splashadventurewaterpark.comNow family owned and operated by Dan and Pat Koch this park is coming back to life after a short absence. Rampage, the amazing wood coaster at the park, has been completely refurbished and is running better than ever. The staff is incredible, you really feel like family when entering, everything is spit spot clean and all you have to do is relax and have fun. A must see attraction!
We had a great time. Great rates and park. It wasn't as crowded as some other local water parks, but still crowded. I would recommend going on a Sunday or during the week as opposed to a Saturday. Our family still had a wonderful time.
We loved it. They are under new management and ownership, "The Koch Family", not the Koch brothers. The cost for my wife and I and our two grand children, ages 6 and 8 was $102.00 per day, so we bought two days. Then they gave each of us $10 of park cash per day, which they applied by scanning it into a bar code on each of our park bracelets. Pretty neat, huh? So we used our park cash to buy our lunch and a snack each day. So when you subtract our park cash from our tickets, you could say our net cost was only $62.00 for the day. That averages out to $15.50 for each of us. And man was it worth it. The kids loved the slides, the wave pool, the lazy river, and the large play area with the intermittent bucket splash. It was money well spent. They also have a young children's area that is fantastic. Even our 6 and 8 year old liked it. The new owners are conservative wholesome people who are trying to provide a place where the family can enjoy spending time with their children, so they are doing some things to encourage that. One of the new policies is that guests must wear a shirt or outer covering when spending time in the shops or eating places on main street. Once in the water park area the outer cover can be removed. All the staff we encountered were polite, professional, courteous, and helpful. The bathrooms were clean. And the food was good and reasonably priced. There is a Barbecue place at the end of Main Street that serves huge portions of barbecue and sides. My plate of barbecue pork and fries was more than I could eat. The same was true for my wife's order. So we decided that next time we eat there, we will share one order rather than one for each of us. When we went back to the park the next day we ate at a hamburger place in the middle of the water park. The burgers were large and tasty. The fries were served in large portions and were tasty as well. Since we bought the same ticket package for a second day, we stayed over night at a very clean and reasonably priced Quality Inn only three miles away. They honored a walk in coupon we clipped from "Travel Discount Coupons". Our whole experience was great. We will definitely go back next year. If you are considering visiting this park from the financial perspective, a visit to this park will deliver more enjoyment and pleasure for your children than you will find any where else for the price. And now that parking is free the bargain is even sweeter. You may consider doing what we did - buy two days of tickets with the $10 per day park cash per ticket, and stay in the Quality Inn after the first day at the park. They allowed us to check in early (11 AM) in order to get to the park.
I recently stopped by for a visit and to see what the park has to offer since new management has taken over. I would like to commend them for the park being clean! I would like to thank the management for buying the park because it gives the state something to do during their operating season. I would like to challenge the people of the state of Alabama and the surrounding states to visit and support the park. I know the park can not survive if people don't support it by visiting. The concept is the more people who visit the park the more rides the owners can buy to fill the park! I want the management to know that I met a Director (HR Department) she was so nice and helpful to myself and my family. My wife fell and was bleeding pretty bad and she took us in her office and helped me clean my wife up and she played with my two daughters and gave them pretend medical attention as well. After she gave us water and refreshments. We got to meet the owner after we left her office. What a first class act. I know it wasn't her job to help us like this but it was just nice to see that the employees in the park cares. Thank you HR lady!!!!! My daughter said she loves you!!!! Mr. Dan was the nicest man. I want him to stick around. Please support the park!
I have given this a Very Good review because 1] the major improvements they have made so far 2] because we want their venture to succeed. This is in reference to a family day spent with elementary, middle school and high school children. We have been going to Alabama Splash Adventure for 3 or 4 years now. One summer we had a summer pass. The next couple we only went once, each. We tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but the former owners consistently allowed the park to fall apart - amusement park shut down and the water park was FILTHY! - trash overflowing and diapers on the ground open. It was a disgusting place. This year it was purchase by a family, The Koch Family, who have a successful amusement park in the north of the US somewhere. During our visit I was able to meet the President, Mr. Don[Dan] Koch. He assisted us in remedying a very minor problem we had with one of the admissions bracelets. He was extremely helpful, kind, and took time to tell us, honestly, that they were making MANY new improvements and still had a ways to go. He told us of some the recent improvements that you might not see that make the park experience smoother and more enjoyable. His comment to us was, "If our family can't do it..." The families presence was seen throughout the entire day. They were on top of staff that did not perform up to par, asking them to smile more, etc. When we asked for assistance to have a snack bar opened that had been closed longer than an hour they were on it quickly and we had service just as fast. They have made improvements. There are still things that need more attending to. The bathrooms are still not as clean as I would like. There are areas that still need painting and/repairing for aesthetics. The trash was tended to. It did not smell. The water was clean as were all of the walking areas. If there was trash on the ground it was picked up soon. I even saw the mother of the Koch family picking up trash throughout the day and cleaning the restroom at one point. The few amusement park rides they did have were good and the younger children were the beneficiaries mostly. The teens could only ride a couple of the rides. They have plans to open more and more of the Amusement park area. Hopefully they will be able to fulfill their dream of making this a successful business and place of fun for the State of Alabama. All in all we had a great day and we wore out every slide in the park.
