Gorgeous - be sure to look at the ceiling, with its decorative painting and Tiffany light fixture. The seats are not "stadium seating" comfort, but they are fine. Movie screen is huge - great for action flicks. Check out their vintage film days, complete with organ player.

A true motion picture palace. From the marque on the street, the ticket window in the vestibule to the chandelier, a real landmark. A large single screen theater with wonderful character. Very few of these left. The Lafayette has state of the art sound and projection equipment so the films are well presented. All that and a live Wulwitzer organ performance before the Friday night show. (Check the timing)

This is the first time I have felt inspired to write a review for a location other than hotel. Awesome experience that hardens back to the old days. Went last night. No annoying mall rat crowd talking, texting or being generally rude. Theater was about 75 percent full and audience applauded after the show. The man that takes your tickets actually thanks you for coming at is sincere. When was the last time that happened to you - anywhere?!

What an old world theater should feel like. The details of the refurbishment are well done. The organ player prior to the movie provides a unique "feel good" experience. The only compliant is that the screen is smaller than modern theaters relative to the seats in back.

The Lafayette Theater is a landmark in Suffern. It's golden age decor and organ player create an atmosphere that has disappeared from todays theaters. It brings you back to a time when movies were a revered form of community entertainment. However in this world of today, where we are offered so many choices and chaos abounds, the Lafauette is a single theater offering 1 show at a time, except for wintertime when they off $Low cost Saturday matinees of old classics. It's worth the trip if you've never been.

http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/2897This is a large, and "grand" old style theater with balconies and beautiful decorated ceilings. It's sadly not full very often these days.... I remember seeing The Towering Inferno there as a teenager and having to sit up front because it was packed .... and waiting in long lines to see Star Wars and other classics. It's a truly beautiful theater. My only reasons for not giving it the 5 star rating are that it can be coldish in the winter... they had some trouble with the heating which may have been fixed (not sure until I try this winter) ... and like some other theaters the volume level can be too high during the shows .....But it's a great place with a large screen and a lot of history.

I go here every chance I get. Refurbished. Beautiful details. There are box seats, a balcony, sculpture. Worth it just to look around. Very clean. Not ridiculously priced. Just go there.

The Lafayette Theatre is a precious gem in the town that I have called home for the last 8 years and the town which I hope will be my home for many, if not all my years to come. The theatre is a wonderful venue for both movies and speakers. My first visit was just over a week ago to see the late Anne Frank's step sister, Eva Schloss, at a wonderful event hosted by Chabad of Suffern where Geraldo Rivera served as the moderator. I felt truly priveliged to see this historic figure give a first hand experience of her tragic youth in this absolutely beautiful venue. The level of detail in the carvings, the light fixtures and the overall design of the theatre was nothing short of stunning. I feel blessed to live in this community.

I love the concerts that Marcello's does there. It is nice to sit in an old theater inside of the new metro plexes. I like the special events.

I usually don't go to the movies, but I'd come here again. Nice big screen, old fashioned theatre was quite charming. Seats a tad uncomfortable. Bathrooms are dated. I didn't feel like a packed in sardine and that's why I'd return.

Love this place but it can sometimes be a little bit cold in the winter so you just have to keep your coat on.

There might olnly be one showing per night - maybe 2 on the weekends but it's a beautiful old theatre with classice organ playing on Saturday nights. Easy to get to, plenty of parking and you can grab a bite to eat in quite a few restaurants within walking distance before the movie.

This is a beautiful classic oldtime movie theater that hasn't been chopped into 3, 4, or 5 theaters. It's got all the trappings of a 1920's movie palace including a pipe organ that they play before the main shows on Fri and Sat I believe. It's been updated to digital and dolby so you can see first run movies in 3D when they're out. Parking is easy, it's cavernous so you can always get a good seat, and the staff is friendly. It's our first go to when a new movie is out.

This is one of the more beautiful original movie theaters remaining from the times when kids would spend 5 cents to see movies and spend the day at the theater. The stained glass lighting the beautiful ceilings the organ makes this a theater event and a must see .the older seats aren't like a modern theater but the rows are wide enough to be comfortable and the atmosphere is wonderful
