We visited over the Thanksgiving weekend and all I can say is WOW what a view! The campsites were very nice (lots of shade) and have great views of the lake. amenities include water and electric (20 and 30 amp service), playground, boat dock, hiking trails, and WiFi in some locations. There is also a small gift shop at the main entrance.Restrooms were very clean, but the showers take a bit of learning to use since there are no knobs. There are two buttons you push to regulate the temperature and it took me about 10 minutes before I got the temperature right.A word of advice! There is not much in the way of cell service in the area. Out T-mobile phone did not work, and there is sporadic coverage for ATT. Also there are no supermarkets or Wal-marts nearby. For that matter there is only a small gas station/convince store about 5 miles east of the park entrance. I would highly recommend making sure you have plenty of food and gas with you.If you are into geocaching, there are a handful of geocaches in the park, but there are lots of geocaches in the area. We spent almost a whole day at the Laurel Creek public area (about 10 miles from the park) geocaching.
My husband and I went to Daisy State Park for the weekend. When we camp, we go for nature and peace and quiet. We like to relax and maybe go for a hike. If that's what you're looking for, don't go here. Don't get me wrong. The park is nice. The lake is beyond beautiful. The bathrooms, especially in Area A, are super nice. The park is clean and seems to be maintained very well. That's why I gave it four stars. It's not our preference but others enjoy it just fine. The campsites are really close together and are uphill from the lake. There's not much room around the fire pit, at least not in the area we camped at. Part of the camping experience is just hanging out around the campfire. Most of the fire pits and picnic tables are down a little hill from the campsite. Also, if you want to walk down the hill from the site to the lake, it's really steep. If I had small children, I wouldn't want to take them there. The lake was down and we hiked down the hill and walked around the lake a little. We enjoyed our time because no matter where we are we're not going to whine about it, we're going to have fun. Another thing, some campers in another area across the way seemed to be really loud and they had a dog that barked often. I'm all for having fun but there is a bit of camping etiquette that needs to be learned by some. All that being said, it's a nice place and if your plans are to get on the lake and not stay at the campsite long, then you'll be fine here, as long as you don't mind giving up a little privacy because you're going to be close to your neighbors.
Thank you for your visit to Daisy State Park and your comment on Trip Advisor. We are happy that you enjoyed your visit and look forward to your next visit.
Thank you for bringing your boy scout troop to Daisy State Park for their camping adventure! Your group did a great job on their service project and we look forward to your next visit. We also appreciate you taking the time to recognize our park and staff on Trip Advisor.
The campground is well maintained though we did lose electricity during a storm for a few hours. The lake is beautiful and very popular for fishing and boating with several large marinas in the area. There are boat launches and kayak rentals available in the state park. The sites were shady and mostly level though no sewer hook ups available. It is a beautiful campground with many shady well maintained sites. Campground seems popular with families and retirees. We originally visited to explore the motorcycle trails that are advertised as part of the campground. Be aware that you cannot ride your bike / ATV to the trail head if it is not street legal. We were on dual sport motorcycles and found the trails mostly double track though there were some old trails from a hare scramble / enduro that had been held in the area. All of the trails were poorly marked and overgrown. We managed to follow them without too much backtracking. maps are available at the ranger station where you check in. Unless you are an experienced rider use the Kirby Landing trailhead to ride the ATV trail instead of the trailhead at the state park
This is a GREAT place to spend some quality time with family and friends. The lake is beautiful and the people working at the office were the nicest. Recommend this place to anyone!
Very nice campground. Our site was right on the lake. clean and well kept with a marina close by where you can rent boats. We did and had a great time on the huge lake. ADVICE - check sites out on Google Earth and pick what you want
I visited this park with my mother who has a wheelchair and a golf cart to see the sights. However, very rude park rangers informed us that we could only us the golf cart to drive see the sights on the way to and from the bathroom. What a smart zero-tolerance policy! Thanks for the awful experience!
the lake tour was so fun. we paid about $10 a person and it was well worth it. Lots of wildlife and the boat was very safe and modern. A good family outing.
We camped here for three nights during the summer. It wasn't as hot as it normally is in Arkansas in July and made for a beautiful trip. The campground is great, a mix of RV campers and tents. The visitor's center has the normal few t shirts, post cards etc, but also has the things you might forget ( matches, hot dog roasting sticks, fire wood etc.) and some snacks and such. There is a small swimming area at the lake which we swam in, and many of the campsites overlook the lake. #51 is a great one. You can rent a kayak, which we did and that was fun, there are several small islands you can kayak to, and the kids liked "exploring" them. There is only one small hiking trail, about 3/4ths of a mile long, which was nice, but that was the only one. It seemed like most people brought their boats to enjoy on the lake, either fishing, water skiing, tubing etc. Some also had jet ski's. The playground was great, the kids loved it. It was well maintained and clean and modern. The bathrooms were also very very nice. The shower facilities were very clean and well kept. There are 3-4 geocaches in the park if you are into that, and several more close by. The park interpreter is wonderful. I think she's only there for the summer, but she was the best. We went to several programs including the Dutch oven one, and we all had fun, it was great for adults and kids. Overall this was a great trip. There isn't much around it ( like Walmart) if you need to go, but I kind of like that:). We enjoyed a nice campfire after days of kayaking and the playground and enjoyed the lake. We also saw many chipmunks, squirrels, deer and birds. Will certainly be going back.
we had a great time swimming at their beaches. The one near the boat docks was a bit small and no one was there to collect the $1 charge. But we found a 2nd larger beach with wonderful views by driving up river from the dam using our GPS maps.. The sand goes at least as far at you can walk into the lake. The water was warm enough for this old lady to swim in June. The grand children don't care about temperature. They are always ready to jump into water. We parked right near the beach.
My husband, daughter, and I tent camped here from April 17-24. It is a beautiful park with large campsites and many with a view of the lake. The park staff were all really nice and helpful. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and well maintained. We had a great time fishing and exploring the park. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Arkansas.
I was glad to see that there were some new geocache in the park. My Son came with my wife and I since he hadn't found all of them in the park we took time to let him find those also. I've also (last year) been fishing out on the lake with a friend. beautiful lake, great park. all together makes a beautiful area.
We took a family camping trip here and had the greatest time! There were several activities scheduled that weekend and we did almost all of them. We had a great time & the kids had a great time. They are ready to go back and visit Sam! :)
We went to let the kids play on the toys for a bit and move around some. What we got was more than amazing! We saw they were having a dutch oven cobbler demonstration around the campfire that evening and went. The park manager Tami was so helpful and sweet with our girls. She makes a pretty awesome cobbler as well. This turned out to be mine and my 3 daughters favorite part of our trip and we did a lot of stuff while in Arkansas. The lake was fun to throw rocks into as well. Very CLEAN and PEACEFUL place with a Great playground. We are now planning to make a trip back there just to camp at this park we loved it that much. If you are in the area stop at the park. We found a board by the play area that told us about the activities for that evening.
