We loved our trip to the Uinta Mountains. The scenery was fantastic. Mirror Lake, Scout Lake and Lofty Lake where pretty easy hike and gorgeous. We even got lucky and seen a goat.

The drive up from Salt Lake is quite at but when you're here it's lovely. There's places to camp and you can have some fit pit spots which is lovely. Great for a pic nic and place o escape the hustle and bustle of salt lake. A lovely place to come and visit.

We returned to this route three times!We enjoyed a ride there and back on our motorcycle, stopping off to enjoy scenic views then went back for a day of hiking the trails and another on dirt bikes to challenge ourselves with some awesome riding :)You need to take water and snacks and be prepared for weather changes but what an amazingly beautiful area :)

I always make time to drive the Scenic Byway 150 when returning from Wyoming to Salt Lake City. The whole drive is stunning especially when you get to Mirror Lake. You have to pay $6 (put in envelope at ranger station) to drive the byway if you want to pull over, otherwise I think its free to travel as long as you don't pull over to take pictures. I saw a moose in the middle of the road once, was amazing! They close it down late summer and it opens in late May or June. They get a lot of snow up there (11,000' above sea level). There was still snow in late August once that hadn't melted yet.

The walk around the lake was very enjoyable and easy. Anyone could do it, we took our time and took lots of pictures. The lake was stunning.

We saw cattle on the road (open range), hawks, mule deer, chipmunks, magpies, a light dusty of snow in the higher elevations, beautiful aspen in golden & rusty orange, fir & pine trees and the terrific, unique Wasatch Mountain Range. The top elevation for the road is about 10,800 feet. Provo River Falls is a particularly beautiful spot for a walk. Several kids were climbing rocks & seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I cant claim credit for finding this drive, I got it off another reviewer SnorkelFiend34http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g60999-i481-k4981090-Best_route_from_Salt_Lake_City_to_Grand_Teton-Yellowstone_National_Park_Wyoming.html#37298455I pretty much followed his whole route altho in reverse and added some detours of my own.I spent a couple of days doing it with a stopover in Pinedale at the Lodge on Fremont lake (highly recomended and add Skyline scenic drive round the lake with a finishing scene of the Wind River Range mountains). The mirror lake scenic byway is well worth it and the more you can stop and explore, the better. There is a park fee if you are going to stop but it was only $8 I think. If you like fishing and have a canoe, you could spend a week here or you can just drive thru in a day, stopping to smell the pines, take in the fall colors, dip your toes in the crystal waters, carry on to Park city for a late lunch then over Guardsmen pass (crazy high at the top) and down into Salt lake City.

A scenic drive anytime but especially so when the fall foliage is changing. Sections of the drive matched Colorado or New England for fall foliage color. Stop at Mirror Lake and take the easy 1.5 mile walk around the lake. If coming from Kamas don't bother driving all the way to Evanston. Stop at the ranger station on the Evanston side of the mountains and retrace your route to Kamas. That way you get to enjoy the views and the color from two different directions.

LET'S just say this is a part of utah that gets overlooked sometimes. WHY? I have no idea!!! FISHING, CAMPING, HIKING ALL IN ONE!!! Such AMAZING SCENERY when the leaves are changing, LIKE NOW!! WATCH OUT THOUGH open range means there are cows on the road, AND THEY ARE THERE!!! SUCH AN AMAZING PLACE!!

A great drive to reconnect with the beautiful scenery of the Uinta Mountains. Lots of areas to pull off, towards the summit there are many lakes, don't forget to see the Provo River Falls - easy walk from the parking lot.

This is a must do if you are in Park City. This has to be one of the best scenic drives in the USA, its a 30 mile drive and you will see lakes, river, deer, water falls and if your later in the season some leaves changing colors. Its only $6.00 to park and pass is good for 3 days. Ask the ranger for a map and a trail recommendation that fits the crew you are traveling with. They have easy hikes to lakes and they have a summit up to Bald Mountain which is 12,000 feet. That hike is challenging, you need layers of clothing, a tee shirt, a fleece, and a wind breaker as it can get cold and windy on parts of the climb as you are above the tree line. Its worth the 1 hour climb up, maybe 1.5 hours if you stop and rest. At the top you can see for miles and will be blown away on how many lakes there are. There is a small store on road up called Samak Country Smokehouse, hot tip stop at this place and buy a package of their homemade beef or turkey jerky. Take that up with you for a healthy snack. Do not forget water and sunscreen. You are sky high and closer to the sun.

This is a "must do" if you area interested in scenic drives in the Park City area. The trip from Kamas, Utah, only 15 miles outside of Park City, to a small town just across the border in Wyoming, is 42 miles. The road is a state highway and much of the trip is driving through high elevation meadows--not the white knuckle challenge some mountain driving demands.Peak elevation is the summit at Bald Mountain which is 10,700 feet with Mirror Lake a very short distance past the summit. There is a relatively flat 1 1/2 mile walking trail around the lake that offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains including Hayden Peak. Just a couple miles south of the summit is Provo falls which is roadside and worth a quick stop.

I love this ride. Compared to most places to ride the scenic byways, it is only a relatively short ride, but one of the most beautiful byways in Utah. Gentle curving roads that climb to over 10,000 feet above sea level. In the fall the colors a wonderful, in the summer it is a nice cool retreat. Just beware in late fall that storms can move in quickly. Well worth the trip.

This scenic drive lives up to its billing. There are campsites all along the road, easily accessible trailheads for hiking or horseback riding. Watch out for the "open range" livestock though. Many places to pull off and picnic too. Several lakes and the Provo River line the road on the way to the star, Mirror Lake. You can continue past it toward Evanston, WY.

The Mirror Lake Scenic Byway provides travelers with incredible access to more than 40 miles of scenic views of the Uinta Mountains.Elevation on the Byway ranges from approximately 8,000-11,000 feet above sea level. The road is paved and well-maintained. There is no charge to use the byway if stops aren't made while traveling. I recommend paying the nominal fee for an access pass which allows you to park and explore the area. There is so much to do and see in close proximity to the Byway. Camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, and photography are popular activities.Excellent tent and recreational vehicle camping sites are available in organized campgrounds or dispersed areas. Potable water and RV dump facilities are available.Roadside lakes are regularly stocked with trout. Numerous other lakes can be reached by hiking a short distance on well-marked routes. Other lakes are remote and require good navigational skills. In There are also miles of streams and rivers throughout the area. In addition, to fishing many enjoy spending time on the water in canoes and rafts.It is easy to become disoriented in the Uinta Mountains so it is very important to take precautions to avoid getting lost. The good news is that there is no need to go outside of your comfort level and ability, because there are ample ways to enjoy this mountain range. You can stay near the Byway or explore backcountry according to your skill. Keep in mind weather conditions often change quickly. Rain showers are common in the afternoons and temperatures can drop dramatically in the summer even when skies are clear in the mornings. Lightning is also a regular possibility during a storm and should be considered dangerous. Try to stay in areas of safety when lightning activity is present. Mosquitos can be pesky so don't forget to bring mosquito repellent.It is nice to retreat to higher elevation when lower elevation temperatures exceed 90 degrees. High daytime summer temperatures in the Uinta mountains typically don't exceed 80 degrees. Morning summer temperatures can dip below 40 degrees. Even though this mountain hideaway is remote, towns are less than one hour away from both entrances of the Byway. There is also a small store and a ranger station along the Byway. I enjoy this scenic treasure and I think you will too.
