My husband and I got married in August, and wanted to have more of an adventure filled honeymoon rather than a relaxing beach one. We found Bozeman and signed up for the Horseback Ride, Super Zip Line and White Water Rafting package. All three were amazing! The Horseback Ride was fun and scenic and the guide was wonderful. The Zip Lining was awesome! I strongly recommend upgrading to the Super instead of doing the Classic. The guides knew what they were doing and knew how to have a good time. The Rafting was amazing also. It was the perfect balance of rapids and adrenaline, and then calm waters and beautiful scenery to relax to. We never had to worry about falling out, because our guide knew exactly what he was doing and told us when to move certain ways so that no one fell in. This company is wonderful! Great customer service and incredible adventures!
Tip top day above the canopy with Doug and girl Jamie. Expert advice and stellar character...not to mention the quality of jokes! Tons of fun!
We've been whitewater rafting and ziplining before, but this trip was more fun than any of the others because of the guides. Emma made the rafting fun even in the rain and our three boys loved the fun things she incorporated into the ride. We were happy that she came prepared and provided fleece and rain jackets after the boys got chilled from swimming in the river. When we headed to the ziplines, still in the rain, we were a little apprehensive, but Luke and Doug ensured our safety and made each part of the zipline tour fun. We had a great afternoon and barely noticed the rain. This is a great day trip if you're staying in the Yellowstone area and want to experience a little adventure.
We enjoyed our recent zip lining adventure. Don't be alarmed by the van ride up to the ranch where the zip lines are located! We appreciated that the course was remote and offered a chance to enjoy the solitude of your surroundings. Safety was a top priority and we felt like we were in good hands. Our guides were friendly, but one kept sharing crude jokes which was not very professional. In the future he may want to consider his audience better.
The zip lining was a great trip! It was so much fun, our guides Tyler and Ryan were excellent, professional, and very funny! The only reason it's only 4 stars is because the zip line itself was a little shorter than we would like it to be, but otherwise we had a very fun time!
On our recent trip to Yellowstone we experienced our first zip line adventure with Montana Whitewater and Zipline and it was the highlight of our trip! The guides were fun, safe and patient with everyone. They followed safety protocols with every zip. Luke and his partner were respectful of the first time zipsters as well as those who were ready to go. We chose the 4 zip line course with the sky bridge which was a good start. Will absolutely do it again the next time I am in Montana....a thrilling experience.
Our guides Patrick and Jamie (the girl:-) were very professional and encouraging for a family that had never zipped before. We had many laughs, enjoyed the beautiful drive to and from, and of course, really loved the zip lining! Would highly recommend this business, and thank them for a great experience!
We zipped with Montana Whitewater at their Gallatin gateway location. Zoe and Patrick were the perfect guides!! We had three small children in our group and they were so accommodating and encouraging. They cheered us on when we were hesitant and reassured us of our safety when we were scared. Zoe was especially wonderful with the kiddos!!We did the Classic Zip Tour, which included two bridges, a ladder and three zip lines - a great first zip!
On the Yellowstone Ranch 'Zip and Dip' you'll experience a fun, safe, professional adventure to remember. Uncertain of our schedule, we ended up booking our activities just the day before arrival. After doing some researching we chose Montana WW Rafting. They received rave reviews and offered a fun opportunity to experience both whitewater rafting and ziplining in the same day. (You can do it in 2 days if you prefer.) I was concerned about doing the rafting portion first and being wet or uncomfortable for the rest. But that's the way our schedule worked out, so we went with it. Our river trip began at the office in Gardiner at 10 am where we were geared up with life-preservers, helmets, and 'booties'. (Wear your own river shoes/sandals if preferred.) I brought a waterproof camera that I strapped around my neck & tucked into the life vest, for family & scenery shots. We also wore sunglasses and baseball caps. (Don't forget to apply sunscreen before going.) They had a 'dry' bag to store personal items if needed. After a very short bus ride we were paired up with guides, then carried the raft to the water’s edge as a team. The boat is heavy and awkward, and it is clumsy making your way blindly downhill and over rocks. But we stopped a few times to switch sides or catch our breath. Sarah, our rafting guide, was crazy fun! She was sweet, caring, confident, had a good sense of humor, and a wayward art student/new wave hippie vibe. She made us feel comfortable and safe right away. At the river we were given safety and paddling instructions. My son & I had rafted before, but this was a first for the rest of the family. Sarah was reassuring, and gave very clear instruction throughout our trip. Our 1/2 day float was down the Yellowstone River. We got off to a mellow start, allowing time to get comfortable and coordinated with team paddling. There were a number of fun spots along the trip, with intermediate rapids for a thrill, and long mellow stretches to enjoy the guide’s corny jokes, visit, and take in the scenery. To spice things up a bit our guide allowed us to 'ride the bull'--sitting on the nose of the raft, holding onto the rope, as we 'bucked' our way through the rapids. One fun maneuver we performed in smaller rapids was called 'pin wheel', where we intentionally made the raft spin. We also played 'wheel of fortune’--one person stands on the front for as long as possible as the rest spin