We are the new owners of HRB and wish to thank everyone for their reviews. Please note that this Trip Advisor page is from the previous owner so any reviews dated before 2014 do not reflect the new owners. There is also another Trip Advisor page that Shawn and I set up under Polebridge Home Ranch Bottoms to post on. We appreciate all comments on both pages though and look forward to our 2015 season!Shawn and Angie
My friends and family stay near Polebridge for a few weeks in July and late October. We stopped as often as we could at Home Ranch. Sean and Angie are the sweetest folks in Montana, and their hospitality reflects very well these good people. Their BBQ is excellent no matter what you get--my favorite is the pulled pork--and the potato salad and brownies are fabulous. The conversation is always rich and full of fun--I want to live with these guys! We were there in late October and really wanted to make a homemade pumpkin pie. Angie and Sean gave us one of their decorative pumpkins and a can of whipped cream; we brought them back a sampling of the pie and shared it with them, chased by a nice shot of good whiskey. They've got wi-fi, a great porch with picnic tables, and nice local arts and crafts for sale in their gift store. Heaven to me is hanging out in the Northfork with its wide open spaces, marvelous views, quiet nights, bountiful critters and toddy times and meals at Home Ranch. Can't wait to get back! Sean, Angie, and Keith , we miss you all!
During our honeymoon, My Wife and I stopped at the Home Ranch Bottoms for a visit. Shawn was very friendly and provided the newlyweds with a congratulatory drink on the house. If we had more time, we would have been able to try some of his mesquite smoked brisket that smelled amazing They're very friendly folks, you've got to stop in next time you're in Polebridge.
With something on the barbecue every day--pork ribs, brisket, wings--the food is very good! Servings are generous and tasty--add some local brew and end it with homemade huckleberry pie. Located in sparsely populated Polebridge, Home Ranch Bottoms is great, especially after a day of hiking. On cool days, the wood stove keeps the place toasty warm. We ate their several nights as we were staying in Polebridge Ranch cabin nearby and loved every meal. Check out their website at www.homeranchbottoms.com.
We stopped in for dinner after our trek to Bowman Lake and managed to get the last orders of ribs, which were fall-off-the-bone-tender. These people know how to smoke meat and the sides of beans and slaw were good as well.
Awesome, terrific place. The husband really knows how to barbecue! The brisket is world-class. I've had barbecue in TX, Saint Louis, Chicago, North Carolina, Memphis; and now Polebridge.... The best is at Home Ranch Bottoms. Ask for a shot of the huckleberry moonshine and bask in the warmth from a cozy bar with all sorts of down-to-earth, genuine characters at its counter. A perfect example that Americana is alive and well, you just need to look a little harder to find it! After dinner and two lunches, a hot shower after a week of camping in glacier np, and delicious beer, the facilities and atmosphere of this place make you want to put up your feet and linger awhile. Thank you for providing that timeless American quality: real hospitality!Bret and Amanda, Bend, OR
My wife and I were spent after all day canoeing on Kintla Lake. We weren't expecting much when we showed up at 4 in the afternoon, but much to our delight, it was both the friendliness and amazing food everyone hopes for in a small back country restaurant, but rarely sees. I had pulled pork and it blew my mind! It was amazing! My wife had a burger and said it was absolutely top notch. We saw the owner grilling ribs and it made us wish we were staying till we could get our food digested so we could go for round 2! You should make it a point to stop here if you find yourself venturing this far back into the wilderness. If not, I would even say it is worth making a trip way out of the way! The dirt road all the way here from the Going to the Sun Rd. is very well taken care of so don't feel haphazard when it goes to dirt.
The smoked pulled pork sandwiches - a must! The owners and their fantastic help (Keith & Linda) are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. We stopped in here twice during our 5 day stay in Polebridge and just loved the place with stories on the wall about a bear break-in a few years ago and how the place got its name. Hats off... you've got a great thing going on there! Also, a must try... the huckleberry ice cream! YUM!
We drove in out of curiosity and are glad we did. The couple that run this bar and store are delightful and personable. They are warm and welcoming and if we didn't have to drive 72 miles we would have stayed for more than one drink. The drink was not at all skimpy on the alcohol...just the way I like them. If we hadn't filled up on pastries down the road we would have ordered food which looked delicious. Spend some time hanging out here! You will have a great time. We will definitely be back next year and want to stay at their cabins. Our group ordered huckleberry margaritas, lemonade, and craft beer. If you are staying at Bowman or Kintla stop by for a drink. If you aren't it is still worth the drive.
We had a great experience at home Ransbottom. The food was really good. Adding the barbecue beans for a buck is a must. This guy is a great cook and he and his wife are perfect hosts. Without a doubt the huckleberry pie that we got here was the very best we've ever eaten. Would I stop there again? You bet! Nothing fancy. Just good old fashion Texas smokehouse deliciousness at its best.
My husband and I were so thrilled to find Home Ranch Bottoms and meet the new owners. The pulled pork sandwich was very good as was the beer. These new owners have only been open for a month or so - they are very friendly and creating a great spot for locals and tourists.
My wife and I had the pleasure of running across Home Ranch Bottoms on our way to Bowman Lake in GNP.We were toolin down the road and saw some signs on tree's and thought " wow there's something out here that's open? Much less in May? As we drove by we were pleasantly surprised. So much so, we stopped, threw it in reverse and backpedaled about a hundred yards to see Shaun out back cuttin firewood. Shaun and his wife just took over and let me tell ya, he's doin it right. After having the chance to go on to Bowman Lake that day we vowed to return and boy are we glad we did! This must feel like a superstore to the residents of Polebridge. Not only did Shaun stop and welcome us, he showed us around and told us about himself and the store. We tried a smoked pulled pork sandwich ( we had already made dinner plans but the aroma coming from the place was making me drool) and hole-e-cow was it amazing. Shaun brought Texas to Montana and I can say that I have been to Texas and ate at the Smoke Shack in San Antonio and it didn't come close to this.Besides food, they have all kinds of essential supplies, fire wood ( MUCH CHEAPER THAN IN THE PARK AND BETTER TOO), showers, and camping!Don't pass this place up. Quite the little slice of heaven!!I have no idea what the burger king review was talkin about.
Don't even think about it. 8 bucks for a wimpy burger and add another dollar for processed cheese. The meat was old and the overpriced food really sucks bad! Please keep going and save your money and your stomach for Burger King or A & W in C- falls.
What a fantastic place. Right off the main road to Polebridge. Can't miss it. Must try the pulled pork or brisket. Friday night is rib night, come and get some. We had the pulled pork which is incredible!
We stopped here today for lunch as part of our day at glacier national park, western entrance. Shaun and his wife have only reopened this place in the last five weeks and they both made us feel so welcome. We had some delicious German sausages freshly cooked over a wood fire. Shaun tells yes that if we had arrived tomorrow we could have tried some of his freshly smoked ribs and brisket. We planned to drive to Polebridge for lunch but are so glad we stopped here. We saw a bear and deer on our way back which completed the day.
