Great place for photo ops if you love the Beatles. Unique, one-of-a-kind experience that is putting this little town on the map.
I attended the Beatles in the Ridge Music Festival. Beatles Park and downtown Walnut Ridge a fun place for Beatles fans.
Once upon a time the Beatles flew into this tiny airport and the rest is history. This little town has built an entire park, festival, memorabilia around the Beatles landing. There are numerous sculptures to view regarding the Beatles, Guitar walk, and every year in September there is a wonderful festival . Lots of vendors, crafts, music centered around the Beatles. The highlight is the Liverpool Legends concert which is awesome.
Walnut Ridge is making the most out of the Beatles coming to the airport. What a unique idea - and they renamed 2nd street to Abbey Road. Great photo op!!!
You can't get the full Beatles Park experience without a cup of premium roast coffee from The Dark Side! Friendly baristas and delicious drinks and pastries!
Our family is all about the Beatles so we had to make this stop. Much effort and great art. We took our pictures with the Beatles and then stopped at the Dark Side Cafe for a bowl of delicious soup.
The Beatles flew into Walnut Ridge airport one night, enroute to a wealthy Missourian's place because it was the closest airport that could accommodate their plane. That makes Walnut Ridge folks proud enough to erect this shrine that emulates the cover of the Abbey Road album. They're very proud of it and you should probably do them the courtesy of checking it out if you're passing through. The Mexican restaurant down the block is a good one.
Beatles Park is where you will find the locals tribute to The Beatles only visit in Arkansas. It happened the 3rd weekend of September, 1964. This is a real piece of art. It's 20' wide and 10' tall. The backdrop made of heavy aluminum plates and the sculptor used a Dremel Power-tool and 4 inch grinder to carve the Abbey Road album cover in the metal. The black silhouettes as lifesize in front of the backdrop. There are also 50 to 60 item, or phrases the artist added in to the work and they have them listed beside the sculpture, so you can see how many you can find. It's one block from the Guitar Walk. The town even renamed that one block long street "Abbey Road".
