This is the third, and finally successful, attempt to visit the North Tonawanda/Klydel Wetlands site located at the end of Raymond Street. The first time I went to check out an owl prowl that was scheduled but the snow was still too deep for some in my party. The second time we were driven out by a horde of mosquitoes (forgot our spray and protective gear). This time, however, the autumn weather was perfect for a late afternoon hike. This is a dawn to dusk site with no amenities. We entered at Raymond Street where there is parking for about 3 cars. I understand there are other access points. We walked past the sign, into the preserve, across a tiny wooden bridge, and onto the trail. We enjoyed a leisurely hike through a small part of the preserve sighting several white-tail deer and squirrels. As it was starting to get dark, we headed back determined to return soon - a little earlier in the day.I know they have owl prowls here but understand that there are also nature walks, educational programs, and geocaching. It seems to be a good area for birding. There are about 70 acres of woods/wetlands here with 36 acres available to the public. The trails appeared to be maintained
