The Beach at East Hampton was nice in the August> The Parking was tough to find, and it was pretty crowded, but the beach was well maintained.

My hometown: boasting a wide swath of sandy beach for all the public to enjoy! On this particular village beach there is a main traditional cedar shake building with covered porch that offers bathroom facilities and a snack bar featuring the usual summer fare of food choices. Play volley ball if you own a net, walk the shoreline and play with the seagulls, find shells, and relax. What not to do? Leave your garbage behind for others to clean up or worse, birds and marine life to become tangled in when the tide brings it out to sea. No dogs allowed on any beaches from early morning to 6pm every day during the summer season from Memorial Day through Labor Day without penalty of fine. Learn the rules and visit our town's beaches. This one is well populated in the summer and we care deeply our environment for the generations to come who will enjoy the beauty of our beaches. Parking available for non-residents for a fee at first come first serve basis. Main Beach is one of East Hampton's most beloved destination at all times of the year.

We went early October this year but last year we visited in summer. The beach was wonderfully quiet and still a great place to spend an afternoon!

I bet this beach is packed all summer and hard to get to, but we were there on a Monday and Tuesday in October, with our dog, and loved it. We parked with no problem and had a whole patch of beach all to ourselves. Gorgeous beach.

Main Beach is always a great day. The sand is clean the water looks beautiful. The snack bar has good food for what it is. Meaning it has a lot more than what you would expect a snack bar to have. It is never crowded and its a great place to take a walk and see the mansions on the beach. Parking is obviously difficult if you don't have a permit. They have a ride share system with a large golf cart thing. That is a good service, though some of the drivers are a bit obnoxious. If you are out East for a visit or even for a day trip, Main Beach is worth it. BRING CASH. They don't accept CC at the parking or at the snack bar.

180 degree panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, with a number of Easthampton Mansions adorning the raised shoreline behind the southern portion of the beach, make for a gorgeous contrast of nature and man's handiwork; The sand: clean, golden and non-sticky; The waves normally are of medium intensity (NOTE, on Aug 27, 2014, due to an atypical confluence of the full moon and early effects of hurricane Cristobal, the swells though aesthetically pleasing, and melodiously thunderous, became bodaciously huge, with intense riptides - see my "I Fought The Wave and The Wave Won" picture); Beachgoers comprised a pleasant and low key mixture of affluent and regular folk, with diverse age groups and cultures represented; life guards are very professional, and remain on duty until 5:00 P.M.; Note: Food and bathroom facilities close at 5:00 P.M. PROMPTLY and there are no "Porta-Potties" present at this beach; There is a $25 daily parking fee for Easthampton non-residents, without a season pass; however, after 5:00 P.M., beach parking is free; Moreover, once 5:00 P.M. arrives, some beachgoers bring amplifiers, play music and volleyball; BTW, you can cook on the beach via wood-fueled fires, however, before you leave the beach, you must douse any fires that you make using water ONLY; The Hamptons has many great beaches, but you won't be disappointed by Easthampton's "Main Beach". Directions: it's easy to get to if you drive from NYC, which i did: A.) Take I-495, (the Long Island Expressway) headed East; B.) get off at exit 70; C.) take County Road 111 towards NY-27E (just follow the signs); D.) take NY-27E (remain on NY-27E as you pass Hampton Bays, go through Southampton, continue through Bridgehampton, move on through Wainscott, and finally arrive in Easthampton; Note that traffic in step D can bog down to a crawl, adding 15-25 minutes to your trip, as you navigate NY-27E through Southampton and Bridgehampton, but picks up afterwards; E.) Enter Easthampton, and take right turn off of NY-27E onto Ocean Ave; F.) Stay on Ocean Ave. (bearing left at the split in the road) until you get to Main Beach. G.) Park the car and jump in the water. Beautiful beach+bodacious waves+aesthetic surroundings+nice people=Winner !!! I loved every second, and can't wait to go again next year.

Sand was rough, bathrooms needed cleaning but the view was beautiful, I enjoyed myself but expected more because it's the famous Hampton's

Clean, great covered deck, outdoor showers, short walk to car. Sand is better than Atlantic Avenue or Amagansett options, though the boogie boarding is better at those spots.

We passed through the Hamptons today to check out the real estate and the scenery. We had heard such great things, but now we wonder how folks can even live or play here. The traffic is terrible. Bumper to bumper from Southampton to Montauk. On Monday! We finally ended up at the beach parking lot, confronted by yet another New Yorker demanding payment for parking. But in this case, there was no amount of money that we could pay, because we were from out of town! Needless to say, we did a quick U-turn and high-tailed it out of the Hamptons (which took another two hours to exit due to traffic). The beach looked cold, shell-less, and steep. Kind of like the rest of the area.

Love MB, it is a little crowded and energetic. Still amazing beach and plenty to love! Highly recommend.

Amazing wide beach area with deep soft sand. Concessions are open in the season and offer great burgers and sandwiches. Just a great family beach that never feels too crowded!

I won't tell you where I go to the beach, because it's freaking amazing and like the nicest spot on earth (really), but MB is way too crowded and for some reason has a large Jersey crowd (nothing against, but hard to understand, as NJ has lovely beaches). BTW, and might sound crazy, but in EH, Jersey is on the left, NY on the right side of the beach. Go far right and you usually won't go wrong. The big plus here is the easy drop off relative to some others and that it has a great little service center with food, bathrooms and showers and cabanas. It's a very nice beach, but not the best.
