cumberland point recreational area

OK... you will never happen upon this campground.You have to be searching for it!They are located at the end of the road just before entering Lake Cumberland.They have both RV and Tent sites... we stayed in a tent this time for several nights in August!It is possibly the best little campground we have ever experienced.You will feel the same if you like remote areas, secluded site locations , beautiful and wonderful views of the lake, forest and sunsets.The campground was quiet and clean.You better remember to bring everything you need...there is no camp store, and it is about a 20 minute drive to the closest business, in Nancy KY (population about 5000, scattered).No national fast food restaurants, no traffic lights... RURAL!!!

We stayed here over Fathers Day weekend. Our first trip to the are and we were pleasantly surprised. The campground had only 30 sites, a boat ramp, playground, dump station and plenty of area to hike around Lake Cumberland. The best part was the views from the campsites, overlooking the lake. The area was peaceful and quiet, allowing for a relaxing sunset. The sites were large and nestled on the edge of the water. The sites were graveled and well protected with railings. All of the sites were on a hill, downward slope towards the lake. However, the COE did an excellent job making the sites level. It is amazing. The only issue is that you may have to back up a small incline to get into the sites. But again, the sites themselves were level. Don Cummings and his wife, the camp hosts, made our stay even more enjoyable. Kind, always smiling and always there to help in anyway they could. This is definitely off the beaten path but it is a hidden gem. We plan to return and stay a lot longer.
