They will claim your boat is damaged on return and charge you extra. If you rent from them take pictures and video when first getting the boat.

If you like spending a couple of hours aboard a vintage wood touring boat, captained by a knowledgeable, witty guy named "Crabby Bob", make sure your Adirondack trip takes in an afternoon or sunset cruise on the matchless, clear waters of Blue Mountain Lake. Each trip takes an intimate sojourn through the Eckford Chain of Lakes. The lore of the area and its 19th Century entrepreneurs provides the story; thick forests, jagged mountain ridges, huge glacier-placed boulders, and the fancies of your imagination plot your journey. Past and present promise that the future may not blemish the beauty of this place. Make the time to take the time while you can. You won't forget it.

After I wrote my last review about my poor experience, I received a pretty harassing private email from owner. Instead of apologizing, I got an email calling me a "coward and poor excuse for a man"....Seriously? who does that. Never in my life have I witnessed such poor behavior from a business, or from a person in general. They also suggested I should never return to the lake all together, I've been going to this lake my entire life and live nearby. I am disgusted that someone could be so shallow and inappropriate. They ripped me off and now it's my fault...ridiculous. Avoid at all costs. This absurdly rude business owner should be reported to the BBB.

Excellent tour -- very informative! Captain Bob obviously loves his job. Thank you for the great tour!

We watched loons dive into the clear water, admired elegant summer homes and laughed at the many jokes and stories shared by our guide during a recent boat tour of Blue Mountain Lake.My husband and I joined14 other guests onboard a 90-year-old restored wooden boat which cruised through three lakes. The boat glided slowly through the crystal clear water during a sunny fall afternoon. The trees were turning red, gold and orange. Those colors were reflected in the lake which gave us a mirror image of the trees. We saw a beaver poke its head up through the water and stare at us briefly before hiding behind his dam again. Loons swam in front of the boat and occasionally dived down to catch their lunch of fresh fish. Ducks paddled past.We marveled at the beautiful summer homes we passed. We also saw islands and large rocks, perfect for jumping into the water - something our guide told us he did every year. Kayaks and canoes cruised past us, their occupants waving to us.This is a slow, gentle ride. Don't worry about getting motion sickness. The boat never goes fast enough to upset anyone's stomach. Our guide, Bob, gave us a brief history lesson about the three lakes we cruised through. He was funny, entertaining and friendly. It's worth taking the trip just to listen to Bob's stories and jokes. This was a fun, beautiful and entertaining boat ride well worth the $20 cost. We recommend it highly. Don't miss it.

My wife and I have been visiting Blue Mountain Lake for several years. One of her friends visited us on this year's vacation trip and we did the boat tour. It was fantastic. Bob was super friendly and informative, the trip covered three lakes and was well worth it. The views were spectacular and it was a great time. We wondered why we waited so long to try this and we will probably do this again next year, based on our experience this year. If you are in Blue Mountain Lake area definitely do give this a try.

The Booth Brothers know their lakes, their histories, all their quirky stories. Mike Booth is a riot with his pithy advice, tales of fishing with his father, and dishing on the locals. We couldn't stop laughing. But we also learned a lot about the environment of this stunningly beautiful area. Can't wait to go out again next year. Absolutely delightful afternoon!

We took a fabulous tour with Blue Mountain Lake Boat Livery through Blue Mountain Lake, Eagle Lake and Utowana Lake. What can I say - the Booth family is amazing - warm, friendly and eager to share their knowledge of Blue Mountain Lake and the Adirondack golden age. We could have listened to stories about Adirondack history (and their family history - which goes back generations in Blue Mountain Lake) all day long. The boat ride was a trip highlight and something we will never forget - that's coming from a couple who have been the ADKs 7 times. Our kids (11, 9) also really enjoyed themselves! Looking forward to seeing more of Blue Mountain Lake on a future trip.

First off, these guys are some of the coolest and most helpful guys you can go to in the Adirondacks. When you're arriving late to camp at Blue Mountain Lake on a rainy day and all hope is lost, this is the place to go! They stayed open for us, gave us a great deal and were just real straight up guys. They were extremely knowledgeable about the camping sites on the Blue Mountain Lake and gave us a map to get to the islands. If you are planning a camping trip to the Adirondacks, make sure to stop here! I wish I could give them 9 stars to make up for any bad reviews.

The best part of our trip!! We stopped by the Livery to see about renting a boat and Bob invited us on one of the tours that was about to leave. It was AWESOME!! He is a great guy that is passionate about this area and did an amazing job sharing the history. We learned a so much!! If you are anywhere near the area, you have to get over to The Livery, it is a fantastic time!! Thanks Bob!!

The "Scam Alert" review is not accurate. Our prices are consistant with surrounding marinas. We take our customers and reviews very seroiusly at the Boat Livery. 106 consecutive summers of operation 38 of them under the current ownership has afforded us a fair amount of "boating basics" as well as lifetime friends and customers we like to talk to. Gasoline is not usually included in any rental, cars, boats, or any type of equipment. I trul;y Regret this customer had such a sour experience that we could have taken care of with a simple conversation at any point when he was signing the rental agreement or his credit card reciept. If one of our employees made an error in charges I am always quick to resolve the matter to the customers satisfaction.Quin BoothGeneral Manager.

You probably wouldn't expect heavenly homemade pies to be sold in the same place you would rent water skis. Sold in a little wooden shack in front of the boat livery, Mary Jane's pies will not disappoint. They are filled with real fresh fruit, (not that sickeningly sweet, jelly-donut-quality mess you'll find in pies of a lesser quality), and the crust is buttery perfection. Go early because quantities are limited, and you won't want to miss the blueberry pie. I have enjoyed Mary Jane's pies on three trips to the Adirondacks, as recently as August 2013 and as long ago as the early 2000s, and each time they are just as good as I remembered them. Don't let the $16 price tag scare you away. Allow yourself to splurge on the blueberry pie; it's worth every penny!

I just spent a weekend camping on an island in Blue Mtn Lake with a party of twenty people. We rented our canoes from Blue Mtn Lake Boat Livery and I highly recommend working with them. This was a large trip that involved people arriving to the boat launch at different days/times, and the folks at the boat livery were immeasurably helpful. We had a couple groups boating out to the campsite after the livery closed and they even set everything up for the latecomers at the launch and it all worked out smoothly. From coordinating the trip over the phone to helping us out with little things like charging phones and giving directions to great spots on the lake, we were consistently blown away by how nice and helpful the staff at the livery were. This is my second time renting canoes from Blue Mtn Lake Boat Livery and I'll continue coming back.

We've been vacationing in the Adirondacks for 14 years, and have always come to Blue Mountain Lake. There is not much in the way of commerce in BML, but the only thing you really need there is a boat, bait, and great desserts, and the BML Boat Livery has them all. We have rented kayaks, motor boats, bought all types of bait, and indulged in their great hand scooped ice cream, and purchased at least 50 homemade pies from them over the years. Because we stay at BML, after a morningm and early afternoon of hiking, canoeing, kayaking and/or jumping off Rock Island, our family will canoe over to the Boat Livery for an ice cream cone. The best kept secret in the Adirondacks is the BML Boat Livery's homemade pies! We usually eat 3-4 pies during our two-week stay at Blue, and will often buy one to bring home to Maryland. And BTW, "Crabby Bob" is not Crabby at all.

You can get fresh pies and ice cream here, as well as bait and tackle for your fishing trip. It's also an internet cafe (wifi on the patio)! The owners can answer any questions you have about the area. Be sure to take the boat tour, it's worth it. Fun and informative, and the scenery is beautiful as it goes through three lakes.
