Miners Alley has brought some very good shows to the Golden area. My friends and I have attended two plays this season and are looking at another performance later this year. The seating if you are a member is great but if you are a non member, unless you are there the minute the doors open, you may find yourself in a seat where you can't see everything going on.
There are far too little local theaters left anymore, so having one near where I live has been a delight. I've only been to Miners Alley a couple of times, but they were both QUALITY plays and the smallness of the theater made the experience feel more 'personal' somehow. They have drink and small bites to also enjoy. The great thing about Miners Alley is that it is AFFORDABLE. I am unable to swallow the high ticket price of the big theater in our city, so having this option has been terrific!
Intimate theatre experience. Reasonably priced & fun.A group of girlfriends and I went to The Fantasticks and it was.....fantastic! The music is enchanting and the acting was excellent. We enjoyed drinks before the show.We have also attended Parallel Lives – hilarious and The Road to Mecca – moving. We have our tickets for The Odd Couple.
This small, charming theater is delightful. I have never been disappointed with the many productions I have seen here. It's a wonderful place to bring young people to introduce them to theater while being affordable. I look forward to seeing their next production of "Parallel Lives."
Upstairs in the old Foss building is a small, intimate theater with excellent productions and surprisingly good acting. We've been there many times over the years and never been disappointed. The cost is minimal, there is a large lounge area for a pre- or post-show libation and it's only a short walk from a dozen good Golden restaurants, so you can park once for a full evening of food and entertainment with friends. Tip: The side sections are really on the side and some of the seats there have a partially obstructed view, so try to get seats in front of the stage.
My wife and try and attend 2-3 shows per season. So many things to like - show and performer quality is always very high. Tasty drinks that you can take in the theater. All seats are close to the stage in the cozy setting. A must if you are in the area!!
We went to see I Never Promised You a Rose Garden at Miner's Alley Playhouse and what a powerful presentation. The actors ranged in age from 16 to retirement age and each performance was powerful and emotional. We especially admired Dr. Fried, the psychologist, but all the actors were talented and completely involved with the play. It always amazes us that so much can be portrayed on this little stage. We always leave Miner's Alley impressed.
When they have a show it's worth the trip to see it. Very professional and intellectual, usually. I love the shows.
Miners Alley Playhouse is an award-winning professional theater in downtown Golden. With live theater, musicals, comedy, improv, concerts, and classes, MAP has been providing an entertainment center for audiences and an artistic home for artists for over ten years. Located in the historic Foss Building, this local theater offers first rate productions in a cozy atmosphere. There is a nice lounge area, a bar (you can take your drinks into the play area), and even art to decorate the walls! Each season Miners Alley offers about 6 plays on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. There is a happy hour from 6:30 to 7:00, free parking behind the building and even memberships to fit every wallet! There are talk backs with cast and directors on selected evenings, special discounts for members and most importantly outstanding plays. My family attends several each year and thoroughly enjoy the actors and the plays. Visit www.minersalley.com to learn more. Highly recommended for a nice night out or a place to take visiting family and friends! Five Star Attraction!
I saw a production here and was blown away at the quality of the actors, the faclities and the whole experience. Highly reccommend.
Dress up or wear jeans. Bring cash to tip the bartender because you get to bring drinks into the theater! Pick a seat, sit where you want. If you like to sit close, you just might become part of the play! Always a good venue for a laugh, giggle, or some clowning around. Inhibitions are lowered in this part of town!
What I love about Denver is the wide variety of small theatres located all over town. This is the main one on the west side, and it is located above the old Foss Drug location just of Washington Street, which is Golden's Main Street. It is also located across the street from The Table Mountain Inn which makes for a nice "Dinner and Show" opportunity, and you can park right out back to the west for free. The shows here are almost always done by local talent, and they are generally pretty good. The theatre is very small, but it is well run, and they can easily accommodate people with handicaps and older customers. There is a nice bar right outside the main door, and they will let you bring beverages into the theatre. This place has a nice, local feel that is a lot more personal than the big theatre houses downtown. Give it a try. You'll probably want to come back.
