This visitor center is located near the town of Grand Lake on the western side of RMNP. It was a nice place to stop as part of our Trail Ridge Rd driving day. We checked out the displays and our son turned in this junior ranger booklet here and got sworn in as a junior ranger and earned a badge for his growing collection.

We started here into the park. Watched the movie and it was informative. Made the trip even better. Staff very helpful. Displays were good too.

Not one of my favorite RMNP VCs. Not very inspiring displays. Flush toilets if you need to go though.

This visitor center is from the south entrance from Grand Lake and the best entrance to come into the park. The center is very informative and ask they where the wildlife has been spotted for the day and they usually have the answer. They have gifts/souveniers and restroom facilities.

While in the area visiting a friend, my daughter and I had the opportunity to do some exploring and the Kawuneeche Visitor Center was a hot spot for us. The rangers are very helpful and the host several programs for kids and adults. My daughter (8) took part in several activities and even became an official Junior Ranger. Ranger Barb and Ranger Steven were awesome! If you have kids do not miss the Walk Back in Time activity. There are so many cool things to do and this is the place to get ALL the info!

We finally stopped here on our last trip after having driven by numerous times before. The visitor center is informative. It is a great place to get information from one of the rangers. Nicely done.

We went to the visitor center with bad weather threatening. We asked the rangers for advice on a hike to match our time and fitness level. The hike was perfect.

We really enjoyed this side of the park. It's far less crowded and a lot of animal sightings. Stop in here and ask the Rangers where the "hot spots" are. The moose and elk are very active here. I think they like the areas that are less active and more quiet.

Ran into a sarcastic young ranger who wasn't very helpful...but on this side of the park I didn't need her. If you're over here "on purpose" you're looking for moose! So get outside and go enjoy. We spotted 24 of them in a late afternoon/early evening setting.

This is a great source of information if you're just entering the park. The displays are interesting, and the staff can tell you about recent animal sightings. You're in for a treat, for Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the coolest places I've ever been: a diversity of environments, good wildlife viewing, great picnicking, hiking trails, breathtaking views.

I guess the Rocky Mountain National Park may be an awesome experience in the summer, but not really worth the trip if on the West side from October to May. They close the access only 15 miles from Grand Lake, and that is a pity.We came from Vail, and were pretty disappointed that we could not go up further in the mountains. There are some stops along the way, but nothing exciting. The Holtzwarth Historic site may be good for a stroll and the Coyote Valley trailhead for a 1h walk. But we did see no animals, and everything was pretty deserted. The nature and mountains are beautiful, though so if you're nearby it may be worth the trip.My suggestion to the Park, would be either allow us to drive up further or not have the visitor pay the fee. For $10 there's not much here to do.

We always stop at the visitors centers on our first day in RMNP each fall. For the first time we stayed in Grand Lake and enjoyed the west side of the park. The visitor’s center has some great information about the park and a little area with some displays that are informative. The reason we stop each time is because of the people. The Kawuneeche group did not disappoint, they were informative and friendly giving us so great ideas about hikes and where to see animals. (They were dead on in this category). Even after being out of work until the day before we arrive, because of the Government shutdown, the people were as friendly as ever and ready to help out.

Friendly rangers, an excellent bookstore, clean restrooms. Much less hectic than Alpine VC or the east side. Be sure to check out the little creek and wildflowers nearby. Very pretty.
