fatima shrine

The Our Lady of Fatima Shrine has seen better days. We have been here at least 5 times in the last 10 years, and it looks like a little TLC is required.

Family day for spiritual retreat as well as can be picnic day too. The place is solemn with very tall statue of Lady of Fatima erected on the top of the church with large rosary beads in front of the church garden. Lots of saints statues like in Vatican . it has lots of religious articles in the store. Foods in the restaurants are good and affordable.

Beautiful shrine dedicated to Fatima. Very informative with many areas to meditate. Wasn't very thrilled with the priest who must have thought we were all there for him. This is truly a wonderful shrine which needs money to maintain it's grandiose size but don't push visitors away with your archaic beliefs.

Took a small group of adults to this FREE attraction two weeks before Christmas. This time of year they have extra decorative attractions coinsiding with the Christian season. It was a crisp, clear night which we all felt the only thing missing was a light amount of snow that would have completed the beauty around the outdoor lights and multitude of statue of saints around the outside property. There is an elevated look out which was a beautiful sight. We could see the mist from Niagara Falls in the very far distance. It is approx 40-50 steps up to the view. Indoors, there is a large church and around the outer circumference of the church are many small areas with designated themes in which you can pray and light a candle for a small donation. In a building neaby, there is a gift shop and cafeteria. We very much enjoyed the homemade Chicken noodle soup that was quite reasonably priced. Before we venture back again, I will readup on the saints and their symbolism and contribution---as that is one of the things that was personally lacking for me. I had forgotten how many saints there are and who and what they represented. This attraction is open year round. A short drive from Niagara Falls NY.
