There are miles of hiking trails here. This is a Trustees of Reservation property. It was their first property, acquired from Frederick Law Olmstead in 1897. Some of the trails are part of the Bay Circuit. The vistas from the higher ledges are outstanding. It's also a nice place to picnic. Parking is limited, especially at the south entrance.

Lovely spot for hiking near the city. Fantastic views of the Charles River, woods and river flats. Lots of different ways to approach the King Phil Overlook - avoid the trails used by the horses. The horses cause a lot of erosion and the trails used by equestrians are very rocky and in poor condition. Great spot for mountain biking.

Great place to stroll with smaller folk. With the two major lookout points over the Charles River, its not just a hike - but you have a destination to motivate anyone. Hardly ever see too many people which is nice, its a beautiful spot that we visit often. Only downside is parking which is extremely limited and often taken up by out of towners accessing Farm Pond.

Great walking on different terrain. Wonderful view of the river from lookout. Walks can be short or longer depending on route. Map available.

not big, not much variation in terrain. Parking better than normal. Good if you are local, otherwise easy to find better.

Best approach is by canoe. Otherwise, the trails are nice but e prepared to hike a bit. Fine views of the Charles River.

I like this area. It's clean, pretty well marked and has a few different parking areas. Though the BEST way to see it is by kayaking on the Charles River and pulling up to its shoreline for a lunch break. Climb the overlook for the superb view.

Rocky Narrows is a lovely wooded hiking area. It has moderately strenuous inclines on rocky trails. At the top there's a beautiful view of the Charles River, especially gorgeous with autumn color!

Rocky Narrows is a great place for short hikes through the woods, with some spectacular viewpoints. There's two parking places - one on S Main Street (Route 27) which has only a handful of parking places, and another Forest Street (about the same size, but easier to get into).Following the Red Trail will get you to King Philip's Overlook and Rocky Narrows Overlook, both with great views across the Charles River. The trails aren't that well marked, but there's usually plenty of people to help (lots of dog walkers). The walking is sometimes wet and steep, but not at all difficult.Warning: In summer, some of the trails can become impossible because of mosquitoes!

Rocky Narrows is both land and Charles River. We usually go by river since it is a lovely trip that is easily accessible. You can put in about one mile upstream at the Route 27 Medfield section of the Charles River and follow downstream. You will know the narrows the begin by the granite cliffs to your left just after you go under a railroad bridge. There is good fishing in this area for largemouth bass, perch, pickerel, and even some carp.Spring can see high water and some rapid current but nothing dangerous. Summer can get quite low in some spots. There are a couple of obvious places to pull out for a picnic and you really feel like you are away from it all even though you are only a mile or so from some very populated areas. In the Narrows area you can hike off to the left side of the river for the main Narrows land or off to the right side of the river on the lands of the now closed Medfield State Hospital. I enjoy June the best with good water levels, flowers in bloom, fish, and waterfowl. A couple of miles upstream is a big area for Great Blue Herons and it is common to see them sitting on the side of the river or fly up or down stream with their huge wingspan and annoyed squawk.
