got to see what is in the waters around Kodiak. Nice display. Enjoyed watching kids play with the animals and tell you about them in their minds.
We happened upon this little gem from the advice of a friend. There did not seem to be a lot of visitors which was nice because we had one on one attention from one of the workers there. She spent a great amount of time with us talking about the variety of animals in their tanks.
A nice quiet place to interact with sea life and learn about the ocean habitat. Also get to read studies conducted by NOAA.
Weren't going to go -- so glad we did. It was so cool, tons of laughs and fun - regardless of your age! Don't miss this fun time!
A lot of history and information about the town and animals !In walking distance to downtown and local hotels and resturants.
If you are looking for a place to see local critters head to KFRC! Pet a fish, pick up a king crab, admire the octopus!
A lot is packed into a small space - so many types of starfish and aquatic life including fish that can be found in the nearby ocean are showcased in a three story aquarium. Very nicely done.
Beautiful mounts, live fish and crabs, kids can touch a lot of sea life, all you have to do is to sign in.
Small but interesting with many varieties of local fish. Easy to view them in the tank and you can pick some of them up if you choose. The views from the building are gorgeous
Lots of local marine life, touch tank has many nice surprises and variety. It's a small area but you can easily spend 30-60mins and learn about the local marine life.
My 34 yr old KID was the first to plunge into the touch tank. So, I did too. Great for kids to explore the life of the ocean!
This delightful little aquarium and touch tank, located a short drive from town, is well worth visiting, if you are in Kodiak. A giant, water-filled tube that you can walk all around serves as the aquarium. It houses a terrific array of local marine life including small halibut, flounder, rock fish, king crab, sea cucumber, a variety of starfish, and other animals. The touch tank enables those interested in doing so to handle various animals. Both the tank and the aquarium are conducive to taking excellent photos. There are also various displays giving information about the marine life around Kodiak.
Facility is more a research place so the Aquarium and touch tank, while in good shape, are smalland it will not take much time to visit. Probably a great place to take children since they would love the touch tank. If you are squeezed for time in Kodiak, this would be one visit you could skip. Workers are very knowledgeable.
Small aquarium with lots of unusual creatures, fish and crustaceans all living together. Knowledgable staff explains the different species. There is also a touch tank with anemones, cucumbers, and other unusual sea life.
This is a small but very education aquarium. One of the best touch tanks I've ever experienced. Our group was all adults and everyone who tried it enjoyed it, especially those who came from states that aren't on the ocean. Very informative wall panels. Worth a visit.
