kings bowling

This place is Chuck E Cheese with a liquor license. We were told it would be 2/3 hours to bowl and you were allowed two strings. Kids everywhere on the pool tables under the tables running into the cues while shooting. After we finally get on the lanes, more kids running back and forth and in general having a great time. The most anybody was scrutinized was when we brought in our own bowling shoes. The shoes were inspected to make sure they were compatible with the lanes ( you have got to be kidding me). The reason for the two circles was the ability to get 32oz drafts. After four of these I just bowled at the kids and said screw the pins. Must say bowling at munchkins was fun.

I've been to Kings twice since they opened in early February. The first time with a group of adults, and the second time with kids and adults. First, the positives. The bowling is great. They enter your names into the computer when you get your shoes, so if you care about the order in which you bowl, speak up. They can fit a maximum of 8 people per lane. If you are bowling with kids, they can set the bumpers to come up for the kids, but then they automatically retreat back down for the adults. This was a great feature. The lanes themselves are good, except there are giant video screens every few lanes and about 10 feet down the lane. Fun - but can also be a bit distracting. When I was there at night with the group of adults, the music videos they were showing were definitely not kid friendly (note: kids aren't allowed in after 6pm, though you will be able to finish your game). Thankfully, when we were there with the kids the videos were totally appropriate, though still distracting.Kings also has a theater room...maybe 4-5 rows of stadium seating. Not sure exactly what they plan on doing with it, but it would be fun if you were there for a big game or something. There is also another room with pool, shuffleboard, darts, etc.Now to the negatives. On both occasions we ate dinner at Kings (a super early dinner with the kids). And on both occasions there was one meal mistake that took several attempts to rectify. The first time was with the adult group, and due to a snow storm, there were not very many other people there - so it's not like the kitchen was busy. One of our group asked for a specific burger, but without cheese. Of course, when the food arrived, it had cheese. So he sent it back.....and waited... and waited. The rest of us were almost finished with our food, when his new burger arrived. This time it had nothing on it - no bacon, no lettuce, no tomato. So back it went a 2nd time - and again there was quite a wait. Had the restaurant been crowded, I would have understood the delay, but since it wasn't, I'm not quite sure why it took so long. A similar thing happened when we brought the kids. They forgot to bring one of the kid's meals, and then when they finally did (again a long wait), they brought the wrong dish. By the time they brought the right dish out, everyone else was ready to bowl. Overall we enjoyed the food - especially the sesame ginger wings and the french fries. I'm counting on the kitchen getting its act together.Despite the kitchen issues, we will definitely give Kings another try, as overall it is a fun night out. We found most of the staff to be quite friendly and helpful.

The management here really needs to learn how to run an establishment. For the obscene amount of money you spend here you would expect to be able to have some fun. We are professionals that were looking to shoot some pool etc. Apparently we were having way too much fun and got cut off after having 1 glass of wine and 3 diet cokes. Whoa! Interestingly there was two families right next to us who had a number of drinks with children in attendance and it was perfectly acceptable for the man to "roughhouse" his partner in the middle of the bowling alley. Truly amazing. I worked in the service industry for years so I am very familiar with the laws re: drinking. If you like Kings... just go to another one and drive right past Burlington MA.

Went here on Wednesday afternoon of the February school vacation week with a 4 and 7 year old. Kings opened a few weeks ago and is very attractive space - I think they're trying to be 1950s-1970s retro, but not entirely sure. When we arrived, there was a 30-60 minute wait for a lane. We were told that we needed to leave a credit card or ID in order to get a buzzer that would alert us when our lane was ready. The hostess advised that we could sit in the dining room or sit at tables closer to the lanes,but those were more self-service. We ended up sitting in the dining room, which is mostly high top tables. It took a while to get menus, but once Dave (our waiter) came to the table, everything was great. They have a decent tap beer selection, Shirley Temples with lots of cherries, and very good food. We had the mozzarella/tomato sandwich, fries, bacon tater tots (our least favorite), Bourbon burger, kids' macaroni and cheese, and kids' cheese sticks and chicken fingers. We were very happy with our meals and the service was attentive. They had a magician there because of school vacation week. He actually came to our table while we were having lunch and did a few magic tricks for the kids. They were so excited. The magician (Evan) even remembered their names when we went to the magic show afterwards.The lanes are nice. It's big ball bowling, but the kids handled the balls just fine. The smallest balls were around 6 pounds and they very quickly figured out what color ball to pick up to get the lightest weight. You can set up bumper bowling for each bowler individually by using the touch screen menu at the lane. A very nice feature. I opted for bumpers just for the kids, but should have added bumpers for me as well (I'm a terrible bowler). There is waitress service at the lanes themselves, which we really appreciated when the kids decided that they loved their food so much that they wanted another order of the chicken fingers and cheese sticks All in all, it was a great way to spend an afternoon, but here's a few of the negatives..Not sure why there was a 30-60 minute wait for bowling- it just didn't seem that crowded, so the waits may be extensive at night. (I believe that nights are adult only starting at 6 or 7pm).The dining room was a nice place to eat, but the restaurant tables closer to the lanes were also nice. Not sure why I was told that they were self-service, as they also come with waitress service. Maybe the hostess meant that they were self seating, i.e., you need to find your own table. This might be important at night when it's more crowded, but wouldn't have been a problem on a Wednesday afternoon.

Great activity for all ages. There is lots of high tech lighting, instructions, and music. Bumper guards are available for the little guys. You can order food and drinks off the menu while bowling. Each bowling lane is assigned a waitress. My grandsons love the air hockey game in the adjacent room!
