Drove across a snowy mountain pass to get some Bad Rock whiskey. The holiday cocktails were diverse. The conversation was merry. A must stop. The sampler was also a diverse set of tastes. This distillery represents Montana well.
Stopped in 3 times during our stay just outside of the park. Got a bottle each time, and not a drop left the state of Montana. It was that good. If your expecting the "tour" experience like when you visit Napa or Sonoma, you'll be disappointed. Hang out for a sample of the product, buy what you'll drink, and come back to restock over and over again. Remember, your not in New York, so don't expect some well dressed sommelier to greet you.
We specifically looked up distilleries while out from PA and were excited to find this. Then, it just went WAY and BEYOND our expectations!!! We were only in Glacier three nights (arriving late the first) and spent the next two late afternoons here!! The quality of the spirits themselves were phenomenal as were the craft cocktails and the classics (Old Fashioned with the Rye!!!). We were fortunate enough to encounter "Iowa" Jake as our host when we first arrived and he spent so much time talking to us about the company, making us feel welcome and making outstanding drinks!! We mentioned that we may be coming the next day and he said it was his day off. But. lo and behold when we go there, he was there visiting and socializing. He actually brought a chair over and spent the better part of an hour with my wife and I talking about backgrounds, life stories etc..(oh yeah and some more information about the company!!). He took me back to see the process of the distilling and explained how they do things. You could tell he was so excited to be a part of it. We purchased a lot of stuff in addition to our drinks. It was very fun to be in Brooklyn NY and have a young lady at the Goorin Bros hat shop recognize my t-shirt as she had spent some time in Whitefish over a few summers. Your place has an outstanding reputation and well deserved!!! We can't wait to come back!!!! KEEP IT UP!!!!
Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you made the drive out to see us. My apologies that you were not pleased with the quality and friendliness of the service. Due to the small size of both the distillery and staff, we are not able to offer regular tours. We are making efforts to improve the visitor experience as our goal is to make all our guests feel welcome. Hope to see you again on your next visit. Enjoy the whiskey!
We spotted this attraction on our way to Glacier National Park...we had been looking for a liquor store and had been shut out as we got in to Kalispell late and this being July 4th no liquor stores were open!! We wanted some whiskey!! Well this is the place to be!! The make several different spirits here including some great whiskey! WE bought a whole bunch to take home to Canada! It is nice to find unique artisan spirits and we took full advantage! The guys are super friendly and the still and production area were spotless. There is a great viewing gallery and a rustic bar at the back as well as a tasting bar at the front! We were disappointed they cannot export but now we have a great excuse to return! If you like artisan spirits they have several to choose from! Stop in...you will be glad you did!!
After a 2 hour trip down the rapids of the middle fork of the Flathead River in the pouring rain, my husband decided he wanted to stop at the the Glacier Distillery Company. It was a cute little place, friendly staff and lots of whisky to choose from. I am not a whisky fan, but hung out with my husband who is, while he did a tasting. It was $4 for four "tastes" of anything from the menu. These "tastes" are served in shot glasses, about a 1/4th of the way full. The bartender answered any questions we had and even provided bubble wrap for the bottle that my husband purchased so we could get it home in our luggage. Since we bought a bottle of whiskey and a glass, we were not charged for the sampler. Nice little place to hang out in the rain if you like whiskey, was hoping to see more of the distillation process, but there are informative signs and information that you can read on your own.
Friendly, Welcoming, Educational Staff... Great Tasting Program... Unique, local spirits, local ingredients... worth a stop, worth a bottle or two or 6 !
If you appreciate booze for more than it's intoxicating properties, this place is definitely worth a stop. Nice selection, friendly staff and lots of cool gifts. Bought a bottle to bring back home and they wrapped it in bubble wrap for me and everything.
Had to stop after passing by several times on the way to GNP. Turned out to be a fun visit. Sat at the front bar (not the bigger bar in back with still) and was served by a very friendly female. Did the four tasting flight looking for surprises. Some great, some not to my liking, but I am not normally a whiskey drinker. Ended up having a cocktail in addition to the tasters; Mule Kick Ceasar, YUM! Purchased a couple of bottles of the Bad Rock to take home. That was the surprise of the tasters. Glad I stopped.
Stopped to check out the flight and wound up returning the next day for a speciality drink. Not only are their drinks creative and tasty, Mike the bartender took some huckleberries i had just picked and created a fantastic, one of a kind drink just for me. Enhance your trip, stop at the Whiskey Barn!
We stopped in because my husband saw the whiskey tasting sign. I'm not a big fan so went in just to look. But the bartender suggested some other liqueurs they make and I was really impressed. We bought a bottle of the Little Cottonwood which I highly recommend and stayed for a cocktail. Fun side trip and I learned a lot. Very friendly staff that obviously love what they are selling!
We stopped here, hoping to receive a tour of the distillery and do a whiskey tasting. Part of what got us to stop was the sign that said "tours." Despite the sign, there were no tours offered. We asked the bartender about this and she said we could walk around and read the signs. We did do a tasting, for $4 per person, which was allowed us to try 4 different types of whiskey, selected by us off of the available list of options.
Stopped here on a recent road trip. Their advertising cards and their funky chicken got me to stop. Cute and clean operation. Very interesting place to look around in. People were moderately friendly and they have lots interesting alcoholic beverages that they produce there on site.
Stopped by with friends after a long day at the Park. We were greeted warmly, enjoyed the spirits and ended up visiting with the awesome employees who were very helpful with local knowledge. Great afternoon. A must.
We stopped here after a day hiking in Glacier National Park and had a great experience. Molly the bartender skillfully informed us about the spirits we tasted during our 3 flights, and kept us entertained with her stories and conversation. She also makes a mean Basil Lemonade and Bloody Caeser. You have to try them! Kendra is another employee who specializes in creating craft cocktails with the Glacier Distilling spirits. Lots of friendly people here who will also give you some great recommendations for local restaurants. A stop that was well worth it.
