There really wasn't anything to dislike about visiting Zion. There was enough to see and do. Bring a camera. I suggest doing easy hikes which allow you to stop and take in the scenery.

Beautiful parklots to see and we had a nice hike not to long but parking is hard to find . Go see the sights.

From April through October this is road is only accessible by shuttle so you're free to view the sites without fear of running over a pedestrian or rear ending the person in front of you. The rest of the year you may drive it yourself and take in the sites, or stop where you please. The views are spectacular and this is the road to access most of the major hiking spots like The Narrows, Emerald Pools, and Angels Landing. A must do if you visit the park.

That's what the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is. In the winter you can drive the road, but starting in March then the road is traveled by the Zion Canyon Shuttle Bus. It's free shuttle that is ongoing all day, so you can get on and off where and when you please, but the Shuttle Bus does not travel through anything but the 6 mile Zion Canyon road to the Visitor Center. To get through the main part of Zion National Park you will be driving your own vehicle. That road is 15 miles long and travels from the south side of the park to the east side. The Zion Canyon road is closer to the south park entrance.

Although it was busy and we could barely find a parking space, we had enjoyed this nice walk all the way up to the upper pool, which is 1.6mile long. Loved it.

The drive is well worthwhile. The scenery is different on either side of the tunnel so make the round trip.

Incredible beauty and a memorable scenic drive. Its hard to believe so few people are area of this park. It's a can't-miss attraction if you are in NV or UT

We were planning to go to Page directly from Las Vegas, but in our way decided to visit the Zion National Park … the best decision. Beautiful … absolutely worth it.I would love to have known earlier about this place to book a room in a Bed and Breakfast hotel near the park … and take a couple of days to walk the different trails… we were sorry we didn't have the time to do it.

This trip is so worth the drive to appreciate this natural wonder. The rock formations and colors are beautiful. It's awesome!

Made our way from California just to see Zion, so glad we did. The weather was perfect, and we were in awe of the scenery. Glad we could drive casually thru the park as it wasn't very busy (Feb) There was at least one trail we could walk our dog. Other than than, no dogs alllowed on hiking trails. Spent a good 4 hours there. Stopped at a couple of rock shops, but after being in Quartzsite, found the stores expensive. Bet this place gets super busy in the summer, glad we went when we did!

The scenic drive in Zion is simply breathtaking. You can drive it yourself until April 1--then you take the provided bus. In either case, it is more than worth the effort. Not far from Interstate 15 and easily approached. You won't forget this jaunt.

road is red, that's probably the only major difference between this and other Utah scenic drive. but still worth it, and on our way back was close to sunset, the light gorgeously cast onto a giant rock, which looks like those in Peter Jackson's King Kong, and a lot of tourists just stopped the car on the road and take shots... a little traffic and not a very good example, but the passion showed about this is what I love about national park visitors.

The Zion Canyon scenic drive is probably the easiest way to realize why Zion National Park is so extravagantly praised for it's beauty. This is a very easy about 45 min drive from the Visitor center to the Temple of Sinawava if you drive non-stop. In summer you have to avail the park shuttle for this but in winter you can drive your own car (see park website for exact days when shuttles start running). The drive is basically a paved road through the canyon that passes through several major attraction points. There are plenty of pullover points along the road as well apart from the designated shuttle bus stops where you can stop to enjoy the view. We visited in the winters and enjoyed the drive thoroughly with frequent stops. There are many hike trails along the route that you can try out depending on your ability (see the forum posts about which hikes you must do). Even in the last week of February we witnessed moderately good number of visitors in the park; so try to come as early as you can in the morning for easy parkings and less crowd. Be courteous to fellow visitors (a lot of them are [rightly] in awe of the canyons and drive far too slowly), watch out for pedestrians, photo enthusiasts and bikers and enjoy the wonders of this amazing canyon.If you still have time left don't miss the drive up the Zion Mt Carmel highway through the tunnels!Granted - a drive down a paved road does not do justice to the magnificence of Zion NP; but like I said - if there's only one thing you can do at the park - do this.

Visit this national park in February - temperatures in the mid sixties during the day, but colder at nighgt - 32 degrees. You have the advantage of driving your own car at this time of the year as well - instead of the tram which is required most of the year, particularly in the spring, summer, and autumn.There are many trails listed by ability level and these can take some time, but are worth the effotr. If just driving through the scenic route, you can do this park in a few hours.

We recently had the experience of being able to do the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive in our own car in the off-season. Zion Canyon is closed to private vehicles during the Spring/Summer season which usually begins mid-March and runs through the end of October because of the mandatory shuttle system which runs through the park during that time. (The shuttle may also run weekends in November and over Thanksgiving.) We were there for a weekend in February, and the weather was great! The day we were there it was in the low 70's. We drove through the park in our car with the sun roof open and were able to see the tops of the cliffs from inside our car. Because we were driving ourselves, we could stop and any of the stops along the way at our leisure and stay as long as we wanted and then get back in the car and go on. You can also do this while riding the shuttle, but it's fun in the off-season to be in your own car and on your own schedule. Also, the park is less busy during the off-season so hikes along the many different trails are less crowded. At dinner time we were able to drive into the park and have dinner at the lodge. In the summer, you can only drive your car to the lodge if you're staying there. The next day, we had a picnic lunch at the Grotto Picnic area which was easy to do since we had our picnic cooler in the car. We thought it was so much fun to be on our own schedule and drive in our own car to enjoy the spectacular scenery of Zion Canyon.
