Very helpful staff. The flowers down main street were gorgeous. We picked up maps, hiking trails, list of music concerts at the visitor Center. It's located right next to the park in downtown Winter Park. Very nice.
Informative place for newcomers. Showed me running areas and trail. Kids played for hour on the sled hill that had free sleds. Great place to stop when you get there if you have never been to winter park.
Lady working was very nice and gave great information about the area. Moose out front makes for a great picture with family.
Hideaway park is a true gem. It is located across the street from the Winter park visitors center. My three kids ages 9,9, and 7 played for hours at a time. There are fireplaces everywhere and free sleds for the kids to slide down the hill. Clean, well designed and free place! Can't beat that.
Although this place had lots of local information, that was really all they had. I was able to get flyers for local restaurants and other local attractions, etc, but they don't really have a lot of coupons, maps, or museum attractions if that is what you are looking for. The real gem is the trail that is easily accessed across the street just behind Hideaway park. If you keep to the left of the skate park, you will see a sign for Confluence park and there is a very short and scenic trail. I got some great photos here.
Very friendly staff! Stopped in for a few minutes before early dinner just to kill some time...ended up getting discounts on several things we had already planned to do!! Saved $40 in 5 minutes!
There was only one person working at lunch on a Saturday, and they had a long line they were working with. She was efficient, but definitely a bit overwhelmed. Getting a tree permit was easy. Be nice to the staff, they're there to help you.
As soon as we pulled into ton to check in at the Best Western, we saw the big moose out front of the Visitors Center and made it the first thing on our list the following morning! We had a family group of 10, so we all got fun pictures with the decorated moose! Afterwards, we went inside where all of the ladies were very friendly and HELPFUL! Gave us some good ideas of places to go with small children! They had Christmas candy and WINTER PARK chap stick to pass out too!
The visitor center is good, but just walk down the street to the park. The bathrooms are clean and well-lit. There are places to sit and enjoy a the warmth of a fire. We discovered the park many years ago when we stayed at the Gasthaus Eichler, now the Vasquez Creek Inn. During Winter, there are sleds out and a sledding hill, (with a small donation box). Just the thing to keep children busy and fun for the adults too. Everything is CLEAN, well-maintained and well lit. A great little activity for an evening or two!
Stop here for the latest updates. Can often find info on favorite hikes, coupons and fun things to do.
Very nice building and Great Moose Statue out front for photo ops. Seemed to be more of an ad agency for Wedding Venues than information for activities. Could use some pictures of area attractions including the village, bike trails, mountains views, fishing etc. Walls were filled with unorganized racks of paper brochures and a nice place to go to the bathroom. If this is the number two attraction in Winter Park then why bother coming here? This is a beautiful part of the State of Colorado and so close to Denver. This area is missing out by not promoting themselves better. If you come to Winter Park be sure to look around past the Village and drive a little further up the road to see the trout steams, old mining camps, Hot Springs, beautiful Mountain Scenery.
Everyone in the Visitor Center was nice, but really did not seem that knowledgeable about the area or activities. We were more excited about Winter Park than they seemed to be.
The staff was very helpful. They gave us several tips on activities in and around Winter park. They were extremely friendly.
Nice bathrooms, lot of brochures and info on events; some history. The moose was rastafarian with dreadlocks and all when we were there. I hear during football season he's dressed in a Bronco's jersey!
The staff offered many ideas for activities in the area. There is a good selection of information in a clean building.
