sucker brook trail

Nice trail though be prepared for "wet" mucky conditions in spots and a bug or two after all this is the Adirondacks! If you enjoy hiking you will enjoy this.

This trail take off from Lewey Lake Campground, and is very beautiful. But beware, there are seveal issues to be experienced, including:1. It is wet, and crosses Sucker Brook without bridges in many place. In wetter months, you will get soaked.2. It doesn't provide you with a good round-loop trip, It is a straight line into the West Canada Lakes Wilderness area.3. It may not be marked in all places.4. After the first few miles, it ascends steeply, to the col between Cellar and Lewey Mountains. Be prepared for some strenuous hiking.Besides that, yes, it is a pretty good place to hike. I should know...I was the Wilderness Park Ranger there many years ago!
