A great venue, I've seen a couple of shows here. Reasonably inexpensive for the acts they offer. Parking for shows can be a pain in the butt, but not so awful you can't find anything. Can't wait for summer to go again!
Artpark in Lewiston, N.Y. has a reputation as a great venue for music (I've been to my share of concerts there) but we mustn't forget there are other things that make it special. The Lewiston Mound, a prehistoric burial mound, is located there. There are hiking trails, picnic areas, children's activities, performing and visual art, and you can fish there (if you want to make the hike down to the river). Today was kind of chilly for walking but this park is worth it.
This open-air venue is lovely. Whether you sit in the chairs are on the expense of grass it is a great place to be entertained. Unfortunately, some of the grass seats can be Far far away from the stage
Nice location to watch an outdoor performance in the summer. But can get overcrowded for the Tuesday night summer concert series.
I went to Artpark quite a bit a few years ago and always enjoyed the entertainment and seating. Haven't been there lately but hope to get there again in the summertime.
The concerts are awesome. They are affordable , safe, fun. You don't feel cramped & crowded like other places. I have seen several concerts there & was never disappointed.
Artpark was once a shining star and is now a bit tarnished. It could be improved with better use of the lovely layout and upgraded outdoor concert amenities. Better yet, it should be utilized more in offering workshops for children, theater training, and artists-in-residence. I'd love to see an actual residence created as a summer resort for artists, somewhere in Lewiston or Youngstown to accomodate out-of-town artists. I'd also like to see a local artists on display type of event. A psychic fair would bring in tons of revenue if offered in the fall or summer. Partnering with Buffalo's Music is Art festival creators to bring in local musical artists as an offshoot venue would also be a great idea. You have the acreage - and there is plenty of talent in WNY. Additionally, promoting the LewPort high school musical or theater productions from N.U. and N.C.C. at the main concert hall would bring in more revenue as well. Be more creative and promote, promote, promote.
Most people only know about Tuesday night concerts, which are great. But there's a lot more to Artpark. For starters it's a lovely place for a picnic along the Niagara River. There are art programs for kids all summer long. We enjoyed the free movie night outside, wish they had more of them! And there are shows for just about everyone, including a Broadway musical. This year they added "ArtParked" which was a free arts and craft show with a ton of vendors. We had a lot of fun and there was a nice selection of food vendors. I hope they continue this.We highly recommend visiting Artpark. Oh, and I am not downplaying Tuesday nights. Between my husband and myself we have not missed a Tuesday in the Park in the nine years we have lived here!
I have been enjoying concerts at Art Park for 14 years. i am so lucky to live in Lewiston and be able to attend big name concerts for such a reasonable price and still get home in 15 minutes. (We know the short cuts). I think the volunteers handle the crowds well and it's worth purchasing a drink or meal for the reasonable price that we are getting to see such acts as Ringo Star, Heart, Hall and Oats, etc... I also love the dog park at Art Park which my dog enjoys on a regular basis.
Been here a few times now and it's a great little venue. Easy to get in and out of for parking. Can check out some of the art installations and the Niagara River prior to the concert. They have some decently priced food inside the venue. Would definitely recommend getting a seat inside just in case of inclement weather. It's a pretty small venue so even the cheap seats should have a good view.
If you ever get a chance to see a music show here make it a cant miss. The venue and relaxed feeling is spectacular. Also very affordable for an exciting evening out. Food and drink is also very reasonable.
My family and I lucked out a scored a great spot to see Ringo in June. Unfortunately, there's nowhere too great to watch a concert while sitting down. It rained a lot that day and I was impressed that the show went on. My only problem with the location was the sheer amount of people they try to fit into the area. If don't come early, you probably won't score a good spot. Bring a chair and an umbrella if it's supposed to rain.
Saw Styx here Aug 19th. General Admission tickets cost $12. Reserved seating ( with chairs ) is a bit more but well-located in the front. There looks to be a nice variety of food trucks ( we ate at Brickyard BBQ in Lewiston prior to coming in ). You need to come several hours before the show to find a good spot - alot of regulars will reserve space for people they know. The adult beverages are fairly priced and much more variety than you'd find at a Bills' game.
Although a far-ish ride, we came to see Mary Poppins and it did not disappoint. The parking was easy and centrally located The theater was beautiful, and they allowed snacks and drinks inside which was a hugh bonus. We came on a beautiful summer day, so our experience was heightened due to that. The kids enjoyed running around in the play area before and after the show (every child in the place, actually!) The only con I would say is the bathroom situation, there is one tiny bathroom outside the theatre and the one inside the theatre fills up so fast and the line during intermission moved way too slow.
Loved the show and the Artpark amphitheater was a great location for the show. Really enjoyed it! It would have been good if it was designed with ceiling fans to move the air but overall, comfortable.
