Jamie is entertaining and informative. He knows local lore and shares his love of the ocean. I always book tours with him when we have visitors "from away".
This is our 2nd charter with Captain Robertson and it was even better than the first! Our first trip was a 2-hour lobstering cruise in 2012. Our kids enjoyed it so much they wanted to do it again on our trip this week. We bumped up to 4 hours and Jamie made sure the boys learned more about lobstering, the environment and all the other sea creatures that tend to come up in the traps with the lobsters. Really great memories were made on both our cruises - thanks Captain!
The day of our whale watching trip the weather was very bad all around us, storms in all directions, out to sea and all other directions, west ,north and south. Our captain as well as Jamie both decided to go out. BE AWARE the policy is they go out rain or shine ,you also are charged on a credit card reservation in ADVANCE! There is no guaranty you will see a whale, no refund after they leave the dock! We had a 2 hour boat ride in very bad windy raining weather and only then they decided to turn around and go back to dock. I am not from that area but have lived on and been a boater of big water all my life with over 50 years of experience. I think that either poor nautical judgement was made OR a moral decision was made for profit! If it was the former be aware of the danger in a 35 foot boat 10 to 15 miles out in the ocean. If a decision was made for profit, once the boat leaves the dock, you are charged with no refund, that is for you to decide! I believe it is for the latter, the boat trip should have been canceled, but not leaving the dock would mean a refund and since a lot of tourist have other things planned they would loose the business, that also is yours to decide. Since then I have found that all whale watching trips in that area are booked and charged in that manner. Having been to Alaska on trips with guarantees of seeing whales or a free trip latter I ask why this policy in thet area? Are the tourists a one time to the area and never returing? To sum it up try to ONLY book your trip in that area on the day of the trip WATCHING THE WEATHER and being the judge. We were only given a $20 discount on a $95 trip BAD,BAD,shame on this company. Also note this is another internet company with a boat and a home phone number, you have no recourse but to accept their decisions.
Our family (6 people: ages 7-69) thoroughly enjoyed a great morning with Robertson Sea Tours! Captain Jamie Robertson led us on a fascinating tour of some coastal islands as we made our way out to observe and photograph seals basking on rocks, puffins swimming, diving, fishing and zipping by the boat to check us out. We learned a great deal about lobsters and lobster harvesting, and we were even able to check out a few lobster traps on our way back in to the dock! Each of us picked Robertson Sea Tours as a highlight of our Maine vacation!
Capt. Jim was our tour leader and ship captain on recent Puffin cruise. It was a beautiful day; the water was smooth; the scenery was spectacular; and we saw and learned a lot about the area and wildlife. It could not have been more enjoyable.
It was my first whale watch and it was nothing short of amazing! We saw whales, puffins, and dolphins. Our guild was knowledgeable and we had an awesome time. We stopped at Flinn Island and had lobsters and blueberry pie! I recommend this tour to anyone from Maine or away. It is an amazing experience for kids and adults of all ages!
We boarded the kandie lee at Millbridge town landing for a sunset lobster bake. We were welcomed at the dock by captain Jamie, and his family, his wife brought home cooked foods for the journey.During the trip we were provided a hands on education to lobstering and got to pick are lobsters. We cruised out to an uninhabited island which all 6 of us had the opportunity to explore while the lobster bake was being prepared and by the way 6 is the maximum passenger to board no cramping here roomy and comfortable. We all were treated to fresh local corn on the cobe delicious macaroni salad to accompany the scrumptious lobster and the best blueberry pie ever and the captian always making sure we all had enough to eat .Beautiful sunset on the way back.Truly a memorable experience.
We had an amazing time with you and your lovely family. Kandi is a doll and the boys, well wow awesome lil dudes! Thank you so much for not only teaching Robbie how to lobster fish and making him a true downeastah but to show him that hard work can be fun too! Getting him to step out of his comfort zone, keeping him interested and a part of the whole process, taking your time, knowledge and patience to bring an ultimate smile to my little mans face. You started something huge, he cannot stop talking about his experience.. explaining it to his buddies cracks me up! Lol wearing his t-shirt all the time... which we'll probably need a new one haha and every so often looking at that pamphlet. Possible fishing future perhaps?? :) I feel another trip with y'all will be in the very near future... Cant wait! Thanks again JamieShawna and Robbie Cain
We wanted a more intimate whale watching experience than the big boats out of bar harbor and Robertson Sea Tours fit our needs perfectly. The marina is easy to get too and our guide, Jim, was a terrific host. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. He gave a good short orientation about what we could expect to see and was always willing to answer questions and give as much detail as we wanted. We spotted finback and humpback whales, several types of seals, and many different birds. Being in a smaller boat made the whale experience truly incredible. There was another couple on the boat and the 6 of us had plenty of room to move around and see the views. We get up to this area every couple of years and will be back to try one of the other tours. Our kids, 9 & 12, really enjoyed the trip. Be sure to wear layers of clothes, bring snacks, drinks, sun screen, sunglasses and cameras.
We took the puffin boat cruise. It was great, and Jamie Robertson was not only pleasant and kind, he is very competent and enthusiastic guide. We have of to wait because it was foggy and no pressure on behalf of Jamie. We would recommend this trip.
Our trip with Robertson Sea Tours was nothing short of amazing. A wonderful boat ride along the rocky shores of Downeast Maine, finished with a true Maine island lobster bake. The food was phenomenal and the company was even better. I would recommend this trip for anyone looking for a true Maine experience.
We spent two weeks in the Milbridge area, fantastic! We contacted Robertson Sea Tours to schedule an outing late in our second week. We coordinated with Kandi and she was very timely in contacting us to schedule the trip to see marine animals and puffins. The day before the trip we received a call from Captain Robertson and he told us the fog was so thick that he didn't think we would be able to make the trip. He was happy to call us the following morning at a time that we chose so that we could go out early in the morning. Given the forecast for more fog, we chose to cancel. He and Kandi were very apologetic and kind. We very much appreciated their honesty and advanced notice so that we could plan other activities as necessary. In checking around the Milbridge area, everyone we spoke to about Robertson Sea Tours had nothing but great things to say about them as people. My recommendation is that you call them prior to your arrival in the area so you have the whole length of your stay to adjust to weather conditions, as they will work with you as much as possible. We will simply have to be more timely in our reservation next year, and book our trip the first week!James and Michelle NicholsHarpers Ferry, WV
On short notice we were able to book a tour for 6 of us including my 3 and 5 year old granddaughters. It was a wonderful trip that held their interest. We saw seals, a bald eagle and a lobster trap full of lobsters and hermit crabs. Captain Robertson was a perfect host.
We went on the puffin boat cruise, and learned so much. It was great and Jamie Robertson is a very competent and enthusiastic guide. He is careful and accommodates travelers of all ages. I will go again!
Captain Jamie and his first mate son were extraordinary hosts and guides on our whale watch! It was such a pleasant and beautiful ride for the 5 of us aboard the Kandi Leigh! Whales, seals, porpoises and birds were plentiful, awe inspiring and phenomenal! Such a gift to share in God's beautiful creation!
