we stayed last year and had a real nice lake front spot. we have a 40 ft toyhauler and there is only a few spots that will hold you. but they are very nice spots. if you have a large camper. be sure to check if you can fit. the staff there is extremely nice. we found a kitten there and they went beyond their means to help. needless to say i now have a cat named hay bay. the pool wasnt open on monday so that was a bummer but found other activitys
My family and I have visited Harrison Bay State Park many times, especially when we lived in Harrison. It was only a 5 minute drive from our house. They have a nice large pool with a Kiddie pool, and it isn't really too crowded. We haven't camped here, so I can't speak to that. There are many safe places to bike and it is great for walking out in beautiful nature. The rangers do have programs for children in the summer, and we took our daughters there a couple of times. Because it is 10 miles out of the city, it seems like this park is forgotten by Chattanoogans. Everyone I meet here comes from some place else. There is a fee to use the pool and for the camping, but there is no access fee for the park itself. The swing sets and play area is very large and well kept. I've seen several graduation parties and wedding events here.
We stayed in Loop C Site 40. We loved the spot. Close to bathrooms, tree cover, plenty of space. Unfortunately we didn't really get to enjoy any of it because we were eaten alive by mosquitoes. I mean swarms of them. I have never had to deal with this anywhere else I have camped. They were so bad we left during the days and dreaded returning. I left covered in bites as did the rest of my group. We wore Deep Woods bug spray, burnt two candles, had bug repellent bracelets on, burnt a citronella coil, and sat in a screen tent. You couldn't escape them in the bathroom. It appeared that they were actually worse in there. The bathroom on our loop was pretty run down but the one on loop Was updated and much nicer.
We just camped here for 3 nights in Section A right on the lake and it was beautiful. We were greeted very warmly by the staff. The rangers were very helpful. We will be going back again!
The sites are extremely close! We were on the lake which was nice, but they don't spray for mosquitos and they were so bad we had to stay inside the rv. I had mosquito duty in bed and killed 9 before falling asleep. UGH Also, the bathrooms are very far away. So far, in fact, we drove there on our way out to shower. Campground is very hilly and most sites are not level. Lake was also down about 10 ft. The locals say they do it every Sep/Oct, so if you do go, don't go during these months.
Beautiful park, but thoroughly check out your campsite and loop before booking. Only one camp loop is really big rig accessible. Avoid the B unless your camper is smaller. Love the lake. Gorgeous sunsets.
We came to Harrison, TN to visit some friends. They have lots of things to do at this camp ground. The have an Olympic size swimming pool. A baseball field. Some of the sites are right on the banks of Lake Chickamauga. Beautiful at sundown and at night when the moon is reflecting off of it. The bath houses are nice and clean. AND you don't have to pay to take a shower. I love that part. By the way, there is no sewage hookups at any of the sites. Several dumping stations though. Kids play ground available. We had a good time while there.
We have enjoyed camping at Harrison Bay State Park for a few years. The bath houses are very clean. Sites are nice. The staff is friendly. There is plenty for kids to do. We enjoy the activites with the rangers.
We've spent many days visiting and camping at Harrison Bay. It's a beautiful park and, as members of Friends of Harrison Bay State Park, we try to give back to the park that has given us so many great memories. The park is undergoing major renovations right now and when completed it will be the perfect destination for all, whether you have a tent or a 50 foot Class A. Situated on beautiful Lake Chickamauga, the park offers a variety of activities from hiking and canoeing to cooling off in the huge swimming pool. HBSP is definitely worth visiting! You won't be disappointed!
This popular, spacious state park in the Chattanooga, TN area has it all: trails for walking, places to put in kayaks, canoes and motorized boats, sites for fishing and swimming in the lake, plenty of camping spaces and bath houses, a great swimming pool, and a super restaurant by the marina.
Serene camp site with electricity and water RV hookups. Lots of ducks, deer and squirrels for a beautiful restful experience. Restrooms and showers were not updated, but adequate. A couple walking trail loops, one us a mile and the other is five miles. As I write this, sitting in a lawn chair with hot tea watching ducks glide across the water...get the picture?
This is a wonderful place to visit. Whether it be day use, camping, boating, fishing and walking trails. Very we'll kept . There also is a large swimming pool available in the summer. I love to just walk my dogs there. The dockside cafe is a good place to eat and a large grocery store within 5miles.
Great park for walking, picnicking and being in nature. The 4.5 mile walking trail near the boat ramp and ranger's office provides for nice scenery and a relaxed walk along several point that jut out into the lake.
There is a good boat ramp with great access to fishing. A restaurant that is casual and good although not opened all the time. They only have one 4.5 mile walking path, but a really nice one. Most of the time you are walking around the bay I don't camp, but I have heard that the camping is good. I live close to Harrison Bay, so I go there frequently to walk and fish.
I want to stay here!! I love that it is by the water and has so many areas to choose from. Very quite and the views are wonderful.
