The park was built by Russell Salvatore a few years ago. It' in front of his Hotel and Restaurant off Transit Rd. It was cold the day we were there so we didn't spend much time there, but it would be nice in the summer.
An amazing tribute to "The Battle of the Bulge", "Twin Towers, "Flight 3304" and Veterans personally financed by Russell Salvatore. Absolutely breathtaking.
Russell Salvatore has taken a strip of land on one of the busiest highways that travels through Williamsville, NY and has turned it into a peaceful and pristine Memorial Park. Tasteful memorials to World War II Battle of the Bulge, 9/11, and the Memorial to the Continental airlines crash that occurred in Clarence in 2009. The grounds are pristine and ALWAYS well kept. There was benches to allow one to sit and reflect while being underneath the largest US Flag in the area. Simply a wonderful tribute and a place you shouldn't just drive by. You won't be sorry for stopping.
Mr. Salvatore is very generous and community minded. The memorial is dedicated to the Battle of the Bulge and a 9/11 memorial dedicated to the firemen. A statue of St. Michael overlooks the park. There are other dedications to local history as well.
Tranquility amongst strip plazas- cant go wrong. Two acres of pristine gardens and a memorial display you might expect to see in Washington DC, accompanied by some great nostalgic, patriotic music playing throughout. Easy to find look for the 30x60 flag flying 200 feet off the ground.
It was opened in July 2014. The sculptures by Don Parrino are amazing, and his words inspiring. The gardens are in pristine condition with US and Canadian flags all around. Nostalgic music is continuously played, and there is seating so you can quietly contemplate the exhibits. It is near Tim Hortons, a great place for a snack and coffee. There is also a memorial to Russell Salvatore, a well known local restauranteur.
This homage to American heroes and patriots is very popular as a place to rest and reflect. One Monday night in August, we grabbed a slice from Picasso's Pizza (across the road) and sat and watched as many couples came to check the place out. It is well lit and nostalgic music plays constantly. There are many benches around this small park which has tableux set around to reflect wartime scenes.
I'd like there to be no music, to be able to sit with your thoughts as if at a cemetery. Very detailed but a simple memorial to many different military milestones. Humbling to be there
This was a very nice park. Music plays all the time and you several sites to see in the small park. They are status and displays for WWII and 9/11. it is worth a visit to see.
We stayed at the Salvatore's Garden Palace Hotel and fell in love with the statues and sights so when we drove by this memorial we just had to stop and we are so glad that we did.Russel Salvatore has taken it upon himself to create a monument to America's fallen heroes. There is a monument to the men and women of WWII, one to honor the heroes of 911, both the people on the airliners and also the first responders. There is a memorial dedicated to the lost souls of Colgan Air Flight 3407.The sculptor, to the best of my knowledge, is Don Perrino...and looking into the eyes of his statues burns right into my heart. We too often forget that everyday people step up and become heroes in an emergency or a war. They gave their lives so that our way of life could be preserved and thank God that there are Americans like Russel Salvatore that have the will and the means to memorialize them.Thank you Russel, you made an otherwise boring trip spectacular.
