We had dinners there on two occasions and were not disappointed. Good food and good service. Friendly wait staff. Clean. Not too crowded if you get there before 6 PM. Recommended.
Our food was tasty and well presented. Large servings so you will not leave hungry. Wait staff were tentative and pleasant. Many people eating which is a good testament to the restaurant.
We stayed next door on Lakeview Inn (Otto Lake). Black Diamond restaurant was a very nice and clean place, great view. The food was very good and my family was very satisfied. Dress was casual. Prices were about right for the area.
My wife and I went on the covered wagon lunch tour early in the season, and it was amazing. The guides were energetic, and the food was 5 star. We returned for another tour with a few friends (we all live in Anchorage) and were extremely disappointed. The guides seem to have just given up, and the lunch was tasteless. Last time, my wife picked the chefs brain for almost 20 minutes about his style of cooking and ingredients, and he gave us some amazing tips on a few things. I wish I could remember his name, but I can't. I only remember he had an tattoo of Alaska on his arm. We were very let down with the quality of our second trip, and unfortunately, we don't think we will return. Oh, might have helped if we didn't hear the atv guides that came with their group complaining about how the owners had them in terrible living conditions. Not sure who is right, but I would suggest staying away from here late season.
Our group was taken out by Milladin, our driver and Lucas, our guide and 2 hard working Belgian horses, Gus and Isaac. We had a wonderful time, from start to finish. Lucas was very informative and extremely entertaining. The meal that was served was delicious and plentiful. After our meal, Gus and Isaac posed with us for photos of our memorable journey. We all agreed that this was the highlight of our trip!
leisurely ride with a great driver and a talkative guide. Food was great at the cabin but felt rushed. Saw some beautiful country and heard about some of the local lore. Shared the trail with some ATV's which ruined the quiet.
Me and my friend are two Taiwanese women. This is our first time arrive Nepal.Though we don't have lot's of time, but we still decide to do the trekking.which if we didn't go I will regret !We make the all package with 4 days Trekking include the transport from Kathmendo to Pokhra. And the hotels, all the meals (not include water)They made as a really good arrange. We enjoy a lot!A specially the guide "Keshav Raj Amgai" he is so nice!At first he looks quite shy and serious. After one day, when we start to talk ,he is really a funny guy!He take care us as princesses. At the end we meet also his wife, and have a dinner together. He made this trip more incredible!
Okay, we thought this would be hokey. Instead, we had a charming Lithuanian tour guide who totally charmed us and made us laugh. The views were spectacular! The driver was experienced and warm. The horses are magnificent and powerful beasts. The food was like home cooked which was much appreciated after eight days of traveling and restaurant food. It was rainy. It was cold. The mosquitoes were biting. But this covered wagon ride and dinner were a bright spot in the Denali part of our trip. Well worth the ride and price.
We were signed up to do the bus tour with the hotel but because we had small children (1 -12 yrs old) we opted to do the covered wagon tour instead, and what a great decision that was. We were picked up at the hotel and driven to the covered wagon, where we were given warm cookies (wish I had the recipe) and set off with the horses, wagon, and warm blankets. We heard great folk lore stories of the area, saw a moose fairly close, (eating and watching us) and had a great breakfast in the cabin. Did I mention taking photos and petting the friendly horses was a special treat? Ross was our guide and Erin the horse wrangler and driver. The 3 yr old loved petting "Jeb", saying, "This one's a good boy." I highly recommend this trip.
One of the best ATV tours around. I would call it an escorted ATV adventure with a designated driver in a 5 passanger Ranger. It was a rainy/muddy day but Black Diamond had plenty of rain paints/jackets to wear over your clothes. Our guides Sean and John were amazing and wonderful with kids!! The family style meal was delicous (Pasta,Salmon,Ribs,Chicken,Stew). Not to mention because you have drivers they will pack a cooler with drinks (sodas for kids and beer/wine for adults) and snacks for the tour that is included with your ticket price. At the end the treasure is little nicnacs from the giftshop.
My family of four had a great adventure with Ross and Ryan. My children are 1 and 3 yrs old and both enjoyed the horse drawn covered wagon adventure including a moose sighting as well as food offered at breakfast. The breakfast was more of a feast with: eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, muffins, pancakes, potatoes, coffee and milk. Ross was very entertaining talking about the trail, history of Alaska and vegetation of the land. A must for travelers visiting the Denali National Park.
We had a limited amount of time to visit this part of Denali as part of our land tour on our Princess Cruise. Due to the time constraints and young children, we opted to do the covered wagon tour. It was very entertaining! Ross was our guide and Erin was our driver, and they were funny and charming and made the tour fun for the entire group. We were all hungry when we got there and were pleasantly surprised to be given large warm delicious oatmeal cookies to tide us over until we got to the site for breakfast. Once we got to the site we were served an enormous hearty and delicious breakfast. We learned a lot about the area, the horses, and the Black Diamond Company. I was impressed with the very diverse staff and was almost as interested in learning about them as I was about the area. What a fun morning! We all had a great time! Thanks to Ross and Erin for making the a fun adventure for our family!
Went on the 6 pm atv tour. It was fantastic! John and Steven from Jamaica were our guides. We had a fabulous time with them. They knew a ton about the area, the park, and our tour overall. We had a great dinner, and John and Steven were our servers as well!! Masters of all their trades :) Highly recommend doing a tour with them it will be the highlight of your trip.
We recently visited Denali National Park and took part in a Black Diamond Treasure Hunt tour. Daniel, our guide, was spectacular. I took my Mom and my 13 year old son on the trip and we ended up being the only ones on the tour. Daniel took the time to teach my son how to enter the GPS coordinates into the Garmin tracker and then my son took over the navigation of the tour. We are geocaching enthusiasts and this few hours didn't disappoint. We had dinner half way through (provided in our tour) and there was so much food, provided by Arthur, that I thought they would have to roll us out of the cabin. Salmon, ribs, bison chili, chicken, corn, bread, pasta salads, and dessert! Daniel was knowledgeable about the area and the views were amazing. The only thing I would have liked would have been the ability to track the caches we found on the geocaching.com site so we could share our experience. Overall fantastic experience and I would recommend this for beginners and experienced cachers alike!
We came on a rainy day, July 1 and Sean was our guide on the "Treasure Hunt" tour. We loved Sean because he was very friendly and knowledgable. He was very good at making us feel right at home while we drove and at our delicious meal. I am fourteen years old and my brother is nine. We both thought Sean was awesome as he drove us through the many puddles and bumpy roads. It was a very cool experience. I would recommend this experience esp when it is raining.
