Charles was an amazing man right up until the end of his life. The museum is a look into not only the history of Tellico Plains, but of Monroe County. It's evident from the moment you walk in the front door of the museum, with all the pictures and the huge collection of guns and telephones, arrowheads. Charles was a visionary from a young age otherwise he would have never kept all of these things. I always loved to go by and talk with Mayor Hall because he was a wealth of information on just about anything you needed to know about. The museum is now a testament to Mayor Charles Hall's vision of promoting Tellico Plains and all the visitors that passes through our small town. He was always looking into the future for ways that he could help the citizens of Tellico Plains, so we need to carry on with the same passion that my buddy had!!!!
We stopped here thinking we were just at a gift shop. Turns out there's a whole museum on the side filled with all sorts of telephone history along with other 20th century fun artifacts. Nice curator, super friendly.
This is like a step back in time of this area! They have a great gun collection, telephone equipment, vehicles, appliances and much more. Admission is by donation only.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our Museum! We love that you enjoyed our museum, after all that's what makes it all worth it!
I've been to the museum several times with my wife and kids. Its always interesting to see the older equipment and the large display of firearms. Highly recommend
The Charles Hall Museum is a must stop for any traveler to the area! No one would expect such a marvelous collection for be in such a small community. From guns, Native American artifacts to the nations second largest telephone museum the collections are truly amazing. In building 1 the largest collection is the firearms...there are more but the firearms are very impressive! The gift shop is the museum is one of the best I have been in. When you purchase something from the gift shop a portion of the proceeds go to fund the museum.Building 2 is where you will find the nationals second largest telephone museum. Along with the telephones you will also find a moonshine still and a few antique cars! Mr Hall gives tours which adds to the experience. You walk through Cherohala Biker Gear to get to the museum. The store is wonderful..hundreds of t-shirts!The buildings are clean and well maintained. I loved my visit and highly suggest it to everyone!
Mr. Halls museum has something of interest for all. I have lived in this community for many years and yet I never tire of visiting this museum. I hope all visitors take the time to stroll through and enjoy all that it has to offer.......
History and antique lovers be sure to stop here. A fabulous museum filled with all kinds of firearms, antique radios, photos, and much more. I love this place and it's a great little town to visit
Nice place to browse around and learn about the history of the area. From wood mills, to canning factories, to German prisoners of war. Interesting history.
Mr. Hall has put together this free museum that truly reflects his long fruitful lifetime of quality work. His collection is awe inspiring. We have been to many museums but this collection of true artifacts ranks as near the top. There is a .50 cal machine gun, bazooka, a impressive bank vault and a telephone collection extraordinaire. It is located at the western end of the Cherohala parkway (skyway) and a drive on the parkway should absolutely include this stop. Mr. Charles Hall was mayor of Tellico Plains for many years and I was fortunate to get to see him at the museum and get to hear him talk about many of the items in the great collection. There is something here for everyone. This would be one of my highest recommendations to visit. No admission charge, a class act.
The Charles Hall museum is a true gem. One man's personal collection of everything from prehistoric relics through antique and modern firearms to incude an amazing collection of telephone equipment. Well worth a visit.
I love to visit with Mayor Hall as often as I can. He is not only a wealth of regional and local history, he is an inspiration. I always leave feeling that I need to go out into town and do something that will make a true difference for the people. Mayor Hall has accomplished so many things for the Town and this region. His collection of pictures is enormous almost something that is hard to take in on the first visit. The firearms collection is another story in its self. The only equal is located in Cody Wy. This is a must see for anyone that loves history!!!!
I usually stop here before driving over the Cherohala Skyway. So much love went into this project! I can't remember his name but he was mayor of Tellico Plains for years. This place is full of history! Beautiful antique guns from the civil war and earlier as well as WWII and WWII. Old phones switch boards - toys you name it and they've got it. A good gift store also.
The place had a great gun collection I really enjoyed looking at them, the old phone equipment and truck was worth going to see also I would go agin
Charles Hall has amassed an amazing collection of pictures, tools, arms, telephones and much else. Take some time and visit both museums on this property. If Mr. Hall is around, ask him some questions. He is very knowledgeable and quite friendly.
