Located in Uptown Kingston, the firemans museum is a small building that will give you some local history on firefighting. There are also restaurants and shops located nearby. Uptown Kingston also has a farmers market on the weekends. Nice place to hang out and/or eat during the warmer weather.
Was enjoyed by three generations. We appreciated all of the little extra time/attention given by the fireman to my son. He really engaged him and showed him some very cool things we had overlooked. Worth a stop!
The volunteer fireman who guides the visitors was friendly, knowledgeable and good with children. There was enough to interest the children and many displays that we adults found interesting as well.
We were fortunate to be in Kingston when Volunteer Fireman's Hall & Museum was open and loved it! Ted is the resident Firemans fireman and an ex Fire Captain from Upstate NY. He gave us a great tour of the firehouse including the vehicles, firefighting equipment and the history of firefighting in Kingston and Upstate NY. We had a great time and cant wait to do it again ... Thanks Ted for your time and service!
What a great place. The Tour de Kingston bike ride stops there every year and the members are great. They let the kids and adults check out all of the epuipment and the trucks. It is always a big hit for the kids.
my dad was a fire chief so i could relate to it. my daughter is also in the fire dept and we just enjoyed the hole area and people were very friendly.
A great rainy day excursion and its FREE! Bring your walking shoes and reading glasses whether you are 8 or 80 this is a wonderful museum
It's free..donation only and we brought our 2 & 4 year olds...it was just the right size museum for them. They liked sitting in the old fashioned fire engine and looking around upstairs at the model fire trucks. Took us about 20 minutes to go through the whole thing, but the gentleman there is kind, gave the kids free fire hats & stickers....a good time.