the raft around. Since many of us were still mostly dry, Sarah encouraged us to jump into the river to cool off. When no one volunteered, she took a dip herself. Soon after, several others did the same. It was refreshing, and Sarah has mastered the lift procedure for getting you back into the boat. It was a fun trip, but I think we would choose a bit wilder section next time. (Although conditions vary with water levels.) Our only wildlife spotting was of an Osprey eagle. After an hour break to get lunch, and change clothes if needed, we returned to the office for our second adventure. (You can leave an extra set of clothes in a bin stored in the equipment shed. We wore quick dry items and didn’t change.) They set us up with a zip harness and helmet. (You must wear close-toed shoes.) Then we loaded into a van for our rugged, back road ride to the zip course. There was a fairly steep hike up to the zip course, stopping at demo equipment for instructions. Our guides, Tyler and girl-Jamie, were fun, patient, responsible, safe, and gave clear instruction. Once up on the towers we enjoyed an awesome view, which was a welcome distraction from my nervous anticipation. Since this was our first experience at zipping, I told Tyler that “I couldn’t tell if that was me shaking, or the tower”. He said, “Probably a bit of both”. The towers do shake and sway a bit, but felt secure. Tyler was quite a prankster comedian, who continued to joke my nerves away. We enjoyed 4 zips, a gapped suspension bridge, and a controlled free-fall repel. Jamie had shown us how to steer and even though I kept trying, I always managed to fly in backwards. We also made a clumsy attempt at the specially suggested poses. Equipment was triple-checked for proper connection and well maintained. It was fun to try something new and see what all the buzz was about. I think that with more experience it would get even better. Photographers took several great pictures during our day. These were available for viewing and purchase once we returned to the office/store. A special discount double pack was offered for Zip and Dip tours. (I think it was $80 for both a DVD for rafting and ‘zip’ drive for zip line. That’s a reasonable deal for a day-long double family adventure.) There are some fancy zip line companies at home that charge about the same price, but you only get one activity. They may have a couple more elements, and spend more time, but this was just the right to try something new. It was great to get 2 for the price of 1. We were contentedly tired at the end of the day. One suggestion—take a water bottle along on your double adventure. We did not, and were parched much of the time.
My sister and I zip lined with two other people with guides Garrett and Tyler on our trip to Yellowstone last week. It was the first time either of us had been and it was the funnest experience ever! Our guides were constantly causing us to laugh by telling jokes and just in general being super nice guys, both patient and helpful! I would totally recommend this zip! (especially with either of those guides) THANK YOU!
What a top thing to do I was kinda pushed in to this with much trepidation but turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip!!! everything you need is supplied and the staff are very friendly, Sam our guide was outstanding in his preparation and information, he gave clear and precise instruction and my fear soon dissapeared after our first rapid it was an absolutely fantastic ride will happily recommend this to anyone
My kids and I had a great day with our guides. We zip lined in the morning with Ryan and Luke. Then in the afternoon we went rafting with Emma. This was a first time for both type of adventures, and our guides were very knowledgeable and made our time very enjoyable. TThanks for everything and we will definitely be referring our friend to try out the day trips with you and your guides. If they are ever in the Yellowstone/Gardiner area.
Montana Whitewater was the perfect outfitter for an introduction to Whitewater rafting (Class II-III rapids). We were on the river in the afternoon as the 2nd half of our Paddle and Saddle Day. This experience allowed our group of 14 (teenagers and parents) to have a thrilling experience and our guide could not have been more amazing! Emma was fun, personable, and FUNNY and made what could have been a bad day (cool and rainy) into one of the best parts of our Yellowstone trip! She calmed the fears of some of our more worried paddlers, aided is paddle battles with other boats, let us swim in the calmer parts of the river, and taught us how to "rodeo" on the river! The experience provided by Montana Whitewater and Emma was so wonderful that many in our group can't wait to seek out more whitewater thrills! Make sure you request Emma as your guide if you are a fun loving and wild group - she won't let you down! Venture Crew #2229, Boat 2Visited July 2014
My mom (a grandmother) and I went to do the zip line. My mom being a little older (70ish) was a little slow climbing the ladders. But the crew there were so extremely patient and helpful that it made the whole experience exciting and fun for everyone. We were shown how to safely participate, and ways to make the zipping a bit more exciting (I got carried away and forgot to look at the river below!) Will definitely be on my list of things to do next time I am up there.
I really don't think we could have had better zip guides; they were wonderful! We would definitely recommend this trip to anybody traveling through the Gardiner area!! This was our first time zip lining, we have a small zip from our hometown that costs almost as much as the grande trip with only 4 lines so we were very excited for the all new adventure. We were with a group that was all willing to tackle the obstacles but Doug and Jamie were so great and excited to be out there with us! I will definitely be recommending this to all the families I know traveling to the area! I cannot wait to get back and do it all over again! Thank you Montana Whitewater and a special thank you to Doug and Jamie!!
