the shoals golf club - fighting joe course

To start of, I played this course on 11/23/20014 and it rained almost the entire day which of course is not the course's fault. The clubhouse was very nice and all staff very friendly. I did not eat in the clubhouse or spend much time in it to adequately comment. The practice facility was very nice with driving range, chipping green with bunker, and putting green. For the fall, the course was in good shape with fairways brownish-green and clearly differentiated from the rough. The greens were in fantastic condition and were very green and rolled true. Course was mainly a links course with a few trees and some water and lots of bunkers. Very fair test of golf with a variety of tees and distances. The course finished up on the river/lake and was very beautiful especially at sunset. I also played the Schoolmaster on 11/24/2014 and would give it the same review. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 days of gold and would definitely recommend especially as is a great value at about $65 a round. Hope this helps.

Course was in great shape. People are always very friendly. Course is always a pleasure to play. One of the best on the trail.

Great atmosphere! Panoramic views of the Tennessee River. Eat on the covered deck if the weather is nice. Golf club food is mostly sandwiches. Not much variety and the desserts are not homemade, but the chips are and they are the best!

This Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Course is among my favorites, because, while certainly the longest course I have played (8,092 yards from the tips, with a 716-yard Par 5)), it also has wide fairways and wonderfully manicured greens and beautiful landscaping. The penalty for wayward shots is great and with 11 holes having water that comes into play, the course provides a challenge that may be too frustrating for the Sunday golfer...but I would take it on with a 5-iron and a putter just to get to walk this unique layout. As is true for all of the RTJ Trail courses, the clubhouse and staff are top-notch and ready to make your visit a comfortable and satisfying event - apart from your score!
