Our playgroup went camping together with about 20 kids. The group site we stayed on was great! There were bath rooms with real toilets and showers, (bring quarters if you want a shower though, $.50 a shower). The group site was private, the kids were free to run around safely. The swim lake was shallow and warm! The deepest area was about 3 feet. There is also a marina that offers boat and jet ski rental. Great fun for all!

While traveling through Coloardo, seen sign on expressway about State park, decided to stay the evening as it was getting late. What a mistake. This is a very poorly taken care of State Park, one of the worst we ever seen. Weeds by camp sites knee high and had been sprayed with roundup, to lazy to cut them down, lawn was mowed but no trimming done all year. They have a newer shower and flush toilets building but it is scary, very poorly maintained. We do not suggest anyone wasting there time here, management is very poor. This could be a gem if it was managed better, unknown who is supervising it but they need a different job. Stay away.

Good camp sites to be found, the tent sites are nice and secluded from wind and sun, yet very close to water. The beach is delightful, but can get busy due to its small size. Easy to get to and close to town (Ft Morgan) and nice marina if things are needed. Camp hosts gave us a nice heads-up of approaching weather, including the following days weather report.It is windy the majority of the time, which does blow away the bugs, but makes fishing from camp site shore difficult. Make sure things are put away or tied down at all times. Trash can be found all around the bushes/trees around the tent sites. There is only one dumpster that we found. It can be a long haul before bed...don't leave things out for the critters who creep around in the night.And the ugly...the water! Filled with slimy green algae that gets in your suit and caked on your body in certain areas. A boat trip around the lake finds masses of it everywhere. Watch the spray/wake from passing boats, it is green! At least there are showers available. It doesn't seem like the fish like it either, only the big, ugly, inedible carp swim here.

We have visited many of the Colorado State Parks and this one will become one of our favorites. We camped with our RV in one of the tree lined loops and it was very quiet and very relaxing. We enjoyed the lake, the walks around some of the trails, the wildlife, and campfires in our fire ring. While we didn't take advantage of the marina on this trip, we did check it out and you can buy just about anything that you might want of need including ice, firewood, and many basic groceries. You can even rent a boat or ski-do there if you want to spend some money. During our visit, overall, the park seemed well maintained and clean but we have seen better at other state parks. Our guess is that they need a few more volunteer camp hosts. And yes there are some bugs but what else would you expect when camping next to a large body of water.

We stopped to find a friend, and came across this lake. We thought they may be out swimming. There were a fair amount of people. The local kids were swimming where it was low, I looked over the edge to see kids of various ages swimming in green mossy water...eww. I wasn't about to let my family get in, even though I know it is a natural process by nature. We had fun with some seagulls whom didn't seem too afraid of us. We saw prairie birds, and an old fallen tree by the road side. Everyone there seem to be having fun, and looked like a great place, although we couldn't hang around too long, we did take some pics to share :^)

My husband and I went with our granddaughter. The lake was warm and fairly shallow, with a sandy bottom. It was perfect for kid swimming. Some campsites have trees, many others do not. some of the sites next to the beach have large rocks on the shoreline. We had a little sandy beach. But, the flying bugs were terrible!!! At first we thought they were mosquitoes, but then realized they don't bite (which is the only reason we stayed). They traveled in herds, all day long. Our trailer looked like someone had peppered it. The marina and bathroom next to it, had hundreds all over the ground. It's too bad, because it would have been a fantastic place otherwise.

This was the dirtiest state park we have stayed at and we have been to a lot. There was trash everywhere. The bugs were overwhelming. The wind never stopped!!! The fish finder couldn't even find any fish. The water kept decreasing everyday. The one positive was I got pictures of 2 eagles!!!

I brought my 6 year-old and some of his cousins to the lake with our pontoon boat the weekend after Memorial day for a weekend camping trip. The wind was blowing at 40 mph or more the entire time, making it impossible for us to pitch tents. Finally we decide to use the truck with the boat behind it to form a kind of "wall" to block the wind so we could set up tents. Of course the ranger immediately came and told me not park on the grass. I explained that it was only long enough to set up tents and get stakes in the ground. He rudely said something like "rules are rules", but then told me we could park the boat on the grass, just not the truck. So, I unhitched the boat and moved the truck to the parking space. The next morning after a cold, miserable night of non-stop wind (we couldn't start a fire for fear of the wind blowing sparks into the grass so we had cold sandwiches for dinner and the kids didn't get smores), I returned from the bath house to find out from my cousin in the next site that the SAME ranger had returned and said I had half an hour to move the boat off the grass or I would get a ticket and fine. I asked him if he had reminded the ranger that he was the one who authorized us to park the boat on the grass, and apparently the ranger had no memory of this. At the end of my patience (and fed up with the non-stop cursed wind), I decided to leave. We packed the gear and all the kids up and went to the front gate to see if I could get a refund for the additional day I had already paid for. The front gate employee happily told me that no refunds were issued. I left furiously, and I'm sure they wasted no time in re-selling my paid campsite to some other poor sucker that evening. Take my advice and stay away unless you want your tent to become a kite, while the park employees laugh at your expense.

The reservoir is primarily for irrigating but the facilities for fishing is maintained by the State Division of Wildlife. They have done a nice job maintaining it, but the drought plays a toll on the experience, especially in the late summer.

My family camped here over Memorial Day weekend. Despite the campground being full, the restrooms were well maintained. My children loved the swim beach, and the short nature trail was also enjoyable.

I have camped here 4 times over the past year. Peak season the whole place is packed. Can't really find space to relax on the beach. Lots of families, which isn't so awesome since I don't have any. Off season is when this place rocks though! Very warm water. It's shallow so you can walk out far. Beaches are sandy and nice. Some areas have electrical hookup, some don't. It is in tornado country so caution!

This so called lake in in the middle of no where. Camping allowed on state park area. Appears to have hookup. Did not stay at camping area- stayed at the other end where houses and mobile home are at. Water level was very low, no scenery, but beach was clean for the most part.
