A perfect trail for youngsters and seniors, as well as those in between. Nice displays, beautiful water. You can almost hear the canoe paddle as a Native American passes by these ancient shores. Nice.

Not easy to find, but laid back, peaceful and gorgeous. Bring a picnic and binoculars. Beautiful walks or hikes, no hills. Free admission, free parking, portable johns only (but miles of woods).

What a lovely place! and it is free! My husband, daughter and I were the only visitors on a beautiful sunny Sat. in Aug. Saw loads of birds, butterflies, snakes and an eagle! lots of very easy and well maintained hiking trails with many benches placed along the way to rest and take in the peace and quiet. A lovely surprise! Great photo opportunities for nature lovers.

This offers a quiet, natural walk through the woods with hidden artwork amongst the trees. It is delightful, but if one has limited time, take a ride on the Oxford Ferry.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Pickering Creek on a Sunday afternoon. It was deserted, which was fine. The trails are very easy and short with a boardwalk in spots. The creek was very fruitful as far as finding birds-bald eagles, many warblers, turtles, frogs, egrets, herons, etc. It's probably a good spot when it's hot out. It's a little tricky to find but well worth it, and FREE!Spot a pot available.

I am glad you enjoyed your visit to Pickering Creek. We primarily work with school groups, though we are happy to still offer the centers trails and wildlife viewing opportunities to the public from sunrise to sunset 365 days a year, free of charge. Our offices are staffed from 9-5 M-F, with Saturdays, Sundays and holidays being great days for the public to enjoy the quiet peacefulness of the great outdoors, unfettered by buildings and staff.

I'm not a bird watcher but I could tell that is was not only a great spot for the birds but for hikers, as well. Trails are great and the whole place is so tranquil. Spotted a bald eagle. Make sure you go over to the pond.

Saw lots of birds and frogs in the meandering hike through different landscapes. The kids were not eager to hike in the heat with the bugs, but everyone ended up having a great time, even with the mosquitoes. :D

My wife and I visited the Pickering Creek Audubon Center on a gray, cold day in March. Not many people there. They have created some freshwater wetlands. The ponds held ducks and geese. We got to see and hear about 500 geese take off, en masse, from a pond. It was pretty spectacular.

We usually go to Blackwater but on occasion stop in here. Its a very healthy Audubon Center, and the grounds are full of trails with great birding spots. It is actually a farm so the fields attract a number of migrants in the spring and fall. I enjoy just sitting near one of the brambly hedges to see what come and goes from it. They also have canoes for Audubon members, which I just learned, so need to try those next time I go. Wear footgear that can get wet, as some of the trails are mushy.
