在大教堂东侧有个visitor center,里面详细介绍了大教堂的建造历史,也有图有模型地介绍了大教堂内部构造,内容非常全面。在没有机会进到大教堂里面的人们也可一饱眼福。

Only saw the outside but stunning particularly at night being all lit up. Check out different views from the different vantage points. Several weddings going on this weekend and really couldn't get any closer than the exterior

The temple is beautiful but accessible to only Mormons. So we took a turn around looking at the exterior and enjoyed the early blooming gardens adjacent to the grounds. If you want to see what the interior looks like go inside the South Visitors Building to see the process to build the Temple and a large model of the Temple itself. Very interesting information is in the visitors center. Be aware that the missionaries will want to talk with you about Mormonism anywhere on this property.

I never realized this: There are TWO halls (very similar in set-up but very different in age) where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir performs. The Salt Lake Temple is much older (I'm guessing it is a hundred years old, if not more) but still a good (not great) hall. The newer hall (the LDS Conference Center) is the better of the two, built in 2000.

After learning what it took to build this beautiful building, the sacrifice and patience. I can imagine sticking to a construction project that took 40 years to complete. Not be missed.

If you are here, affiliated with the local religion and you want to visit the temple, it is arguably one you should be seeing. For all others, not able to enter this building, this is a must see photo op and grounds visit, if nothing else. Iconic and picturesque and a staple of the Salt Lake skyline. Located directly in downtown Salt Lake City and therefore within walking distance to all sort of attractions, as well as being across the street from a huge mall and much outdoor/indoor shopping, restaurants, etc. During the Holiday (Christmas) season all of the Temple Square grounds are lit up by hundreds of thousands of lights and light displays, having been meticulously put up on all the trees and all over the gardens of the church grounds. A fun time for couples, families and really everyone who loves to see things beautifully decorated. There is a visitors' center and plenty of things to look at and keep busy with for a few hours, unless you are in a hurry and just want to breeze through, which is also an option. There's no schedule here, until closing time.

The Salt Lake City Temple, located on Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City, is a must see attraction for the whole family. The temple was built by the Mormon pioneers, who carved the granite stones from the mountains, and hauled them down to the valley. It took 40 years of labor to complete. Many of the pioneers donated one day a week's worth of labor to help construct this building. It is beautiful, and shows detailed craftsmanship associated to the people of that time. There are several other buildings located on temple square worth checking out as well, like the Tabernacle, whose roof was constructed without the use of nails. The acoustics in that building are incredible and sometimes if you're lucky you can listen to a rehearsal concert by the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The grounds are immaculate and bursting with colorful flowers in the spring and summer, and literally draped in lights during the Christmas season. Visit the contemplation pools, as they are very cool and reflect the surrounding buildings. This is a place where you can either simply walk the grounds at your leisure, or take one of the guided tours that is available. Whether you are interested in the LDS faith or not, the amazing story of the early pioneers who settled this valley is truly remarkable and a valuable piece of American history. Family friendly for all ages.

Like I said about Temple Square generally, this is a curiosity but hardly world historical religious architecture. You can't go if you're not LDS and in good standing.

We always enjoy the serenity, calm and peace when visiting the temple and the grounds. Took the family over Valentines weekend and wasn't busy.

The church grounds are beautiful. You can walk around and mingle with church members if you have any questions. There is a museum opened to the public. My favorite was the doll house sized replica of the temple. They don't allow nn members to enter the actual temple, so the model is as close you get. The grounds are beautiful and there are many photo opps.

The best time to visit the Temple is at Christmas. All the lights and the grounds are always very clean and pretty. It is worth the visit to see the great view of the lights.

This is a beautiful temple and definitely a sight to see in Salt Lake City. I went in for a moment and am excited to come back to spend more time here. Note you need to be a LDS temple recommend holder to enter the actual temple, but there is plenty to do and see if you are not Mormon on temple square.

Awesome - for the first timers - make sure you visit the north visitor's center (there are two). The scale model of Jerusalem is MARVELOUS! The south visitor's center has a scale model of the temple. It is well worth a visit just for these two pieces alone. The Christus (larger than life-size) statue is breath-taking, and will make you consider the eternities for sure!Great place for Mormons, and non-Mormons alike. The Assembly Hall, the little brother to the renowned tabernacle, is also worth visiting - some of the details inside are spectacular - rival any tour of European churches Notre Dame, etc.The artwork in the conference center is worthy of any museum - and it changes periodically. Again, take the tour guides up on their offers. They are nice, informative, and will share details you cannot get going by yourself.

This temple is absolutely beautiful especially at night with the lights, however those who are not Mormon cannot go in but that's ok because the surrounding area is still beautiful and worth seeing

knightleysmom

We can't go into the tabernacle since we are not Mormon. We did go to where the choir sings. It is very nice & clean. Missionaries talk about their religion during the tour. It was OK.
