We were lucky enough to win a night stay at the manor house and a day full of shooting with a lesson from a well trained instructor. Jim and Cindy were gracious enough to donate a wonderful night stay along with the shooting of sporting clays. I can't express enough how enjoyable this weekend was and how we were treated like royally while staying at this beautiful mansion. Jim and Cindy made us a dinner that would only be served at the best restaurants that I know I couldn't afford. They made us so much food that we had to take some of it home and had a meal the next day. They normally only do this for large groups or corporate events which is too bad for anyone else who would like the best of everything. The shooting was so incredibly enjoyable and the staff made us first trimmers feel very comfortable and they were more than willing to give helpful tips if asked. Thank you Jim and Cindy and we will visit again for sure!!!Mike and Hazel
Wife and I were on MD Eastern Shore for a few days of relaxation. Wide expressed an interest in shooting clay pigeons so our hotel in St. Michaels - Inn at Perry Cabin - recommended we check out Pintail. On Monday's and Tuesday's they are by appointment only so we booked a lesson and 50 targets. We opted for the 20 gauge versus the 12 for the misses to save her shoulder. After some brief instruction they take you out on their course - maybe a dozen or so stations that have different looks at the targets. We moved between stations with a golf cart but it can easily be walked. Wife got one on her first station and after the first 3 or 4 stations (approx. 5 shots per station) our hit rate was 60 to 70%. Seems pretty good for a new sport. The instructor was very patient, let's you take your time and gives you feedback on every shot to help you adjust. Probably took 50-55 shots and we were our for about an hour and a half. The grounds at Pintail are gorgeous, some water, open fields, a few areas with corn and a nice backdrop of trees in the distance. They really have a great set up and make sure you have a good experience - which is basically knocking clay pigeons out of the sky. We would definitely go back and try again
Our group was concerned on how many stations were closed or non-working, maintenance, repair, and operations needs to be a top priority. The target presentations were excellent and the grounds were clean, and on average we all had a great time we just wished more stationswere available to be shot and the staff would have looked into this when/as we were reporting issues. Many of the stations we were not able to throw "doubles" as the stations shows 'off'...?I will return again, but it may be hard to get the group here again... I will add that the last time I shot here (Sept-2013) all was 100% working and I did not have an issue.
Over the 4th of July weekend we stopped at Pintail to shoot. We expected to be a bit crowded, but it turned out we were almost alone. You can shoot the course on your own, they just give you a plug in device that throws the clays and keeps track of how many you pull. This means you can spend time on targets that challenge you or on targets that are just fun to shoot. No puller to tell you to move on. The targets were a great mix of easy fun targets, challenging targets, and a couple of VERY hard targets. The grounds are immaculate. If you get a chance to shoot here, don't pass it up!
Took three boys ages 10 - 13 and my wife for an hour long lesson. Mr Wise was our guide/instructor and I can't say enough about him. We couldn't have asked for a better instructor and he had the boys hitting targets and feeling very comfortable very quickly. It just so happened that we went on Youth Day which made it even better!
Our friend loves to hunt and shoot here. We've come twice for planned vintager shoots. Nice setup on lake withfileds and ponds.
Go experience the "Wobble House" - lots of fun shooting for something a little different to do.
Situated on the Wye River. Quiet, well maintained. Our daughter's wedding was held outside on the lawn at Pintail Point. Worth a look.
With the beautiful site and spacious rooms (public and private) and most especially a friendly, helpful innkeeper, our family enjoyed a wonderful weekend between visits to relatives up and down the East Coast. There are lots of things to do, and we had intended to explore the Eastern Shore, but the atmosphere and comfort of the Manor House at Pintail Point made us just want to relax. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
Stayed overnight at the Manor House B&B at this sprawling facility just off Route #50 in Queenstown, MD.While they have no listing for the (2) B&B's on this site - they should - there is more to do then just golf and shoot clay's.We stayed in a lovely old Manor House (17,000+ square feet) in a two bedroom suite with private bathroom and had access to the entire house, including billiards room, large gathering and dinning areas. We had breakfast in the long glass enclosed patio overlooking the huge lawn leading to the peaceful Wye. Anne was our innkeeper and she was more than just knowledgeable and helpful to us and our friends who picked us up by boat at one of their (8) docks on the Manor House site. Highly recommended.