Granted, Splash Adventure isn't the biggest water park, but it is worth a visit. It was very clean, the lines were not long and there was a good variety of attractions for each of our children. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will definitely go again!
This place had really gone downhill but thankfully new owners have taken over and it is so much better. Perfect no but still a really great value for your money. We have gone twice this summer and plan on buying season tickets next year. Buy your tickets online before you go and get bonus cash. My kids loved buying their own lunches and snacks with their armbands. I am looking forward to seeing what the new owners have in store for this park. I think it is definitely worth going back if you haven't been in awhile. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. i know I was! I am thankful I had a friend who went recently and told me how much it had improved!
We love Splash Adventures. It is never too crowded. The water rides are fun and all located within one area. The staff could use help with friendliness and smiling. :-)
Just visited on Saturday, July 12, 2014 with a church youth group. The park is OK for the money. Of course more rides would be better, but wait times were not bad for the rides they have. They have closed down all of the non-water rides with the exception of a couple of kiddie rides--so it's pretty much just a waterpark; but for some reason guests are required to wear t-shirts in all areas outside of the "water park" entrance. Probably a carry-over rule from when they had non-water rides? Anyway not a big deal unless you or someone in your party gets seperated from their shirt outside the entrance to the water area (someone carrying their stuff goes out before them.) They had two to three people working that area all day doing nothing but telling people they must have a shirt to go out of the water park. While we were there they ran out of BBQ in one restaurant, nacho cheese at the only place one could purchase nachos, multiple flavors of self-serve frozen drinks; and bottled water? There was one small cart selling shaved ice that had water and powerades (shorter line than walk-up restaurants) They ran out of water fairly early. Seems like they would be better served having the shirt police go around restocking water/selling water in more locations. I would think that they should not run out of anything--It is the heat of the summer and they had some free concerts going on in the evening...I'm sure they will sell all they can stock. The same restaurant that ran out of BBQ also had a giant sign out front advertising "1/2 lb. Steak Burgers, they had NO burgers. The park was clean and fun for the most part. It's not a huge park, but doesn't cost as much either.
Splash Adventure has a new owner. It was very clean. All the employees were very friendly. Parking is free. Floats are free for the lazy river. My only complaint was the on line price did not match their prices on their sign at the park. On line price Seniors $22.00 plus tax and general admission for adults was $29.00 plus tax. Price at the park Seniors $$24.95 plus tax and general admission for adults was $29.95 plus tax.
Great fun for all ages. Beware, if your kids are going to ride, rides. They will need shirt, shoes and shorts. Just bathing suits are not excepted for rides. But great for the money
My kids (10 and 13) were excited to spend the day at the water park. Upon arrival the staff told me I had to purchase a full priced ticket to chaperone my kids. They got a "manager" to come talk to me and confirmed that, yes, I would need to pay for a full priced ticket. I explained that was unreasonable as I didn't even have a swimsuit with me. I told her the policies of other water parks: 1/2 price tickets, or a refund at the end of the day with a dry wristband. Nope, the only person that could make that decision was not working. The "manager" then informed me I could drop my kids off, but they would be responsible for them or anything. I got a refund for my kids and we left. My kids even saw the foolishness of turning away business. No reason to go back ever again.
Alabama Splash Adventure apparently new owners by Koch Family Parks. We had a great day at the park. I gave it a 4 out 5 stars because part of the Amusement rides were not open, all the water rides where open. It sounds like they have been closed and the Koch family is trying to re-open them... but not open the day we went (Monday). We bought our tickets on line and included Splash Adventure dollars on the bar code on the wrist. It was easy for the go and get something to eat or drink and just show them their wrist. Most life guards where very friendly and observant. Some silly rules but they were doing as they were told... just a terrible approach on just a few. But the staff in the village, IE the candy shop and the ice cream & snack shop where WORTHLESS. Besides that it was a great experience. It was Very Nice to have FREE PARKING and FREE SUN BLOCK!!!We were there for almost 7 hours and had a blast. Thanks for the great day
I've taken my family since day one of operations. I've watched the park go from 5 star to 0 star. This year I'm extremely impressed with staff and the future projects in working state for the growth of this park. The New owner has recovered from bad service and bad people to an above standard setting the stage for other parks to fall into.Food is cooked correctly and staff still has issues but it'll take time to remove the bad seeds from the basket. For the price and events a season pass is your best purchase. Some employees still acting like it's a joke but if the upper staff did is job they go quickly. Not enough upper management walking and observing still.
While the rides and attractions were fine, be sure to get there early. They close at 7:00pm everyday and they don't offer 1/2 day or discounted rates. Got there at 5:00pm and had to pay full price. Check at near fast food places to get discount coupons. They don't offer any at the window.Lockers quite expensive also but you may not have any other choice.Overall, good experience but again, get there early!
