Visit Gallrein's , a local go to spot for fresh corn each summer. Fall brings a corn maze and pumpkin picking. Great family owned and operated business. Spring brings plants, animals to feed and a conference center for family reunions or corporate events.

There is fun activities for my elementary kids. They fed the fish, picked pumpkins and played in the hay. The fresh veggies were great as well and the cook went out of her way to give me a great recipe to cook up a pie.

As every Louisville native will attest, it isn't fall until you have crossed the Ohio River and picked a pumpkin at Huber's orchard. That was all good until the lines there got so crowded and the cost of meals there got so incredibly pricey. So we stumbled into Gallrein Farms on a preschool field trip a few years ago. Last year we chose it instead of Hubers. On fall weekends there is a free hay ride to the pumpkin patch with tons of pumpkins, a free petting zoo with camel, goats, bunnies, pigs, horse, and donkey), and live music. For a small fee you can get tickets to do pony rides, the potato launcher, and a corn maze. There was also a pretty pond, a hay pyramid for great photos and food for sale. The market there has all types of gourds, pumpkins, cheeses, beverages and canned jams and jellies for sale. They also have a deli there inside the market and plenty of seating at undercover picnic tables. This year when we chose Gallrein again, and there was an even bigger crowd and more to do than the year before. It has definitely become the choice for those of us in East Louisville who don't want to drive 45 min. in stop and go traffic to Hubers. Even with a crowd, there was not a long wait to get on the hayrides to the pumpkin patch and pumpkins were plentiful. We were able to take it all in in about 2 to 2.5 hours.

Quite a large and diverse offering of flowers and/or vegetables to plant. First time there in May, all plants were in extremely good shape....last time there, there were many plants in need of attention.....

My family and I went for the first time in October 2011. My 3-year-old had a wonderful time. He loved the petting zoo and the play area with all of the hay. It's a year later and he is still talking about it and can't wait to go back. I enjoyed this place as an adult and loved the hayride out to the pumpkin patch. We will definitely be back.

About a 25 drive from our house. It is a great experience and wonderful place for kids. They have a small petting zoo (free), Hay rides (free), Corn maze (free), hay pyramid (free). There is tractor train ride for kids, pony rides and blow up which cost a couple dollars each. Well worth it. We pick pumpkins and they only cost $0.37 per pound. There is no restaurant, but they had a twenty by sixty tent set up with picnic tables. They grilled burgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, chicken. There are chips and drinks available. Cost me $36 dollars for lunch with six adults and one kid. The have market with seasonal fruits and veggies. For those of you in the Louisville area we all know about the Hubers. This a great alternative.
