeing the historic police equipment and vehicles that were displayed in this museum. We were a bit frustrated, though, because some of the exhibits were not working properly or the audio or visual parts of the exhibit were lacking. I am always frustrated by museums that fail to provide the proper lighting, sound, signage or other effects necessary to learn about their exhibits. If the museum staff brought some of these things up-to-par, the museum would be top-notch!
