We have gone to Boothbay a number of times to visit friends but this is the first time we have gone to the Carousel Music Theatre. We knew ahead of time that the food was simple, which we totally expected. So it went beyond our expectations. The soup was delicious and my lobster salad was perfect. The young starlets were our wait staff and worked so hard to please us. And then the music began. I personally loved the selection of music. For the most part, the performers did a great job and the music came alive. They put together the play on their own it was a lovely way to introduce the 40's music around the theme of a family whose son was in WWII. The music was familiar and lively and ended with patriotic tunes that put a lump in my throat. I plan to return the next summer that we are there.

I went with a group of friends to Boothbay Harbor to Carousel Music Theater not much to look at ,they offer soup and sandwiches, full bar ,soda and coffee and tea and dessert. My meal was very good better than some restauraunts packed with roast beef on rye bread. In between serving you these young singers would belt out a song and wow what voices. the second half was based on honoring the military in WWII. The songs were 1940's and what a wonderful job they did costumes were a little lacking but just think of what they could do extra fund. You tip them on the way out and that is their earnings that they split amongst them. A+++++

I concur with the other reviewers that the young people in the show worked so very hard and shouldn't be criticized for the very amateurish production. The costumes were so unflattering, the stage set was poorly designed and the food way below subpar. I think many audience members could have easily endured a two hour performance rather than almost three hours! The soup had tobe of canned variety. The sandwiches not tasty at all. The night we were there, the accompanist on the piano had a snit with one of the male performers that was very awkward for those in the audience. I would suggest that the dinner theatre find some good stage managers, set designers, costume people from area colleges and make the performances worthy of the excellent talent of those on stage.

Weve had a cottage in the harbor for 19 years and sunday night was the first time we went to a show there. Boy weve been missing a great time. The food sounds kind of on the dull side but what a surprise, the meal was really great. I had a great chowder and a ham and cheese sand with chips and a pickle. The sand was packed with plenty of meat lettuce and tomatoes, the bread was thick texas style one of the best sand ive ever had. Then coffee and dessert. the dessert was the only thing they could improve on.Service was great and the show was fantastic. Plenty of talent. for $36 a person you cant go wrong. Try it I know youll enjoy every minute

A delightful evening at this "dinner theater". The food, included in the ticket price, is a choice of sandwiches, soups and dessert. The show was fun and entertaining, all the performers are talented actors who have appeared in other productions. While dinner is being served by the actors, they entertain you with a cabaret song fest . We found this venue to be a welcomed break to the busy downtown activity. Try it, you'll enjoy it.

These young, energetic Broadway wannabees give this show everything they've got and more. It was a fun evening, but three hours was a bit too long for me to sit in an uncomfortable director's chair with no lower back support. The food was OK although more seafood in the chowder would have been welcome.

My husband and I spent a wonderful evening at the Carousel Music Theater last week. The cast is extremely talented and hard working. It is amazing how much they give to all of their performances while also very efficiently waiting on tables. Every cast member is so talented, it really was a pleasure watching all of them!! They definitely all have bright futures ahead of them. It is so refreshing to see performers that clearly love what they do! The food was good too, and it was a very relaxing way to spend the evening. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!!

My wife and I were on a late summer camping getaway and were looking for an evening out. We looked up The Carousel Music Theater and decided to give it a try. What a delight! The five young entertainers took turns singing while serving - and they all sang very well! We had a drink of wine and for food we had a delicious seafood chowder, very nice sandwiches followed by perfect blueberry pie along with coffee. We were very pleased and then found out that these same five young folks were then going to put on a play! Seriously, we thought they were all done and deserved a break! The show was a patriotic one for a veteran's evening and the owner of the theater was donating a percentage of the evening's take to the local VFW or American Legion - some $600.00! Bravo, and two thumbs up to the whole crew!!

Small theater; no bad seats. Adequate food; great entertainment. Very talented group of young entertainers performed an original production which embedded modern music into a fairy tale theme. Fun for all ages.

You go, get seated (by the people that are performing!) with a nice drink in hand, then a soup, sandwich, coffee, and dessert are served to you as you listen to showtunes. Afterward, you get to watch a musical performance!Overall, a fun time and worth it if you like broadway showtunes

We spent a wonderful week in Boothbay Harbor, ME and spent an evening at the Carousel Music Theater. We made reservations and enjoyed a delightful evening of food, drinks and music. Five extraordinary talented young people waited on the audience, taking drink and dinner orders and then spent a great deal of time singing Broadway cabarets (quite well, I'd say). After our meals were done and cleared away, we were treated to an awesome show titled Once Upon a Time, it was a wonderful story line and we listened to several songs quite fitting to the storyline from the 70s and 80s. We arrived at 6:30 and were home by 9:30. The food was very good considering it's only sandwiches, soups and dessert. There's a limited variety but something for everyone. We found the food to be very good. It's not a fancy spot just clean and charming. The price was right at $36 each which included the entertainment. Beer, wine, and limited mixed cocktails are also available for an additional cost. My husband and I thought it was a great night. Better than we anticipated. The only complaint I had was that it's not air conditioned, yet there are large ceiling fans throughout however the fan just above us was not working and it did get a bit warm. I'd highly recommend the Carousel Music Theater for a night of relaxation and enjoyable live performances all for a reasonable price!

Our experience at the Carousel Music Theater was fantastic! The cast is jam packed full of incredible talent and tons of energy. Such a fun evening. I can't wait to go back.

We have been heading to the Carousel from Windham with friends who love the easy going, fun-filled atmosphere as much as we do. This is our fourth summer and the talent was excellent, so well suited to the caberet numbers and also the original and very creative play that featured a wonderful assortment of pop tunes. The dinner selections as well were just right for this easy going evening.

Our hats are off to the performers (who double as waiters) who give the performance their all in an erstwhile theater performance. Our family of 5 (including 3 teenagers) shared some laughs and were impressed by the performers dedication despite the fact that there's a pretty large portion of kitschy theatrical numbers served up. The only untruth in advertising is the characterization by the Theater that it offered "fine dining". The food is fine but is not "fine dining": sandwich fare offered in plastic picnic-like containers does not constitute fine dining. One suggestion: it's understandable that the owner / artistic director desires his few minutes in the sun. But his ridiculously schmaltzy song performance is not only painful to endure, but its cheap self-indulgence cheapens the serious effort of the performers themselves. If you approach the evening with undemanding expectations, it's a couple hours of carefree entertainment.
