We had a great time at Rimrock Outfitters. We did the dinner ride with a large family group (19) ranging in ages from 6 to 79. Lynne, Perry, Gail, and. Bobby were great, making sure each rider had a horse matching their riding ability and experience. The were very personable, answering any and all questions (even silly ones) along the way. The scenery was magnificent, the meal was superb, and the after dinner entertainment was wonderful. If you are going to be in the area, you should make it a point to give Rimrock Outfitters a call.

When it's family vacation time and we head out anywhere close to Mancos, we make sure and visit Rimrock Outfitters! Perry and Lynne are the real deal, true cowboy and cowgirl with such a big heart! This is our 3rd trip back, would do it again and again! If you are wanting a wonderful experience, make sure to visit Rimrock!!!

We took the evening dinner ride. It is a small operation run by a couple. The wife (Lynn) leads the horses on the trails and the husband (Terry) rides ahead and prepares the meal. Then, Lynn takes out the guitar and signs some very good cowboy songs, yodeling included, with a most memorable backdrop of mountains, fields, and grazing horses. Afterward, there is another ride back to the stables. It is the most amazing trail ride I have ever taken. Should not be missed if you're in the area. As for the reviewer speaking about moving around on the horse and stretching her legs, again this is not your average trail ride and you're riding through some hilly country; riding safely is very important as throwing your weight around on a horse can lead to the horse stumbling on the terrain. As for helmets, it has been recently determined (even on mainstream news) that helmets do nothing to protect against head injuries. Better to help keep your horses' footing secure by riding in a safe manner. Will be coming back for sure next time we are in the area!

Well-behaved horses. Wrangler was not familiar dealing with riders with any physical issues. I was yelled at for taking my feet out of the stirrups to rotate them as well as stretching my hips while riding. If they were THAT concerned about safety then why on earth were we NOT wearing helmets during the ride?

While visiting my boyfriend's family in Mancos, we decided at the last minute to go horseback riding. We had evening plans and knew we could only fit in a two-hour ride. I gave Rimrock a call, and Perry was able to fit us in for a late afternoon ride.I figured for only two hours, we'd maybe get lucky and get a short ride around a lake or alongside a road. Instead, Lynne took my boyfriend and I through some amazing scenery in the Mancos Valley. We went around lakes, through a forest, by small streams -- it was beautiful. For all intents and purposes, we're beginner-level riders. I have experience trotting, but that's about the extent of my speed comfort level. Our horses were well-suited to our experience level, though mine (Biscuit) had some slight difficulty going downhill and I felt him stumble at least twice. It was nothing that made me fear for my safety, but it was a bit of a jolt.Lynne did a great job explaining some of the more important sites and then letting us take in the scenery and the nice ride. I would have loved to have had more time for a longer ride, and I hope to do so with Rimrock in the future.

We had some family visiting from the East Coast and Rimrock Outfitters allowed us to take them on a real western trail ride. It was my nine-year-old niece’s first trail ride and this experience couldn’t have been better. The fun started with visiting the ranch pets and some of the horses. The trail scenery was spectacular, with a huge variety of terrain, ranging from wooded forests to meadows and lakes. Their two dogs even joined us on the trail ride and were entertaining to watch. Lynne was very knowledgeable about the property and took the time to point out some highlights and historic landmarks. Thank you a fun afternoon !

As we started to plan our family vacation for this summer, we went out of the way to get to Mancos so we could ride horses at Perry and Lynne's place. Our family loves it there. You can't go wrong.....great people, great price!

We absolutely loved it. Lynne and Perry were perfect guides - friendly, interesting and obvious experts. The scenery was gorgeous and made me wonder why I work in a corporate environment. You will not be disappointed if you go with Rimrock Outfitters. Seriously.

Is your favorite western of all time Lonesome Dove or a John Wayne movie? If you answered "yes" and you find yourself in the Durango, CO area, this is a MUST! My husband & I splurged for the 3 hour ride. Perry took us on a beautiful ride among the San Juan forest, thru meadows & up to almost the mesa top. I'm pretty picky about the dude horses I hook-up with..and everything about Perry & Lynne's place was safe, sound, the pens totally clean & the horses were very well cared for. Very relaxing... plus we enjoyed their kitties & dogs too! Can't wait to go back someday & try another ride. MMmm... maybe a steak or breakfast ride...I bet the vittles would be awesome.

