it's a piece of heaven right here on the big blue planet...Magical sunsets year-round & fantastic white sand beach. Truly a paradise in the Northeast.

Point Lookout Beach is a beautiful little hamlet on the south shore of Long Island. get there by car or train. Long Island rail road and then cab it to the beach. One of the best vista on the south shore and the bay side the view goes on forever. looking west you can see the new Freedom tower, and south east wetlands and fishing boats. We had dinner at a place called Scotty's food was great and the atmosphere was welcoming and mellow. Hbo filmed Mildred pierce there just recently because the architecture of the homes resembles southern California. If you go by car the speed limit is 15 miles an hour so be prepared to chill no parking on streets but the restaurants on bay side have valet parking.
we go here around 8 am on the weekend to read the paper and have breakfast. It is a lovely small beach without the jones beach schtick.
I have been going to this beach since I was a kid. We lived in the Bronx but had family who lived in Hempstead. We still go there once a year for big family gatherings. Anyone can go to this beach as long as they are willing to pay the non resident fee which is $25 or $30.00. Not a lot in my opinion. Pile up in the car and go!!Only negatives are the lack of food and sometimes the bathrooms could be cleaner. The water all the way to the left has a lot of seaweed so go to the right.
You do need to be a Nassau County resident and have a leisure pass but, if you do, it is a great beach with access to a pool.
Point Lookout Beach that is run by Nassau County is next to the hamlet of Point Lookout that has their own private beach. Don't get confused! There's is plety of parking and it's close to the Meadowbrook Pkwy for convenience of getting there quick and leaving.
i love point lookout, its quiet always find parking and nicer and i feel safer then jones beach. a personal fave
This is a beautiful beach, with sweeping views of the ocean, the Jones Beach Inlet, and passing fishing, casino, and motorboats. There is a nice walking path from the various streets that end beachside. Unless you are a resident, or guest of (and with) a resident, this beach is basically an exclusive beach that is still beautiful yet unattainable for others.
Been going to this beach for a couple of years and it still is a nice place to go. Never really overcrowded and well run by Nassau County
Nice place if you like the beach, I like the pool better. I hate sand. I had a built in cement in ground pool at home growing up so that is my favorite. The beach is maintained by the largest town in the USA Town of Hempstead and they do a great job. Go there if you like the beach and not the pool.
This is a residential neighborhood in which you cannot park. The only attraction isthe beach, but if you cannot park you cannot go to the beach, There are no parking fields to even pay to park...not one. Also beware of the cops there s a 15 MPH speed limit everywhere in the town
Point lookout is just so convenient, right off the Meadowbrook Parkway, plenty of parking, parking passes available, and not a very long walk to the beach!! You will always run into someone you know there!!
