mountaineer military museum

This may just look like a building, but it's full of history and emotions. If you ever have a chance to go to the Mountaineer Military Museum, take it!

Don't let the size of this museum fool you! It is stuffed full of local military history. The displays are thoughtfully done in a manner that truly honors the veterans. We took about 30 homeschool students and they all enjoyed. Helpful to them was a scavenger hunt sheet with two different options for ages. The museum not only teaches history - it teaches honor. Since it is staffed by volunteers, it is mostly open on weekends so be sure to check the schedule!

This is a collection of history that makes history come alive for us and our children. What a great honor for our freedom!

We were looking forward to seeing the history about this place but when we got there it was closed so we just got a picture of the building and walked around it. I ended up looking it up on the internet but would have preferred to have seen what they had inside.

Great place and they are expanding for even more memorabilia! Also close to The Glass Museum downtown and great restaurants!

Small museum but well worth visiting! The folks who run it are friendly and passionate about the cause!

This is an amazing place and such a wonderful tubite to our amred forces of every branch. The private collection is amazing and the musuem will even get to exand soon. Please take the time to see this treasure as it will move you in amazing ways!!!

The folks at the MMM have done a tremendous job with a limited amount of resources. This museum does a wonderful job of showcasing the contribution and sacrifice that our military make every day. It is truly a labor of love and is definitely a hidden gem. The displays walk you through most of this country's wars using many pieces donated from local veterans and their families. It's interesting to see how a soldier's life changed over various conflicts. Definitely a good place to stop and spend an hour or so if you're in the area.