I have been privileged to be able to enjoy the dinner ride several times with Perry and Lynne.Perry and Lynne are great hosts. Food was great. Views are awsome. It just doesn't get any better. Look forward to a breakfast ride soon. Lynne's pancakes are hard to beat.

This is the real deal! When we got to Perry and Lynn's, we felt like family. They both are true western folks, who we have remained friends with. We are looking forward to going back this summer and they will be first on our list to go see! Our children still talk about them, great honest folks you can surely trust! You CAN NOT go wrong with them!

Wonderful experience. We called them up based on a recommendation of someone who had done a ride several years ago. No disappointment - completely satisfied experience! The breakfast ride was so nice. Weather perfect, horses geared up and ready to go when we arrived. About an hour on the trail, stop to eat home cooked meal over the wood fire camp stove; that was great. The homemade syrup was outstanding! Then another half hour back to the ranch. Ease of reserving over the phone and our time there was simple. Wish all life's transactions could be as easy.Looking forward to a time when I can return and do this again..... Well done Lynn and Perry! You both are truly special people and it shows in so many ways.

I called a week in advance after we decided to stay in Cortez. I spoke with Lynne on the phone, she was very friendly. We scheduled a 3 hour ride for $85 each. Rimrock Outfitters is right off of 160 just outside of Mancos and 2 1/2 miles up on Echo Basin Rd. Upon our arrival we met both Perry and Lynne, as well as their dogs and cats. Perry brought out the horses, got them saddled and we got on. Lynne gave us some tips before we left, which was nice. The ride, with Perry as our guide, took us through his property and the San Juan National Forrest. Many critters to see on the ride and in some parts, butterfly haven...so many butterflies, it was beautiful. Our horses were terrific. I rode a horse called Badger and I would recommend him for children or the novice rider, he also has a personality. My husband rode Ute and that horse had lots of personality. He liked to eat along the way. Beautiful scenery all around. If you are in the area, call Lynne and Perry. They offer more than just trail rides, check them out.

Visited with my daughter and expected the typical touristy bored guides and horses nose to tail. We were incredibly surprised at what we got! Lynne and Perry Lewis are down to earth lovely people. We were not part of a group but had the personal attention on Lynne with just my daughter and I on the ride. Fearful of rain and the black clouds threatening, Perry suggested we start off and decide mid ride whether or not to continue - we could settle up on the final price later. He offered us jackets out of his closet to assure we were warm and dry in case it did rain. The 2 hour tour (nope - the rain headed to the mountains) took us through meadows, across streams, through the forest and past pastures of horses. Lynne treated us like family, stopped for some bones my daughter noticed and acted as if she had nothing she wanted to do more than show us her piece of paradise. It made our trip to Colorado so special. Lynne and Perry both gave my daughter a parting gift after talking to us like family for 45 minutes or so around the picnic table after the ride. I highly recommend Rimrock Outfitters for any western style entertainment you are looking for. They offer breakfast and dinner rides, wagon rides, pack tours or just plain old trail rides. They are wonderful people. Thanks Lynne and Perry!

If you are looking for an experience of a lifetime and love adventure, this trail ride is a must! This is no typical, generic, tourist attraction. Everything from the healthy, alert horses to the well seasoned owners are the real deal. Lynn and/or Perry at RimRock Outfitters will take you through the incredible wilderness of the San Juan Mountains where you can see four state vistas, beautiful stands of Aspens, picturesque meadows, and snow capped mountains. We opted for the four hour ride and it was the perfect choice. We were lucky enough to catch the Aspen trees at their peak of color and thought the rimrocks were spectacular. Rimrock Outfitters is easy to find and very professional. We originally chose them because all of the other outfitters around Durango were not offering trail rides due to hunting season. However, we were so pleased with Rimrock we can't wait to return! Our trail ride was the highlight of our vacation and although we had not been on a horse for many years and were concerned about the length of the ride, the time flew by and we had very few repercussions. The only drawback is that some of the trail is little more than a deer trail and the scrub oak is very dense. (Be sure to wear heavy jeans and if you can get chaps, bring them!)
