Our family had a great time! The staff was extremely nice and friendly. Our 6 year old loved feeding the animals--especially the rabbits. Definitely worth going!

Although not very big place the animals are well taken care of and the staff was very knowledgable about the animals there. Mountain Lion, Bull Elk, Bobcat, Red Fox, Brown Bear ( hibernating) Wolf mix, lost of bunnies running around for kids to feed. Again a low budget park that allows you a place to get out and walk around. I had an enjoyable time, well the worth the 7 dollars to get in.

A great family stop in to learn about local wildlife. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Gift store, free coco and cookies was a plus.

my husband and i just returned from a quick visit to this park. We visited just in time for afternoon feeding which i would highly recommend. The lady feeding the animals was very knowledgeable and you could tell how much she cares for the animals. She also takes the time to answer any questions you might have. The owner is super nice and her love for all animals is clear. i would recommend this stop to anyone looking for a quick visit if they have an hour -hour/half to fill.

We went to the refuge for the daily 4:00 feeding and it was amazing. For only 7 bucks we got an hour and 45 minute guided tour of the place, seeing wolves, coyotes, a bear, an elk, and several other species. They gave us a small bag of food to feed the bunnies. The tour guide was very knowledgable about all the animals they had, both in the refuge and how they behave in the wild. Overall, it was a fun and knowledgable experience , for both kids and adults. And a great value.

Paid for the 1 hour trail ride where the guides barely spoke, did not introduce themselves or ask the riders' names. The ride went along the outside of the wild animal park where there was no "tour" as they did not highlight anything about scenery or animals or anything. The 1 hour ride lasted only 40 minutes. Riders were bored out of their minds. When I called to complain and express our dissatisfaction, I was put through to the owner, Dick Ray. The "gentleman" was curt, cussed at me and ultimately hung up on me. And I quote, "what do you want lady, be fast?" I said I'd like some money back. He said, "come get your damn money and have fun."We returned to get our money (honestly, we were willing to simply get a refund for the 1 hour and pay for the 1/2 hour ride). The owner's wife decided to argue with us as we returned. We were simply following her husband's instructions to return and did not expect yet another unpleasant experience with the owner's wife. She was equally rude and honestly completely uninformed about the situation. The entire experience was horrific and NOT a representation of Pagosa Springs business owners-who are typically kind, gracious and provide excellent services.We did still tip our guides and paid for the Wild Park Entrance.Highly recommend if you want a fun horseback tour with good value, go to Straddle a Saddle. I am certain you will be pleased and not cussed at, argued with or hung up on!!!

Ok not great but with going. Go at feeding time 4pm. The were very nice and woke the bear up so my son could see her. The goats were horrible one is huge and fat and horns the little white one

The animals are fed every afternoon at 4:00 during the summer. The animals are mostly rescue animals. The animals all come very close to the visitors during feeding. The guide gave the animals' histories and told us of their individual personalities. At first the grizzly bear's cage looked small but then the bear walked out into the large back area where she catches rabbits on her own. There are cages but they meet or exceed federal and state requirements. This was very enjoyable and I would highly recommend going at feeding time.

We stopped by here when we were staying in Pagosa Springs. Make no mistake: the park is small. When we were about half way done walking around, one of the staff members joined us and spent about an hour showing us the various animals, calling them to the fence line and interacting with them. Additionally, she shared the background on many of these animals. Had it not been for this good fortune, I would rate this attraction as "average." I highly recommend showing up around 3:30pm and then joining the feeding tour (starts with the "Princess" the bear) at 4pm. The staff clearly cares for these animals, which for a myriad of reasons cannot return to the wild.The gift shop has an interesting and eclectic collection of things to buy, many not your typical gift shop fare.

the bear and wolves and other animals were caged, just like in a zoo. It seems that the animals are used for profit, because there wasn't anything happy about them. you pay for the entrance so they can be fed, but other than that, it's just sad for the animals.

I'm not sure why this is getting such high reviews. While staying in the area on spring break with our two kids, we decided to visit this park based on the reviews on TripAdvisor. We were all disappointed. This park had 2 coyotes that were sleeping, a grizzly bear that was inside of a brick structure and hardly visible, two porcupines that were in a small kennel insides of pet taxis, an elk that was sleeping in a field, a bobcat, a mountain lion (we did see its tail while it was sleeping on a platform way up high), some goats that we had to walk through very slippery and deep mud to see, two sleepy wolves, and a very friendly emu who will eat right out of your hand. Inside of the cabin where you pay $7 per adult and $5 per child, you can see some common pet store animals (guinea pigs, cats and a lizard). They do have a sugar glider in there, but we were only able to see a small amount if his fur since he was sleeping in a hammock type thing in his cage. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this park. I felt it was too expensive and we didn't get to see any of the animals moving around (maybe it was the time of day since we went at 1pm?). I also felt that the animals were in poor quality environments, although adequate for them to live in, they were very boring for visitors...pet taxis! My kids had more fun feeding wild turkeys in the parking lot than they did walking through the park.

We decided to walk around the park on our own but we had a "guide" whether we wanted one or not. A darling little calico cat followed us the whole way and took the opportunity to sit with us/on us when we paused for a brief rest to get the petting of her life time. The animals were very interesting and the park is doing a great job of keeping animals that otherwise would not be alive today. We stayed for the feeding tour and the guide was very informative and I enjoyed asking her a million questions and getting honest and intelligent answers. These folks know what they are doing and they do it very well.

Great, caring staff. Animals in their care could not survive in the wild. We were disappointed the bear was hibernating but that was just a timing issue. Visit well worth the price if you are there at feeding time. Our guide was very knowledgable and patient with the 'dumb' city folk questions. Excellent way to spend a couple hours if you're animal lovers. Shop in their store as proceeds benefit the rescue. Also, the smaller animals that call the store home are fun to hold.

We were done skiing wolf creek (they needed some fresh snow), and found this gem. A very nice way to spend an afternoon. Definitely go during feeding time. We learned a lot. Very knowledgable staff, warm and compassionate. Animals are well-cared for.

We went for feeding time and had a good time. I was honestly worried when we pulled up but figured the kids (6 and 2) would enjoy it. It ended up that we all enjoyed it. All the staff was very warm and welcoming. The lady leading the tour and doing the feeding was very knowledgeable. So much so that our youngest got a bit bored with the time at each enclosure. But we would wander away with her then come back when we moved on. It was really neat to see the animals up close and learn about them. The kids loved feeding the goats and bunnies too.
