Great visit with little kids. Not a huge aquarium, but a local run aquarium with a nice family touch. Tina of fish, turtles, etc. Lots of touch tanks, and feedings every 1 / 2 hr. Nice little family outing. The staff was knowledgeable, and available.
Went to a birthday party here, and loved it so much that my son had his 6th birthday there last month. This is a wonderful, fun, educational experience for kids and adults!! The staff is very patient and knowledgable. I highly recommend a visit to Biomes!
VERY interactive and interesting! Hands on experience with touch tanks. Feedings to different marine life occurs every 30min. They also have play center areas. Kids of all ages can really enjoy it. $9 for the experience, I said is under price. We spent about 2.5 hours and we left cause we were hungry. There's no eating areas insides but there's plenty of places in the surrounding areas to chose from. Definitively visiting again!
Educational. The owner is a very interesting individual obviously devoted to building up this living collection of sea creatures
On a recent visit to North Kingstown to visit family we decided to check out Biomes. Don't let the strip mall facade fool you (it used to be a furniture store if I remember correctly), this is a fun little place with nice tanks and plenty of touch tanks to get a look at marine life up close. They have rays, small sharks, starfish in the touch tanks which was fun for all of us. The rest of the tanks are educational and have many species of local sea life to keep people of all ages interested. Don't go in expecting the New England Aquarium, it's not that kind of place. We filled 2 hours easily and will return again.
This is a great little aquarium. They have multiple touch tanks, different animal feedings every 1/2 hour and you can't beat the price $9 p/p 3 or over. They have tons of activity tables and play areas. Really a great place. We will definitely be having our little ones birthday party here!!!! Can't wait to go back!!!!!!
This is the most humble aquariums I have ever been to. It looks like the store front for a fish store perhaps. Inside though is the best touching tanks I have ever come across. The fish are super accessible for all to see and the big turtle is fun to observe. There is a little play area our toddler loved as well. Overall a great find!
My son had visited the Biomes on a preschool class trip this past June and has been begging us to take him back ever since. We decided this past rainy Friday was a good day and he was thrilled. There are many hands on exhibits which are easily accessible for even smaller children. There is also am adorable play area for smaller kids which has lots of fun, interactive activities that they can do alone and with you. For older kids, there are picnic tables with activities more like "science experiments" and Legos, etc. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful too. Our son's most favorite attraction... the Finding Nemo tank! It is a fantastic replica of the tank from the Finding Nemo movie along with all the characters listed in a book for kids to find in the tank. Adorable!
The new Biomes is wonderful. So much larger and more open than the old place. My grandkids loved touching the sharks, feeling the creatures in the touch tanks and also being able to hold and feed the horseshoe crabs. The kids at my five year old grandsons birthday party there had a great time.
My 3 year old had a wonderful time here. We spent over 3 hours and would have stayed longer if our schedule would have allowed. She enjoyed touching all the sea life that was available to touch, as well as the hands-on learning activities. There were a number of staff and volunteers working while we were there, cleaning and assisting visitors. The facility is very clean, including regularly changing the towels located near each touch tank to dry your hands off. It kept her interest so well we will be back.
I didn't have high hopes when I walked in, but this place was great from my two kids under four years old. It is highly local and has lots of tanks, and touch tanks. We easily spent an hour here and walked away with more information to inform our beach visits. The hours are a little odd (12-4 or something like that) but it's worth a look if you live in the area and have interested kids.
Lots of hands on attractions which kids love! Fun to pet the sharks! Kids LOVE it! Excellent for a rainy day.
What a cool place. I was not so sure when I pulled up and when I walked in, but we had such a great time! The tortoise was a big hit. He kept walking behind us when we would go to walk away so the kids kept going back. He was loving the attention. It was great to see sea life & know it was local. So many touch tanks! Never been anywhere else where you can touch several types of sharks and even watch shark pups play. The kids were able to feed a horse shoe crab as well. Staff was on hand for questions & all so friendly.Small gift shop with relatable items, not a bunch of garbage. It was a bit of a trip, but I am sure we will visit again.
Took my two young children to Biomes after someone had suggested after visiting the former location. I was very dissapointed with what they had on site after reading the reviews(iI guess I expected more..). This is a great local place if you are interested in marine life from Rhode Isand shores. They do have a few touch tanks for exploring sea life which was nice. My 3 year old was not impressed, he had more fun in the play area, then exploring the sea life. It is also expensive ($9.00 pp--under 3 free) considering it only took us about an hour in there. It is worth a trip at least once to check it out, maybe your experience will be better than ours.
My husband & I took our 10 & 12-year-old grandchildren to Biomes. It is a very nice facility! Lots of tanks with many marine animals - with many hands-on touch tanks, including sharks! We had a Groupon coupon, so for very little $$ we had a nice afternoon activity!
