Friendly starter, was able to bring my 6 year old out with me for 9 holes in the morning. Great views from some spots.

Our group of 24 golfers played yesterday morning. The setting is beautiful, and the majesty of the place is simply stunning. The maintenance of the venue leaves something to be desired. The greens in particular were very slow. We realize this had been a very difficult year for greens around the northeast due to the very cold winter temperatures, but it diminished the golfing experience to putt on what looked like the mats at the driving range.

This is one of the oldest golf courses in the country and looks it. Let's start with the course. Fairways were very bumpy and in moderate to poor condition. Greens were very slow and some were virtually unplayable with no green. Cart girl was rarely seen and at one point seemed to be hiding in the woods. We only saw her at the 8th tee.I was in charge of a tournament and the experience was awful. The only person who acted like he cared was Pete the professional. He was very nice and seemed concerned that our experience was so poor. They gave us no service for the tournament. They did not indicate in advance where the closest to the pin and longest drives were so no one knew. They did not prepare score cards in advance that were placed on the cart and they did not have a starter to tell people when they should tee off. We all had to do that ourselves. They did not keep the scores for us or have a master score sheet for people to mark their scores when they returned. They also sent out two foursomes in advance of our tournament which really slowed us down even though we were playing a scrambled format. We had paid for box sandwiches and they forgot to put the sandwich in the box and they did not have a choice of sandwich(it was turkey). The worst part of the experience though a very rude older gentleman who tried to pick a fight with me. He took umbrage with my comment to him that in the 17 previous tournaments I had done I never had to ask for the services that they did not provide (like scoring the tournament and all the shortcomings mentioned above). He had stored my clubs from two days earlier and did not even bring them to the cart for the tournament claiming he was too busy. No one helped getting clubs to and from the cart to the drop off area or even offered to clean clubs. There was no service here at all. Maybe they were shorthanded or maybe the older gentleman was having a bad day but this is the last time I would ever have a tournament at this course. If it were a great golf course maybe you would put up with it but it is far from that. With the exception of the pro, they should really think about getting new staff-staff that will be helpful and not look to make their guests regret playing there.

Haven't been there this year, but had to put a date for review to be published. We have played here many times. I agree about cost but golf is ridiculously overpriced. I'm a beginner golfer but my boys play and we have played here either while staying in the area or renting at the Whiteface Inn & Resort (which has gotten very expensive). All courses should be so beautiful and serene (or "placid"). The 6th hole is beautiful. We have seen fox, deer while playing and have lost many balls bc many holes are flanked with huge pines!

I played this course in June this year and I was really disappointed by the condition of the course. Some of the greens had bald patches and 1 of them had no grass at all. I read a lot of good reviews about this course and was excited to play it but my experience was totally opposite. It is way overpriced for $70. More like a $30-35 course.

The golfing experience here is great and so is the light lunch afterward. The whole facility is comfortable and the prices were reasonable. Sometimes you pay too much for the setting and not the golf. There was real value here.

Played this golf course solo on a Wednesday morning in 2.5 hours. The course is in terrific shape and enjoyable to play. Will definitely play again next time I am in the area

This golf course was overpriced for what it was. Fairways are very narrow and greens are super slow. The course conditions were above average but not amazing. Save your money and choose another Lake Placid golf course.

I always enjoy a round of golf from time to time and have played at many courses over the past few years. They all have their high points as well as the things that make them less desirable. The Whiteface Golf Club is all high points. As if they are constantly prepared for a photo shoot, everything is in perfect form and well maintained. I give my highest commendation to the caretakers and employees here for upholding standards that have been sacrificed elsewhere.

Good course to walk. Some blind fairways as with many mountain courses. Clubhouse is not the most friendly however. Maybe is for the members. Very fair course otherwise!

The course is in fantastic shape. The fairways are in great condition. The greens are like carpets. The scenenic views are breath taking. I play this cousre every year in May to start my season of golfing. So to all you golfers ENJOY!!!

Challenging and scenic and in great condition. A real pleasure to play. Bring along some extra balls however for the tree lined fairways.

I was in Lake Placid for a wedding and noticed that Whiteface Golf Club had been recently named #12 golf course in New York state by Golfweek magazine. It was in very good condition when I played it and enjoyed playing it for the first time. Lots of dog leg left holes. Championship Blue tees were generally about 10 yards back of the Whites on most holes so give the back tees a go if you're a handy player. The course is generally well marked out for yardages with a handful of holes having some blind shots if you're playing it for the first time.Only negative is that there's no real driving range, just a 100 yard green mainly for short game. It's the best conditioned course in Lake Placid (when I was there) but it's also the priciest at $80 for the round and $20 for a cart in the weekends.

I stopped in for a quick lesson while vacationing and in less than 45 minutes Peter had me swinging like a pro and enabled me to see and understand where I am going wrong. In 45 minutes I progressed more than in 3 years.Worth taking a lesson at this course.

Great course once again the improvements from about five years ago are great, will be back next year.
